Work Text:
It was a quiet Saturday morning at Louis and Harry’s house. It was around 9 in the morning, and Louis was laying on the couch watching the television, waiting for Harry to wake up. It was unusual for the boy to sleep in, so Louis knew he had to really need it, and left him alone. He could also tell the night before that Harry was exhausted, and just wanted him to rest.
Around 10 that morning, Harry finally shuffled into the room. He was wrapped in a soft blanket, and rubbing his eyes with his right hand as he stared at Louis. Louis smiled at the younger boy, he was truly adorable with his hair all fluffed out from sleeping and everything. Louis motioned him to the couch, and he wasted no time in climbing on the couch before settling himself right in Louis lap. Louis chuckled.
“Cuddly today are we, love?” He chuckled fondly as he felt Harry nod against his chest. The movement jostled Harry around a bit who whined slightly in response. Louis observed him carefully.
“You okay, baby?” Harry nodded and settled back in as close to Louis as he could get. Louis frowned but shook it off. He hoped Harry would let him know if something was wrong.
The further into the morning it got, the more worried Louis had become. He chose not to say anything, not wanting to upset Harry, but he’d barely moved since he woke up. He waited patiently to see what Harry would do when he let out another whimper, and trembled slightly. Louis looked down into his eyes, searching for an answer. Harry noticed and took a deep breath before sitting himself up in Louis' lap.
“Uhm, somethings wrong, I think.” He said, absentmindedly playing with his bottom lip.
“What is it, love?” Louis said softly.
“I- I don’t feel good.” Harry frowned at Louis, looking near tears at this point.
Louis took a moment to observe Harry. The boy did feel warmer than usual against his body, but he had not really noticed it before. Harry was almost always a human space heater. He noticed his cheeks were tinted scarlet, whereas the rest of his face was nearly gray at that point, he frowned, and brushed Harry’s curls back, feeling his head. He felt the heat burning through his skin and sighed gently, pressing his lips to his forehead to make sure he was not imagining the heat in the boy's skin. Louis sighed and held Harry closer.
“Aww, baby. You have a fever. What wrong, love?” Louis said softly. Harry just seemed fragile right now, so he spoke barely above a whisper.
“Uhm, my tummy really hurts. and m’head.” Harry breathed out. Louis reached down and rubbed soft circles into his tummy which was sticking out more than normal. Harry sighed in slight relief and leaned back into Louis as close as possible.
“Do you think you’re gonna be sick?” Harry looked like he contemplated it for a second before shaking his head. Louis took that as a good sign as they settled back into silence, still rubbing his bloated tummy.
Louis looked down a few minutes later and realized Harry was nearly asleep. He never fell asleep like that during the day unless he was really really ill and that only worried Louis further. He rubbed up and down the boys back until he heard his breathing completely even out as he fell into a deep sleep.
Louis had decided to let the boy rest for a while, and it had been over an hour since he fell asleep. Louis didn’t dare move, and kept him cuddled close, but a thought soon crossed his mind. Harry hadn’t eaten or drank anything since dinner time the night before, and he knew that wasn’t healthy. He gently started stroking Harry’s cheek, watching as his eyes fluttered open before landing on Louis and closing again as he let out a whimper. Louis shushed him softly, and helped him sit up.
“I know, I’m sorry, love. But you really need to eat something, yeah?” He instantly shook his head no.
“I’m sorry, love. But I really need you to at least try and drink something. It’s not healthy to go this long without putting anything in your system. Especially with your high metabolism, yeah?” Harry nodded, and let out a shiver before speaking.
“C-could I just try some tea?” Louis smiled down at him.
“Course you can. I’ll be right back.” He said, moving Harry off of him and settling him onto the couch. Harry frowned at the loss of contact but let him go nonetheless.
Louis made quick work of making a cup of tea just the way Harry liked, before moving back to the living room. Harry saw him and immediately reached his arms out to let Louis know he wanted him again. Unable to say no when Harry was like this, Louis set the tea close by on the table before sitting back down, and moving Harry close to him. He observed Harry’s face, and he could see the boy was feeling a lot worse than he let on. It looked like someone had drained all the life out of his eyes.
Harry was too shaky to hold the tea himself, so Louis held it and slowly brought it up to his mouth every now and then, tilting the cup up. Harry took a few sips before taking one last one and pushing the cup away. He sat up, and Louis watched to see what he would do. Harry was much too pale for his liking, and Louis was glad the boy was already sitting, or he feared he would pass out.
