143

Summary:

“Did you know the number 143 means I love you?” Chan asked, causing Felix to pause at the familiar number.

“143?” Felix repeated, not sure if he heard that right.

“Yeah, 143 represents the number of letters in 'I love you' in English. Isn’t that so interesting?” Chan asked

“Y-Yeah,” Felix stammered as he thought about the multiple times Hyunjin had teased Felix with those exact three numbers. Hyunjin had started the joke during one of their classes and continued it by scribbling it on Felix's assignments every time and it had spiraled into becoming an inside joke between them.

It had to be just a coincidence right?

OR

The various and unique ways Hyunjin tries to confess his love to Felix but everything just flies over Felix’s head until one day when everything finally clicks in Felix's brain.

I got an idea for this story when I stumbled across a couple of Hyunlix fanart on Twitter. I wanted to share the links here, but unfortunately, the creator deleted their account. The fanart was in a manga style, which is why I got the idea of making this fic to be in a Japanese setting. The fanart was pretty similar in style to

Chapter Text

In Australia, just like the rest of the world, Valentine's day was a special day for couples. A day filled with love and a day reserved for couples to celebrate their love. But having never been in a relationship himself, it was just a regular day for Felix. He never really minded the festivities the couples indulged themselves with. He minded his own business because it was just an ordinary, mundane day for Felix where he would trot to and fro from school.

Until he transferred to a high school in Japan where people regarded Valentine's day as a big deal; it was the day girls could take advantage of by confessing their love to guys by giving them chocolates. But even more than that, February 14th determined the social standing of the entire student body.

For males, it was determined via the number of chocolates they received from the females. For females, it was determined via the number of males receiving their chocolates— or if they had landed themselves a date or not.

In Felix's opinion, It was a little misogynistic how society determined the status quo based on chocolates. But it was also cute sometimes, especially with how some girls lit up whenever the guy they confessed to confessed their love back. Or whenever some guys wouldn't stop smiling the entire day when they received a chocolate bar from their girlfriend or crush. And he couldn't help but laugh whenever his fellow Aussie friend, Bang Chan, the most popular kid in school, would open his locker only for piles and piles of chocolates to fall out of it with love notes. Chan would be so flustered, but he would still pick up and read every single note, and because he wouldn't be able to lug all of it back home, he would distribute it to all his friends and teachers.

The same thing would occur to his best friend, Hwang Hyunjin, except he never bothered to read any of the notes. He would pick up the chocolates, pass them to all his friends and teachers, and immediately throw all the love notes in the nearest garbage can.

So far, for the past two years that Felix has been in Tokyo, he has only received chocolates from his friends, which was another way social statuses were determined in their school— friends receiving chocolates from friends. Which made it extremely apparent to identify the 'loners' in the school. The zero amount of chocolates in their hands equated to their low social standing in the school.

Felix couldn't imagine how devastating it must feel to be labeled as such in the eyes of other students. During the first Valentine's day he had spent in Tokyo, he noticed how those same students would take a day off the next day. Felix assumed it was to avoid the eyes and whispers that would follow them afterward, making it even harder for them to socialize even if they wanted to.

Based on his assumptions and because of how horrible he would feel if he were ever to be placed in their shoes, he decided to do a kind favor. Felix ensured he gave most of the treats he had received to the people he noticed hadn't received anything. He especially made sure that Chan and Hyunjin did the same. For some of them, their eyes lit up whenever Felix gave them something, but for others, they would spat back at Felix, yelling at him that they didn't want his pity. Felix would respect their wishes and not give anything to them, but he still offered it every time one of these days rolled along for the past two years.

It was his third year in Japan, and there was only one more day till Valentine's Day rolled along, and for the first time in his life, Felix was excitedly looking forward to it. The reasoning behind it lay right in front of him, the girl sitting at the front of the classroom. Shin Ryujin, his neighbor and his crush, had just asked him if he could go over to her house after school to help her make chocolates. With a skip in his heartbeat and his eyes blown wide, he immediately stuttered out a "y-yes."

Afterward, Felix couldn't help but keep his entire focus on Ryujin's back, who was highly focused on the lecture, taking notes as the teacher scribbled on the whiteboard. In contrast, Felix ignored everything the teacher said.

