Scarred: Reopened (On Hiatus)

Summary:

Four Years ago, Sunny cut Mari's clock short. And he still hadn't forgiven himself about it. But even before her death, Sunny suffered. The recital was brutal. It started out well enough, but his ineptitude only angered Mari. Corrections turned into screams. Screams turned into yelling. Yelling turned into shoving, and shoving turned into worse. Scratching, punching, insulting. Sunny endured though it all for Mari. If she was being this cruel, it had to be for something. He was being a bad brother. A bad person. And it was Mari's job to punish him for it. To try and fix him.

But after Four Years, Sunny finally leaves the house again, being forced to see the consequences of his actions. He expects the world to hate him for what he did, but instead...

TL:DR: Mari is abusive to Sunny, and he lets it happen because he loved her too much.

THIS IS A REWRITE OF AN OLD FIC I WROTE CALLED "SCARRED".

This fic is on a permanent Hiatus until further notice.

Chapter 1: Punishment

Chapter Text

"Come on! Just jump! We'll get you out!" The brothers yelled at □ as they told him to climb the stone structure. □ tried to say no, but they insisted. □□□□ had told him to be careful, but who knew. Maybe it'd be fun.

□ tried to climb up, but it was hard. Looking down made him sick, the water looking as if it could swallow him and never let him out again. Despite that, he kept climbing until he saw a spider. He was afraid of spiders.

He yelled out from surprise as he lost his grip, falling into the cold water. Amidst his panic he flailed his arms around, trying to get back to the surface, failing miserably. He could only stare as the water made him sink even deeper, the light above becoming more scarce. At this point, he stopped moving. He could only wait for the brothers to get him out, like they promised.

□□□□ jumped into the cold water after watching □ fall inside. She'd warned the brothers to take care of him. And despite that, they didn't listen as they tempted □ to climb the sculpture. Before they knew it, he'd fallen in. They were too shocked to get inside. □□□□ was just lucky to be there. □ survived by luck.

She reached her hand out to the boy, his eyes full of panic as he flailed around upon seeing her, trying to direct his body to go to her. □□□□ reached for him, finally grasping his arm as she pulled him out.

□□□□ held □ tightly in her arms as he heaved and shivered, hugging her tightly. □ didn't know how to swim, and it almost got him killed. Maybe □□□□ was babying him too much. He didn't know how to do so many things. He was incompetent.

□□□□ knew that it was her fault. She'd failed to teach him, instead treating him like a scared little child her whole life. □□□□ decided to stop. She'd teach him. Teach him so he wouldn't be in danger again. She'd improve him, and make him better trough whichever means possible. □□□□ thought it was a good idea. After all, she loved □.

And she only wanted what was best for him.

WELCOME TO WHITESPACE

You've been living here for as long as you can remember

Sunny woke up in whitespace as usual. The white void was always devoid of practically anything. Aside from the few things on the blanket bellow him, everything around was a white Abyss.

But it was alright. The white blanket had all he needed on top of it. A laptop to look up anything he was interested enough to research, as well as to warm his lap. A sketchbook laid on the floor for him to use and sketch all his thoughts on. A box of tissues to wipe his sorrow away. A lonely violin in front of him, and a cat. Mewo.

The little feline was laying on the blanket, minding it's own business. The raven-haired boy simply stared at it as it stretched its limbs right before making eye contact with him.

Mewo stood up, approaching Sunny before rubbing its furry body against his leg. The boy crouched down, extending his hand in a attempt to pet the cat, only for it to shy away.

Sunny stood up, attempting to follow the small animal to wherever it went. The feline jumped off the blanket as it started dashing deep into the white void, Sunny following closely behind.

The cat lead him towards a small door as he entered trough the flap. Sunny looked at it for a while before choosing to follow the cat. He approached the door, slowly turning the handle and looking inside. The door lead to what seemed to be a dark room. It was black, devoid of all color, as if darkness were in the midst of swallowing it.

"Having fun, are we?"

Sunny heard something behind him before he felt himself being shoved into the room, tripping over himself before the door shut itself, vanishing automatically. A sense of fear overcame Sunny as he failed to see anything in the darkness. He could faintly make out that the walls the room consisted of were getting smaller as they closed around him.

"Please! Help!" Sunny knocked on where the door used to be, hoping to get a response from anyone. "Anyone?!" He yelled as he continued to slam his hand weakly against the wall.