“Haz? Talk to me, love.” Harry put a finger up for Louis to give him a second and swallowed harshly.
Louis watched as Harry’s stomach heaved once, then twice before an awful sound erupted from it. Louis eyed the bin across the room and quickly moved to get up.
“Hey, hey, wait just a second, baby. Try to hold it in.” Harry nodded, pressing a hand against his mouth.
Louis quickly moved across the room, grabbing the bin before turning back around, his eyes widening as he heard sick rush into Harry’s mouth and watched as his cheeks puffed up. He moved his other hand, and pressed both to his mouth as he repeatedly forced himself through the awful process of swallowing his stomach back down. He darted back to Harry who swallowed roughly, gripping the bin Louis just handed him with a death grip. He swallowed again and took a deep breath.
“Lou-“ He was cut off as his stomach heaved slightly again. Louis could see the tears filling his eyes and his heart broke.
“It’s okay, love. I know you’re not feeling very well.” Louis said, bringing him closer to his side.
He watched as Harry heaved a few more times, seemingly fighting with himself before he let out a deep breath and sat the bin on the ground. He leaned heavily into Louis, wiping the tears from his eyes, and wrapping his arms around his waist. Louis wasted no time in embracing him back.
“That was rough. Are you okay now, love?” He felt Harry nod against him slightly. He felt Harry’s forehead again and sighed. The boy was burning up.
“Okay, angel. Here’s what we’re going to do. I’m going to go get you settled in bed, and I’m going to grab you some medicine, yeah?” Harry nodded softly and Louis helped him off the couch before wrapping an arm around his waist.
Louis slowly walked Harry to their room, holding on tightly to his waist. It was almost as if his legs had become jello at that point, and Louis was certain if he wasn’t there, he’d fall over. He slowly lowered Harry down to a sitting position, frowning when he let out a whine and buried his head in his hands. Louis assumed he was upset.
“Sweetheart? Can you look at me, love?” Harry shook his head.
“I feel- I feel like m’gonna pass out.” Louis frowned and helped the boy all the way in the bed before covering him up as he sat against the headboard staring blankly at Louis.
“I’m sorry, love. Just take it easy, I’m gonna go grab you some medicine, and then we can take a nap, yeah?”
Harry only nodded in response as Louis turned and disappeared out of the room. His stomach had started to churn like crazy again, and he was honestly scared to speak. He sat up, shivering and buried himself further under the blankets as he took deep breaths.
The longer he sat there, the more he realized throwing up was inevitable. There was only one problem, he knew if he got up from the bed that he would pass out. He sat there taking deep breaths hoping Louis would magically appear in the doorway. When he didn’t, he finally spoke up.
“Louis!” He yelled, he gagged slightly and put a hand over his mouth.
“Just a second, love.” Louis called back, obviously not sensing the urgency in his voice.
Poor Harry was past speaking at this point as he sat up further, holding both hands over his mouth. His stomach continued to heave, and each time he would swallow it back down. A few seconds later, Harry felt a really rough heave racked through him, causing him to throw up between his fingers, and splatter all over his lap, and the blankets. He held his hands there, still trying to keep it in before he realized he was way too sick to stop it, and moved his hands, retching so hard he couldn’t breathe for a moment. He threw up one more time on the blankets before continuing to swallow it back down. He finally was able to choke some air back into his lungs and cried out.
“Louis! P-please! I-I need you!”
“I know, Haz, I’ll be there shortly.” Louis called back. Harry let out a sob, his whole body shaking at this point.
“N-no I got sick, p-please hurry.” Harry cried out. He listened as he heard footsteps quickly run down the hall, Louis appearing in the doorway. He paused, his eyes growing huge, before seeing Harry’s panicking seemed to knock him out of his shocked state.
“Oh, love. I didn’t know you still felt bad enough to throw up. Are you okay now?” No response.
Louis took a moment to observe Harry. He had thrown up on himself, and the blankets very obviously, but when he looked further, he could see the boy trembling as his panicked eyes looked around. He looked like he could pass out at any second Louis could tell he was panicking, and approached quickly.
“Hey, hey, Haz, look at me, love. It’s okay.” He watched as Harry’s panicked eyes finally met him before Harry’s face completely crumbled.
“I’m- I’m so s-sorry! I didn’t-“ Louis shushed him softly.
“Shhhh, don’t talk, love. It’s okay, I promise.” He watched as Harry let out a sob, gagging on the exhale and knew he had to calm him down. The boy was shaking like a leaf. He couldn’t grab his hands or anything with them covered in sick, so he instead guided Harry’s head back and made eye contact with him.