Felix has heard of many guys being invited to their girlfriend's house to help make them chocolates for Valentine's days, only for the girl to gift it all to the guy to confess their love. It was supposed to be like a cute date even before the dating process began. So, Felix couldn't help but shake his leg in excitement, eager to see Ryujin confess her love to him. He bit his lip to suppress his smile because his cheeks were starting to hurt from all the giddiness, but no matter what he did to control it, he couldn't help but continue smiling.

Felix's crush on her made him feel so giddy; he would sometimes find himself writing both of their names in his notebook and drawing little hearts surrounding it. He would sometimes find himself daydreaming of all the places they would go on their little dates, every place he knew she would enjoy the most.

He would daydream about her often, especially after interacting with her. He couldn't stop thinking about how she would push her hair back and over her ear whenever the silky strands fell over her face. He couldn't stop thinking about how she would laugh whenever he made jokes. And he especially couldn't stop thinking about her cute dimples that looked like whiskers whenever she smiled so wide that Felix's breath would catch in his throat at the beautiful sight.

So, Felix was head over heels for Ryujin. And he had been planning on confessing for the longest time, but he could never find the courage to do it. But here Ryujin was, offering to do something many people did before becoming a couple, and Felix was over the moon.

He was still smiling lop-sidedly as he stared at Ryujin's back when he suddenly felt a sharp sensation jab into his side. He jolted upright and turned to face Hyujin with slight irritation when he saw him quickly withdraw his pencil after poking him. Before Felix could even ask what he wanted, Hyujin pointed at the teacher.

Felix turned to face the front of the classroom and noticed everyone staring at him, including Sensei Minatozaki, who was glaring at Felix furiously. Felix gulped and immediately stood up, "yes, Sensei?"

"Where has your attention been this entire time?" She scolded, and all Felix could do was stare back and hope she wouldn't ask any further questions regarding his attentiveness. Thankfully she didn't further address that, but instead, she asked, "what's the answer to question number 8?"

"Umm…" Felix ruffled his hair and looked down at the random textbook that he had splayed open before the class had even started. Not knowing what question 8 was asking about, he could only stare at that random textbook in confusion.

"Well?" Sensei asked while tapping her heel on the floor, showing her impatience at Felix's lack of an answer. Felix couldn't even look up, too embarrassed to be called out like this. He just hoped Ryujin wasn't staring at him too, but he was too ashamed to check.

Then suddenly, his best friend Hyunjin— his closest friend that he would treat every day from now on. His friend, whom Felix would do anything for from now on, his most brilliant and most reliable friend, whispered precisely the answer that Felix was looking for to get out of the situation, "143!"

So, with a confident smile and without hesitation, Felix raised his head to face the Sensei and said, "143."

For a second, the entire class stared back at him in silence, but suddenly, it erupted in laughter. Felix could only stand there in confusion and quiver as the Sensei looked back at him more furiously than before.

"Felix, it was a simple true or false question," she spat, "and not only that, but this isn't even a mathematics class. We are learning Japanese."

All the color drained out of Felix's face when he heard that. He felt so embarrassed that he couldn't help but wish to vanish and disappear from the class forever. He even heard Ryujin giggle at him— something which would have made his heart flutter only made him feel horrible.

"Clearly, since you're not paying attention in class, I have to assign more homework to you," Sensei sighed as she rolled her eyes at him, already growing tired of his antics, "I want you to answer all 50 questions for this chapter and submit it to me by tomorrow."

"N-no," Felix whispered and slumped back onto his chair as the laughter died down and she continued teaching. He already had his entire day planned after school, but the extra homework would seriously hinder his plans. He didn't know how he would answer all 50 questions, submit them by tomorrow, and play around with Ryujin.

He suddenly heard snickering across him, and Felix had to place his hands on his knees and clutch onto them very tightly to restrain himself from swiveling around to punch Hyunjin right across his face. Felix was going to make sure never to treat him again, never do anything for his unreliable friend.

Felix rolled his eyes and turned to face him with a scowl when his snickering would not stop.

"What?" Hyunjin raised his brow at the way Felix was glaring at him. "Did you seriously think I was paying attention in class? And actually knew the answer?" Hyunjin asked when the Sensei wasn't looking.