A disgusting gurgling sound came from behind him, causing his body to send a shiver down his spine as he turned around. The ground formed a mass from itself which grew and molded itself into a humanoid creature. It looked like her.

"Sunny…"

As it spoke, red hands sprang out from □□□□'s back, said hands quickly extending as they aimed for Sunny. He had almost no time to react as they grabbed him by the arms and legs, pulling him closer by force as he continued to yell for help.

"Sunny… bad people don't deserve fun. Did you forget what I told you?"

□□□□ extended it's hand towards Sunny, holding his face gently.

"You've been bad. Sunny. Never forget it."

The hands started to squeeze Sunny, their nails digging into his skin, causing him to yell as □□□□ simply watched. He knew he deserved it. He knew. But it still hurt. The pain only increased as Sunny screamed in pain.

"Stop it! Stop it! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT!"

*****

"STOP IT!" Sunny's sprang out of bed in a sweat-filled panic, his eyes wide open as they darted around, his arms flailing in fear. "STOP IT! STOP IT….STOP IT….Stop…" Sunny calmed down slightly as the pain seemed to have vanished in a mere second, looking around.

He was in his room. An empty bedroom. If was dark, most likely midnight, given that his mother didn't hear his screams. Or maybe she was at work. He heard his stomach rumbling. He was hungry. He should probably eat.

Sunny stood up, quickly flicking the lights on in his room. Luckily, he kept a flashlight in his drawer, so he wouldn't have to worry about the dark. He left the room, heading towards the stairs. Every single time he looked down as he took a step, the same words repeated in his head. Murderer. Monster. Mistake.

The raven-haired boy made his way to the fridge, opening it to find some frozen steak, taking it out before simply putting it inside the microwave. Before he could turn it on, he felt a shiver in his back, turning around.

□□□□ was staring blankly at him, it's eyes focused on him as they refused to blink while it's body twitched and wretched, laying on the floor like a blob.

"Sunny…..Time to practice. Time for your punishment."

Sunny was scared, turning around as he heard the voice behind him getting louder. He couldn't let □□□□ get him.

□□□□'s body wretched and twitched even more, it's eyes still staring at Sunny. Troughout the entire process, they refused to close. She hadn't blinked all this time.

"My little Sunshine…" The creature jumped at him, causing him to jump back, slamming his back against the kitchen drawer as he groaned in pain. □□□□ started to drag its body across the floor towards him.

Sunny was backed against the wall, only able to watch as □□□□ got closer, it's hand grazing Sunny's face. Sunny's fear spiked as he tried to back away. "Practice, and i'll let you sleep next to me."

Sunny's body stopped shivering, his rear turning into relief. Maybe punishment wouldn't be so bad. There was a reward at the end of everything. Even if he didn't deserve it.

"Y-Yes…Sister."

Sunny stood up, watching as □□□□ stood up before standing behind him, watching him. Judging him as he left the kitchen, not even bothering to turn off the microwave as it continued to cook the meat.

He walked up to the old piano room, trying to open the door. It was locked. Mother had locked it again. The boy pushed, trying to get inside. "I…I need to get in."

□□□□ continued to watch as Sunny tried to open the door, getting more desperate with every push. Sunny went from trying to pull to slamming his entire body agains the door. "Need to get in. I need….Mari."

He slammed his body even more, the door refusing to budge. "Open! Open!" Sunny yelled, his body getting exhausted from the pain until he simply crumbled onto the floor in defeat. "I…I can't open the door."

"Don't worry, little brother." □□□□ smiled. "There's other forms of punishment."

Sunny nodded, standing back up as he inched his body towards the Kitchen, standing up as he reached for a Knife. He looked at his hand. The old wounds were beginning to scar. It was about time he opened them again.

Whether it was using the Violin or a knife didn't matter. After all, they hurt just the same. Sunny gently slid his finger across the knife, his body flinching at the pain. This was routine for him already.

He sliced each finger open, watching as some blood dripped on the floor. He'd clean that up in due time. Sunny finished practice in record time, his fingers red. He hoped to have appeased □□□□ as he looked behind him. She looked satisfied, maybe even proud.

Mari wasn't here to punish his sins anymore, so it was up to him to continue for her. Sunny looked at his injuries, his face wrenching up in pain.