“Breathe for me, love. Like this, watch me, there you go.” He said, gently. He watched as Harry’s whole attitude changed and he urgently tried to get out of the bed. Louis held him back, knowing if he stood he may pass out right now.
“Hey, just calm down, baby. I don’t want you standing right now.” Harry let out a cry again.
“B-but I’m gonna be sick again. D-don’t wanna be sick in the bed again Louis.” He said, letting out a sob that caused him to gag on the exhale. He moved and held both hands over his mouth again. Louis sighed.
“Love, the blankets are already dirty. Just let it happen. I’ll clean it afterwards, okay?” At that, Harry seemed to calm down slightly.
Louis watched as he saw Harry’s stomach heave, and a sick noise came from it as well. Harry moved his hand out of the way in perfect timing to projectile vomit down his front and into his lap. He let out a cry of distress in response. Louis cringed and quickly held the blankets up to his chin so he’d stop being sick on himself, as he continued to heave.
“There you go, love. Just get it all out. I got you.” Harry retched one more time, before leaning back and letting out a soft sob. Louis reached out and started rubbing his arm gently, wishing he could cuddle Harry, but knew the boy needed a shower first.
“You okay now, love?” Harry shrugged.
“I know, sweetheart. Do you feel any better?” He nodded his head softly.
“Okay, let’s get you in the shower, love. I’ll come back and clean once you’re set”
Louis took his time helping Harry get out of his dirty clothes, using the sheets to clean his hands and legs off before slowly helping him up out of the bed. He didn’t want to spread the mess around, and knew that was the easiest thing to do.
“Alright, love. Up we go.” Louis said, slowly guiding Harry up to his feet. The boy was still shaky and crying softly. Louis wrapped an arm around his waist, bringing him close to steady him. He brought Harry even closer when he felt the naked boy shivering.
He walked Harry into the bathroom, settling him down on the closed toilet seat before turning the water on and warming it up. He carefully helped Harry up making sure he got in the shower safely, noticing his watchful eyes on him.
“What is it, baby?” Harry just stared at him blankly before his cheeks turned red and he looked down.
“Love, I know you don’t feel good, but you have to use your words.” Harry nodded and swallowed.
“Stay.” He says simply reaching out for Louis and grabbing a hold of his arm. Louis chuckled,
but pulled away gently, not realizing at the time he made a mistake.
He was sure it was Harry’s fever making him emotional as he watched as Harry’s face casted downwards before tears welled up in his eyes as his face completely crumbled. He stared at Louis, still holding his arm out that once had a grasp on him, shaking slightly before turning away from him and leaning against the tile under the warm water, trying to comfort himself.
“Harry, what are you- oh sweetheart. Please don’t cry, love. I’m not upset with you, angel. I just need to clean. We can cuddle once we’re in bed, okay?” He watched as Harry’s body racked with a soft sob before he nodded softly.
Louis, not wanting to make things worse or prolong his suffering, quickly closed the shower door and moved to leave the bathroom, wincing at the cry Harry let out in his absence. He quickly traveled to the bedroom and got to work cleaning the bed.
He finished quickly, remaking the bed before he heard the water shut off, knowing Harry was done with his shower. He watched as Harry exited the bathroom before moving to the closet and putting a clean pair of boxers and a hoodie. He turned around and Louis felt his heart break. It was obvious he’d spent his shower upset.
“Baby?” Harry ignored him and moved to the bed, burying his body under the blankets as he shivered. he stuck his face into his pillow as he let out soft sobs. A particularly rough cramp must’ve rolled through him as he wrapped an arm around his middle, pitifully rubbing his own tummy.
“Lou my t-tummy.” He cried, reaching out for him. Louis frowned as he moved to the bed and settled under the covers. He laid down, watching as Harry stared at him, tears rolling down his face. He reached a hand out and rubbed his thumb across his cheek, Harry whimpering and leaned into the touch.
“I know, sweet love. I know you don’t feel good. C’mere.” Louis opened his arms up and Harry wasted no time settling into them as he laid his head on Louis' chest. Louis used one hand to massage his neck gently, while the other patted his back. He slowly rocked back and forth, the motion gently easing Harry to sleep before he shut his eyes and did the same.