And yeah, Felix supposes he was right that he shouldn't have trusted him about that. Hyunjin was the type that never paid attention but still got the highest grades—he was annoying like that. But he was still the smartest, so Felix would have never doubted him when he had so unabashedly offered him the answer.

Felix rolled his eyes and turned to look at the teacher's scribbling on the whiteboard. He quickly noted that in his notebook, even though he had yet to learn what she was writing, it was future Felix's job to figure out later when exams rolled around— not present Felix's problem.

"Are you mad?" Hyunjin leaned closer and worriedly whispered, but Felix chose not to answer and tried his best to focus on what the Sensei was teaching because, of course, Felix wasn't mad at him. Irritated? Yeah, slightly. But it wasn't Hyunjin's fault that the Sensei had scolded him, so he wasn't mad at him. However, Felix wanted to be a little petty and dramatic, so he acted angry and ignored his friend.

"Felix?" Hyunjin called and used his pencil to poke his waist again, but Felix shrugged that off. Sensei definitely saw that, and it was unbelievable that she didn't even bother calling Hyunjin out for it. Felix supposes those were the perks of being the highest-ranking academic and the most handsome student in the class. It was unfair, but Felix figures he would be a hypocrite if he didn't also use some of Hyunjin's qualities to his advantage in some of their classes.

"Okay, fine," Hyunjin sighed defeatedly after poking Felix some more and not receiving a single response, "how about I do the first 25 questions for you and send it to you, so you only have to do the other half for homework?"

"Seriously?" Felix whispered back as he finally turned to look at his friend in shock.

"Oh?" Hyunjin raised his eyebrows, "so the minute I become useful to you, you finally pay attention to me?" Hyunjin scoffed, but he still had a huge playful smile painted on his face, meaning he took no offense to it.

"No, that's not true," Felix still guiltily chuckled, scratching his head nervously.

Hyunjin just rolled his eyes and mouthed, 'yeah, right.'

Felix returned to nibbling on his pencil and 'paying attention' to the lecture. Although he had no clue what Sensei was talking about— it might as well be math instead of Japanese Literature. Just like Hyunjin, Felix never paid attention in class, but unlike Hyunjin, he never got good grades, resulting in most teachers disliking his very existence.

As soon as class ended and Sensei walked out of the room, Felix turned his entire body to face Hyunjin and asked, "will you seriously do half of the homework for me?"

Hyunjin took a minute to answer the question as he was jotting something down in his notebook before turning around to face Felix with a bright smile as he said, "I already completed the first five questions."

Felix couldn't help but smile widely at that. He jumped off his seat and crashed into Hyunjin to give him a bear hug, which just consisted of Felix cradling the other's head to his chest as Hyunjin used his hands, unsuccessfully, to swat Felix away.

"Aww, Hyunjin, what have I done to deserve such a lovely friend?" Felix wailed as he ignored Hyunjin's squirming and hugged him even tighter and closer to his chest, "let me know whenever you want something, okay? I will do anything to make it up to you,"

Hyunjin finally stopped resisting and went limp in his arms as he smirked and slyly said, "anything?"

Felix pulled back, and while still cradling his head, Felix made direct eye contact with him and muttered with a stoic face, "Yah! Don't you dare think of making me do something stupid."

Hyunjin peeled Felix's hands off his face as he smiled conspiratorially and said, "Ah, but you can't take back your words," he tsked, "you said anything."

Felix internally groaned after seeing that scheming smile, "Hyunjin, don't you dare—"

"What are you guys doing?" Jisung called as he made his way toward them. Felix turned to look at him; Jisung's eyebrows were furrowed as he looked between the two. Felix turned to face Hyunjin again and noticed how his face was so close to him, just inches away, him cradling his cheeks and everything. Felix immediately pulled back and placed his hands back on his side.

"Felix said he would do anything for me!" Hyunjin exclaimed.

"Anything?" Jisung laughed as he placed all of Felix's books from his desk to the ground so he could sit on top of the desk and ignored Felix yelling at him.

"What are you planning on making him do?" Jisung asked

"I haven't thought of what yet, but I will think of something soon enough," Hyunjin said, and Felix turned to face him just in time to see his eyes twinkle, making Felix shudder in fear.

"Let me know if you need my help," Jisung offered and laughed as he saw Felix scowling at him.