Even though he did it all for □□□□, it still hurt. So much. He grabbed a few napkins and covered his fingers with them to minimize the amount of blood he was losing.

But it was Okay. □□□□ would sleep next to him. Sunny exhaustedly left the kitchen, crawling back into bed. He was so tired from trying to open the door to the piano room, so he was glad that his own door opened much easier as he went inside.

Sunny crawled into his bed, shivering and in pain. It hurt. So much. He wanted to get some sleep, so he closed his eyes, hoping he'd wake up somewhere else.

Welcome to Whitespace

You've been living here for as long as you can remember.

Sunny woke up in Whitespace again, looking around. The same white void as ever. The same laptop, the same tissue box, and the same sketchbook. But there was no sign of Mewo. Apparently, he didn't feel like coming back.

Sunny liked petting Mewo, so he was upset that he wasn't here. When Mewo was here, Sunny was happy no matter what.

"Sunny."

The boy turned around. Mari. She was sitting right behind him on the blanket, smiling at him. "You were very good today, Sunny. You made no mistakes. You were perfect."

Sunny smiled, his body automatically leaning into Mari as he fell into her arms. He was safe. As long as he was good, Mari □□□□ wouldn't hurt him.

Sunny let his body give in as □□□□ cradled him to sleep. He was happy. He was happy. Mari was hugging him, and he was Happy.

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

Sunny woke up groggy to the sound of someone knocking on the door. He groaned before looking at the clock in his room. It was the middle of the day already.

He wanted to get more sleep, but the knocking got louder. Sunny simply covered his ears with the pillow, hoping to drown out the knocks. Eventually, the knocking stopped, silencing the house again.

He put a blanket over himself, hoping to get some more sleep, hopefully trough the entire of the day. His plans were squashed when he felt someone shaking him, removing the blanket to see his mother.

"Good morning." Sunny tried to give her a weak smile before getting back under his blanket. He just wanted to get some sleep. "Sunny. Get out of there, we need to talk."

She tried to pull on the blanket, but he simply pulled back. "Don't want to…" He pulled harder, causing the mother to lose her grip on the blanket as he once again covered himself.

"Sunny, just listen to me and get out of that bed…" She tried again, pulling. Sunny grabbed the Blanket again. "Leave me!"

The mother shook her head as Sunny pulled even harder. "Sunny! You already make things hard enough for me! Just let go!"

"Why?! Leave me alone!" Sunny yelled, pulling onto it as hard as he could. The mother held tightly this time, only causing him to stumble back onto the bed.

"I know what you did yesterday, Sunny! You promised!" The mother dropped the blanket on the floor as she looked at Sunny. He was sat upright on the bed, a melancholic stare as he looked up at her. "You promised you wouldn't do that anymore…that room is locked for a reason…"

The woman held Sunny in a right hug. Sunny could hear her trying not to cry. "I know you won't let me help you… but at least keep your promises."

Sunny grabbed her hands, releasing him from the hug. He looked at his mother, tears in her eyes. He didn't want to hurt her. "...Fine. I'll stop."

"Thank you…Sunny." The woman's hands shivered as she held his. She just hoped he'd keep his promise, like she kept hers, as painful as it was.

"Who was at the door?" Sunny mumbled. As much as he pretended not to care, he wanted to know who was so excitedly knocking.

"It was Kel. He asked if you wanted to hang out, since summer break started recently." The mother finally smiled.

Sunny simply kept quiet for a few seconds. Kel? He hadn't seen him in years. Why would he care, much less knock at his door? He shook his head. "Too tired."

"Actually…" The mother smiled, opening the door to his room. "I let him in. I told him you're free, so he's waiting downstairs for you."

Sunny's face melted into stress. He couldn't go out, much less hang out with Kel. He didn't deserve it. He didn't deserve a Kel to knock on his door.

But alas, Sunny knew better than to be rude to a guest. The boy sighed, before standing up from bed as his mother left the room, leaving home to get dressed by himself. Today would seemingly be a long one…

He walked downstairs. The lights were on, and it being daylight mean he had no need for a flashlight. Despite it all, he could hear the faint whispers of □□□□ telling him to stay upstairs. He didn't deserve to see his friend.

"Sunny! We're waiting!" His mother called him from downstairs. Sunny heard as her voice drowned out □□□□, taking a deep breath. He couldn't worry about that right now. He had visit.

"Coming!"
