Summary:

Yup, Sektor is a dad now (go read "Secret Legacy" and "Another Chance" to see how that all went down!). He's trying to be normal, but these damn kids nowadays!

Notes:

Completely brainless fluff about how I envision Sektor interacting with his newly found family. He's so clueless and I love him for it!

Work Text:

Sektor grumbled under his breath as he descended the stairs in his wife’s home. Sleeping in on his honeymoon was wreaking havoc with his normally regimented routine. Daiyu had left early in the morning to wrap up some things at her prior job at the local hospital. He was actually shocked he had fallen back asleep. Married life was already making him soft.

He rummaged around in the fridge, a little unfamiliar with the wide range of American foods it contained. He grabbed a carton of almond milk and took a drink right from the container. As he straightened up, he fussed with the waistband of his pajama pants. He wasn’t a fan of wearing clothing to bed, but agreed to it due to Daiyu’s son being home during a college break.

Fuck...our son… He was never going to get used to that.

He took another drink from the milk carton and he was suddenly aware of eyes on him. He spun around and saw a young woman in the living room staring at him. She looked to be about his son’s age, with golden blonde hair and dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. Sektor scanned the rest of the room but didn’t see his son anywhere.

“Umm...hello?” he said cautiously.

“Hi!” she replied. “You must be Xiyang’s dad!” He was never going to get used to hearing that.

“Uh, yeah...who are you?” The Lin Kuei was not big into teaching about social etiquette.

“Oh, sorry! I’m Candace! Xiyang is helping me with a project for school. He’s upstairs in his room looking for his laptop’s charging cable,” she explained.

When meeting new people, Sektor’s instincts always kicked in, whether he would admit it or not. He noticed that she projected an air of friendliness, but was trying to cover up her nervousness. Her feet were shuffling around a lot and she wouldn’t (or couldn’t) hold eye contact with him for very long. In their brief interaction, she had looked towards the stairs twice now – looking for Xiyang to come and save her.

Sektor finished the milk and set the empty container on the counter. He saw her slightly shrink back against the sofa as he walked towards her.

“What are you working on?” he asked.

“Um, it’s a paper on some of the basic theories of circuit setup. I’m a year behind Xiyang and he said he would help me,” she said.

Without a second thought, Sektor sat down next to her. He tilted the laptop on the coffee table towards him as he scanned its contents. “Let’s see what you have…”

As Sektor read Candace’s paper, she forced her dry throat to swallow. She wasn’t sure if she should be scared or flattered or what. When she first saw him in the kitchen, she knew he was an imposing figure. But now that he was sitting right next to her...he was...well, he was big. Xiyang hadn’t told her what his father did for a living, but she could swear he had a career as a professional wrestler.

He was the tallest Chinese man she had ever seen and he was seriously cut. Speaking of “cut,” she also wondered about the multiple scars crossing his body. He certainly didn’t leave much to her imagination – he only wore a rather thin pair of pajama bottoms tied so loosely that they looked to be holding on to his hips for dear life. Not to mention, as he walked past a window with sunlight streaming through, she got an eyeful telling her that he wasn’t wearing anything under said pajamas.

Now that he was so close, she could see the veins snaking over his bulging bicep muscles. His long black hair had to have reached past his waist if it wasn’t pulled up on top of his head. A few stray strands fell over his forehead and he repeatedly pushed them back behind his ear. He may have just gotten out of bed, but he smelled amazing, too – something exotic she couldn’t quite identify. Her face felt warm as she continued to stare at him. He was sitting so close that his arm occasionally brushed against her. Xiyang had never mentioned that he had a hot dad.

“This isn’t bad,” Sektor said, startling Candace’s daydreaming.

“Oh! That’s good. I was worried I was way off track,” she confessed. “Xiyang never mentioned that you knew about electronics.” Strangely, a somewhat pained look flashed over the man’s face.

“I...uh...used to work in robotics,” he mumbled. “Here, this section should be fleshed out in more detail.” He seemed to change the subject quickly.

Twenty minutes later, Xiyang finally thudded down the stairs.

“Fuck! The damn thing fell out of my bag! Wound up between the wall and my bed!”

He stopped in his tracks as he noticed his father sitting next to Candace. He hadn’t spent a lot of time with his father and was still trying to come to grips with Sektor’s unusual history. Now, his classmate was sitting shoulder to shoulder with the man he had only just met a few days ago. Life was definitely strange.

“Dad! I’m sorry! Did we wake you up?” he asked.

“No, not at all,” Sektor replied. “I’m actually shocked I slept this late. I was just giving Candace some pointers on her paper – I may not have a formal degree, but I guess you can say I have a fair amount of experience with stuff like this.” He gave a laugh, but Candace caught a look of shock or surprise on Xiyang’s face.

“Uh, yeah, sure!” Xiyang stammered.

As Xiyang sat down on the other side of his father, Candace casually asked what she though was a typical small-talk question: “So what do you do for a living? Xiyang said you two just recently reconnected. I know all about his mom, but he hasn’t said much about you.”

Sektor felt his son stiffen up in fear next to him. A small smile formed on Sektor’s lips. He was so used to dodging questions like this.

“Unfortunately, I can’t really talk about it – I work on classified projects in my home country,” Sektor answered.

“Oh, wow!” Candace replied. As expected, she didn’t press. Most people never caught that he said “in” his home country and not “for” his home country. It was usually assumed he worked for the military or government.

The three worked on polishing up Candace’s paper until Daiyu walked in the front door. She raised an eyebrow in surprise at seeing her husband flanked by college students.

“What are you guys up to?” she asked.

“Just putting the finishing touches on Candace’s paper,” Xiyang replied. They quickly packed up and Xiyang walked Candace to the door.

“Thank you so much for helping me out!”

“No problem!” Xiyang replied. “Although I do have to admit, my dad made more of a contribution than I did!”

Before Candace left, she turned back and gave an impish smile. “Xiyang, why didn’t you tell me you had a DILF for a dad?” She didn’t wait for an answer and giggled as she walked away. Xiyang’s face was bright red as he turned from closing the door. He quickly escaped to his room.

Sektor walked into the kitchen to see Daiyu making lunch. “What is a dilf?” he asked.

Daiyu burst out laughing. “It’s just something silly that kids say nowadays,” she tried brushing it off.

“Was I just insulted?” he asked, scowling.

“No!” Daiyu sighed. “It stands for Dad I’d like to fuck.”

Sektor’s mouth hung open and his face flushed with embarrassment.

“Why don’t you go put some clothes on, hot stuff, so I won’t have to beat any more college girls away from you?” Daiyu laughed.

Sektor turned to walk back upstairs, still bewildered as to what he did to deserve such attention. He yelped as Daiyu smacked him on his ass.

“Is that your way of telling me you need something?” he asked, voice dripping with innuendo.

“No,” she replied. “That’s for leaving an empty milk container on the counter!”