Felix slumped down on his seat defeatedly as he witnessed both giggling and high-fiving each other. He slapped his forehead and ran his hand through his hair as he groaned, "I really shouldn't have said anything."

"Hey! You absolutely cannot take back your words!" Hyunjin chided and folded his arms over his chest.

"Yeah, yeah," Felix muttered, rolling his eyes at them but then schooled his expression when he saw Ryujin making her way towards them. She was talking to her friends across the room when Felix noticed her looking at him. Felix's heart lept a beat when she smiled as soon as he made eye contact.

"What's got you making heart eyes like that suddenly?" Jisung asked, but Felix barely even heard him and kept looking at how Ryujin's skirt shuffled around her thighs as she strolled over to him.

"Oh, it's Ryunjin," Jisung giggled, and Felix shushed him as she finally stood in front of them.

"Hey Felix!" she chirped, and Felix chirped his greetings back, trying to match her tone and energy.

"Sensei Minatozaki assigned you a lot of homework today, didn't she?" She twisted her face in pity, making Felix's heart beat faster to know that she was worried about him, so all he could do was nod fervently.

"Then we wouldn't be able to meet today after school, right?" she asked, and Felix's face twisted in confusion, wondering why they wouldn't be able to meet all of a sudden, but he realized she thought he would be too busy with his homework to be able to spend time with her. So Felix frantically shook his head and said, "oh no, don't worry about it! We can still meet," he smiled and then pointed at Hyunjin, "he offered to help me out with the homework!"

"Oh, okay! That's great," she clasped her hand happily, "see you in the evening then!" she said as she waved her goodbyes and left to talk to her friends again. Felix placed his chin on his palm and sighed, watching her go.

"Someone's really in love, huh?" Jisung giggled and ruffled Felix's hair as Felix covered his face with his hands to hide his blush.

"What are you two doing this evening?" Hyunjin asked suddenly, so Felix excitedly turned to face him, and without noticing how serious Hyunjin looked, he said, "I'm helping her make chocolates for Valentine's Day!"

"Ohhh!" Jisung whistled, "you know what that means, right?"

Felix hummed happily, excited to know Jisung was also giddy in excitement with him.

"See? I told you she likes you too!" Jisung elbowed him, "and now you're going on this little pre-date with her before she presents you with those same chocolates to ask you out! You're still going to have to act like you have no clue that she will do that, okay? Or you're going to ruin her surprise!"

"Yeah, of course!" Felix nodded and took his advice to heart. Even though it was common knowledge among all students in Japan that being asked to make chocolates with girls is like the golden ticket before being asked out, Felix is definitely going to act clueless for Ryujin's sake.

"Oh? So you will make me do half of your work while you fool around with Ryujin?" Hyunjin suddenly interrupted Jisung and Felix's excited squeals and made Felix face him with a guilty grimace.

"If I could, I would help Felix out too!" Jisung chirped, "my buddy is about to land a girlfriend!" He exclaimed and threw his hand over Felix to cradle him just like Felix had hugged Hyunjin earlier.

"Really?" Felix asked and happily hugged Jisung back.

A beat later, Jisung pulled away; with a serious expression and a raised brow, he asked, "would you seriously want my help, though? In academics? Really?"

With an awkward chuckle, Felix shook his head because he knew that no matter how low Felix scored in exams, Jisung scored even lower. He couldn't rely on something like academics when it came to him. But when it comes to street smarts, Felix will always go to Jisung for advice.

"Alright, class," the next Sensei to teach their following class walked in and announced before even properly taking her place in front of the podium. "Turn to page 60 of your textbooks. Let's pick up from where we left off last time."

"Remember Felix. This is a history class, not a math class, so don't shout out a random number when Sensei calls on you, okay?" Jisung teased, and Felix almost punched him in the face.

"Fuck off," Felix rolled his eyes, and Jisung just laughed and hurried off to his seat. Felix turned to face Hyunjin to scoff at him for setting him up for the eventual teasing he was about to receive from now on but stopped when he saw the way Hyunjin was scowling while fiddling with his pencil.

"Hyunjin, you okay?" Felix asked as he bent down to take out his history textbook from his backpack. Hyunjin startled out of whatever trance he was in and nodded after giving Felix the briefest of smiles before he turned to face forward. Felix followed his gaze to land upon Ryujin, who was making her way in front of Felix to get into her seat. She must have felt both of their eyes on her because she looked up at them and smiled. Felix blushed and smiled back, not noticing how Hyunjin had immediately turned to look back at him when she smiled at them.

Felix didn't take long to stand nervously at Ryujin's doorstep. He raced home after school ended, ditching Hyunjin on their walk back to run home as fast as possible so he could shower and dress properly before meeting her. But more importantly, he had to study and brush up on his nonexistent chocolate-making skills. Felix loved baking; everyone and their mothers knew that his dream was to open a bakery or a restaurant in the future—but he had never made chocolates before. Felix supposes that Ryujin must have just assumed he knew how to make them because of his passion for making sweets, but he didn't, so he had to watch many tutorials before trotting over to her house.

Felix's foot tapped nervously as he waited for her to open the door, and he had to continuously remind himself to act normal— especially since he had been to her house many times before. But he couldn't stop fidgeting. He wondered if he should have gone to Hyunjin's house across the street first to get his opinion about his outfit. But it was too late now, and Felix couldn't help but regret it as soon as he saw Ryujin open the door and look at him up and down with wide eyes. She smiled and said, "wow, Felix, you look great!"

"Thank you," Felix muttered as he shuffled inside, blushing a little at the compliment, but his negative side of the brain couldn't stop thinking that maybe she was making fun of his choices. He pushed that negative thought out and followed her to the living room.

He took off his long winter coat to reveal the cardigan he was wearing inside, and Ryujin said, "Let me get an apron for you, so nothing ruins your outfit," before walking off to the pantry. And Felix almost slapped himself. He couldn't believe he wore such a fancy cardigan when he was supposed to be cooking—of course, she would have looked at him with wide eyes—he was just overdressed.

She walked back in with an apron, took Felix's coat from him, and draped it on one of the sofas while Felix hastily put the apron on.

"Ready?" she asked. Felix nodded as he finished typing it up around his waist and followed her to the kitchen, suddenly feeling very awkward about this entire situation.

"So I have been watching a lot of tutorials on YouTube on how to make it. I bought some stuff for it, but I would be more than happy to make it differently if you know a better recipe," Ryujin said as she pointed at the countertops, which were filled with all the necessary supplies. She already had the bag of cocoa powder and sugar opened.

"No, it's fine," Felix said and walked towards the stack of bowls and picked one up, "let's follow whatever you read," he said because he definitely wasn't confident in what he had learned just an hour ago.

Ryujin grinned, nodded, and brought out a big pack of butter, and everything after that went by in a blur. Felix could confidently say that he didn't let his thumping heart and his nervousness get in the way of having fun while making these chocolates with Ryujin. If anything, it felt like he had forgotten to present his 'best' self in front of his crush. He was too far gone from having fun mixing the batter, pouring it into bar molds, and chatting about this and that with Ryujin to even think of such things.

But then, as Felix was mixing another round of batter, Ryujin wandered off to the opposite side of the kitchen and brought out different molds that she was adamant about hiding from Felix no matter how much he playfully asked her to show them to him.

"No! Don't look! It's embarrassing!" she exclaimed as Felix clambered over all the supplies—that were now littered over the entire kitchen floor—to see what she was working on. He could only catch a glimpse of the batch she was working on before she giggled and pushed him away with a bright flush on her face. Felix had managed to see that she was working on pink chocolates instead of the brown color of all their other batches.

Felix could only assume that those must be the special chocolates she might use to ask him out on Valentine's Day— because why else would she be so flustered as Felix watched her make them? So, with a high-squeaked giggle, Felix walked away, acting like his heart wasn't racing a mile a minute.

Her parents had walked into the kitchen multiple times, and Felix politely greeted them. He had known her parents since they moved to the neighborhood three years ago so he wasn't exactly feeling awkward greeting them, but it did feel a little weird. He wondered if her parents knew that Ryujin was planning to ask a boy out for Valentine's Day by making chocolates—the boy being the same boy that was in the same kitchen as them, of course. He wondered if they would be okay if their daughter dated him, but as soon as he saw how they smiled back at him, he couldn't help but feel that everything would be alright.

Before they knew it, they already had some refrigerated batches packed in cute little red boxes that Ryujin had bought. While cleaning up the countertops, Ryujin said, "Felix, it's okay. I got it from here! You should go back home and complete your homework now!"

"Are you sure?" Felix asked in the middle of washing one of the bowls.

She smiled and patted his back as she said, "yeah, Felix, I'm sure. It's already 8 pm, so you should go back home now!"

Felix stared at her for a few seconds, not that he hadn't for the entire time he was there, but he closely looked at her expressions to assess if she would be okay cleaning up by herself. She was smiling, her hair was messily coming out of her bun, and she had chocolate powder and powdered sugar coloring some parts of her face and neck, so Felix couldn't help but pause in the middle of washing to brush some of the powder off her cheeks. She just smiled even more brightly at his action; Felix had to resume washing off the bowl to hide his blush.

After washing the bowl, he placed it on the drying rack, and even though Felix wanted to stay longer and hang out with Ryujin, his grades were on the line, so he reluctantly wiped his hands and took off the apron.

"Felix, here, take this chocolate bar and share it with your family," Ryujin said as she handed him one batch from the refrigerator that had already hardened, "a token of my appreciation for helping me out."

"Oh, thank you!" Felix chirped and gladly took it out of her hands, his heart thumping harshly against his rib cage.

She walked him to the door, handed him his coat, and they spent a little longer chatting about schoolwork and gossiping about some of the students and teachers before he finally walked outside. She closed the door, but Felix stood on the porch instead of walking back home, sighing happily. He couldn't believe how much fun he had today.

He immediately unwrapped the chocolate bar she had handed him and happily consumed it—after all, she had given it so lovingly; how could he dream about sharing something like this with his family?

He fist pumped into the air to celebrate the day as he ate it and immediately put a hand over his mouth to stop himself from giggling loudly and risking spitting out some of the chocolate crumbs. He was just so excited for tomorrow when Ryujin finally presented those pink chocolates to him that he couldn't get his body to calm down. He felt so energetic, and he blamed it all on the sugar he had consumed while test-tasting so many batches and the chocolate he was eating currently. He wanted to scream and brag how wonderful today was with everyone if he could, but he just suppressed himself by squealing and jumping around while fist pumping into the air. He tried to keep his squeals at low volumes when he remembered that he was standing in front of the Shin residential.

After swallowing the entire bar, he finally got himself to calm down. He started walking to his house to complete his homework when he remembered he had to get the other half of the assignment from Hyunjin. He paused in his tracks and shot a quick text over to Hyunjin, letting him know he was coming over to get them, but he had already walked across the street and was standing outside Hyunjin's door before he could even hit send.

He rang the doorbell and patiently waited even though he couldn't wait to tell his best friend everything that happened with Ryujin today. Hyunjin finally opened the door, already clad in his pajamas, and Felix smiled widely when, without even a word, Hyunjin handed a sheet of paper that Felix was sure was his other half of the homework.

Felix didn't even bother checking. He immediately folded it and tucked it into his pocket before jumping up to hug a startled Hyunjin, "thank you so much! You have no idea how much you have just helped me out."

Felix doesn't know what time he would have slept if he really did have to finish all 50 questions—which were more like 100 questions since there were so many more sub-parts for each question. And since Felix had just moved to Japan two years ago, his Japanese Literacy skills weren't that great. He would leap onto any help offered to him. Especially on a day like this, where Felix was able to spend time with his crush instead of worrying about his grades. He couldn't be more than grateful for Hyunjin's help. He just hoped his hug could convey how grateful he was.

Usually, Hyunjin would whine and push him back whenever Felix got too touchy with him, but this time he pulled Felix closer and hugged him tighter, surprising Felix.

Felix sighed and relaxed into the hug when he heard Hyunjin chuckle. The vibrations of it shook both their bodies a bit as he said, "You're very welcome."

Felix was the first to pull back from the hug, which, again, shocked him. He decided not to say anything as he saw the other staring at Felix with a soft smile as he leaned against the doorframe.

"Did you have fun today?" Hyunjin asked and folded his arms across his chest.

Felix bounced a little as he exclaimed, "yeah, it was so fun!"

"Well, that's good," Hyunjin whispered, "as long as you had fun, then everything's good,"

Felix raised his eyebrow at the weird way he had worded that but ignored it and said, "It was so much fun!" He repeated, "we made so many chocolates."

"Yeah, I can tell," Hyunjin chuckled, leaned closer to his face, and brushed off some of the powder that must have been left behind on his chin. Felix grinned as Hyunjin didn't move back; instead, he kept his grip on his chin and stared into Felix's eyes.

"She made one special batch that was pink and refused to show it off to me," Felix giggled.

"I see," Hyunjin looked away, finally letting go of his chin and leaning back against the doorframe again.

"I had to act like I didn't know anything," Felix laughed.

Hyunjin smiled softly at him and nodded, happy to see Felix bounce around as he recalled the day's events to him. After a few minutes, Hyunjin walked closer and grabbed Felix's shoulder to prevent him from jumping more, "Felix, stop," he chuckled, "you're going to tire yourself out soon."

Felix smiled at him and stopped, trying his best to calm himself down as Hyunjin stared down at him, holding him in place.

"The moon's really beautiful today, isn't it?" Hyunjin asked all of a sudden, jolting Felix out of his thoughts. Felix looked up at the sky with a confused face and noticed the bright full moon.

"Yeah, it is beautiful," Felix murmured and looked at Hyunjin again, who still had his eyes on him, "but how do you know? You didn't even look up at the sky while I was talking."

"I always have my eyes on the moon," he said and moved to stand a little closer.

Hyunjin was so close to him now that he took up Felix's entire field of vision, so Felix had no choice but to simply stare back at him too. Felix didn't mind, though, he loved being touchy with his friends.

"Oh?" Felix hummed, "I guess you really like astronomy."

"Nah, I just like to look at the moon," Hyunjin said, and then he slowly brushed his fingers over Felix's cheeks as he leaned closer to whisper directly into Felix's ear, "but sometimes I can't stop staring at the stars too."

"Really? The stars?" Felix looked up at the sky again to see if he could see any stars today, "we can barely see the stars here in Tokyo, though," he looked back at Hyunjin, who hadn't once stopped grinning, "there's so much light pollution."

"Even in this polluted world, I still try to look for them as much as I can," he said as he continued brushing Felix's cheeks, "my heart wouldn't be at peace if I didn't see them every day."

"I wish I could take you to Australia with me one day," Felix whispered too, trying to match Hyunjin's tone and energy, "I will take you to one of the beaches there so you could stargaze. You can see entire galaxies there!"

"Oh really?" Hyunjin chuckled and finally pulled back, "I would love to go with you one day."

"And Chan too!" Felix said excitedly.

"Yeah, of course," Hyunjin nodded, "how can we even dream about going to Australia without him too?"

"And Jisung!"

"We might as well invite our entire friend group with us," Hyunjin chuckled softly, and Felix laughed along.

They stood there in comfortable silence for a couple of seconds. Felix looked up at the sky to admire the moon again when he suddenly saw Hyunjin shiver. And then he realized that Hyunjin was wearing his pajamas with nothing over them to protect him from the February chill.

"Hyunjin!" Felix called out in horror and started to push him back inside the house, "go in, or you're gonna catch a cold if you stay out any longer now!"

Hyunjin let himself be pushed, but he still laughed and mumbled, "I will be fine! Don't worry about it."

"Well, I have to go back to my house now, too," Felix huffed as he pushed him inside. He walked out of the door when he was satisfied with Hyunjin being safe inside the warmth of his house and yelled, "thank you so much for your help!" and waved goodbye as Hyunjin waved back.

Notes:

'the moon is beautiful, isn't it?' is another way of saying 'I love you' in Japanese because of how similar the phrases sound in their language (Moon = tsuki and like = suki). So, here Hyunjin was talking about the moon but actually meant “I love you". However, because he was pointing at the sky, Felix obviously thought he was talking about the moon. I think Chan has mentioned this moon reference in his bubble/live and there has been a reference to this line in their Japanese song called Fairytale.

And LOL Idk if I should explain what Hyunjin meant when he was talking about the stars while brushing Felix's cheeks or if it was just extremely obvious to y’all (he was talking about his freckles).

I'm hoping you all enjoyed this Chapter. Please comment your thoughts! I get happy to hear any sort of feedback from all of you.