-
When Louis woke a few hours later, the boy that was once laying on his chest had separated from him in his sleep. He was on the opposite side of the bed, his face etched into a deep frown as he let out whines and squirmed around slightly. He was dripping sweat, and Louis knew he’d gotten worse in his sleep. He could tell the boy was having a nightmare and gently moved over closer to him, rubbing up and down his arms enough to hopefully wake him, but not startle him. He could feel the heat blazing through Harry’s skin and frowned, noting to himself to take his temperature once he was sure the boy was okay.
“Hazza? Wake up for me, love.” He watched as Harry stilled for a moment before jumping up with a gasp, Louis putting his arm out to be sure the boy wouldn’t throw himself out of bed with the violent motion. His panicked eyes looked all around the room before settling on Louis, as he tried to catch his breath.
Louis definitely wasn’t prepared when Harry’s face crumbled as he buried his face in his hands, letting out a violent sob on the exhale. Louis cringed, and moved to lean Harry against him, and cuddle him into his side.
“It’s okay, love. I’m here. It was just a dream.” He held Harry tighter when he let out a sharp cry, hiding his face in Louis' shoulder.
Louis wasn’t sure how long they sat there before Harry leaned up and looked at him. He was still crying, and Louis hated it. He looked a bit nervous, and uncomfortable, and it immediately concerned Louis.
“You okay?” Harry shook his head.
“What’s the matter, sweetheart? He watched as Harry put a hand on his stomach before swallowing deeply. Louis' eyes widened, and he quickly moved to get up, taking Harry up with him, cursing himself for not putting a bin by the bed when he felt Harry’s stomach heave where his arm was wrapped around his waist.
“Come on, bathroom, hurry.” Louis said, guiding him to the bathroom quickly. Harry pulled away from him, pressing a hand to his mouth as his mouth filled with sick, running over to the toilet as fast as his weak body would take him. Louis wasn’t far behind him, but paused to watch.
He watched as a particularly rough heave went through Harry, making him retch. He quickly leaned over the toilet, moving his hand a moment too late as it became collateral damage to his stomach. He threw up all over the seat, and floor by the toilet before finally lowering himself down, and getting his head completely over the toilet. Louis sighed, and rubbed his back, Harry taking the sigh the wrong way.
“I’m, I’m sorry! I didn’t-“ a rough gag cut him off.
“Shhh. You’re okay, don’t try to talk.” Louis said, rubbing up and down his back.
“I know you didn’t mean too, love. It’s not a big deal.” Harry nodded and finally leaned back into Louis. Louis grabbed some toilet paper and cleaned his hand and mouth off the best he could.
“Let’s get you cleaned up and back in bed, yeah? Want to watch a movie?” He watched as the ghost of a smile went across Harry’s face as Louis reached out and wiped the remaining tears from his face.
After getting the boy cleaned up and back in bed, this time set with a bin nearby, Louis cleaned before settling in bed with him. Harry cuddled up to his chest, and Louis kissed his head as he got comfortable, chuckling when he guided Louis’ hand down to his tummy, letting him know he wanted it to be rubbed. He rubbed gentle but firm circles into his tummy, and started one of Harry’s Favorites on the tv, before he knew it, they were both asleep again.
When Harry woke a while later,
his stomach was feeling relatively settled. He felt a bit lonely, and really wanted Louis though, so he decided to reach over to wake the sleeping boy next to him. He softly shook Louis awake, who’s eyes fluttered open before landing on Harry’s with a small smile.
“Hi.” Louis breathed out. Harry took that as an open invitation to move as close to Louis as he possibly could, who didn’t hesitate to wrap an arm around him and bring him closer.
“Cuddly are we? How’s your tummy?” He said, running his finger through Harry’s sweaty, tangled curls. Harry closed his eyes and hummed contentedly momentarily.
“Feels okay… Actually, I think I’m a bit hungry.” He smiled at Louis who smiled back before sitting up, and bringing the sick boy up with him.
“Yeah? How about I go get you some toast to try on your stomach?” Harry nodded softly, whining when Louis pulled away, and holding on tighter. He forgot wanting food meant Louis would have to leave for a few minutes. He chuckled.
“I know you want me, love. But I’ll be right back, as fast as possible, okay?” Harry frowned but nodded
Louis quickly went to the kitchen, putting some bread in the toaster and waiting for it to pop up. When it did, he put it on a plate, grabbed Harry a glass of water and headed back to the room.
The moment he got in the room, Harry’s eyes lit up and he reached out for him. Louis chuckled, sitting the toast down on the bed side table before climbing back in bed. He patted the empty space between his legs, which immediately had Harry up to lay in between them. He laid his head back on Louis' stomach, and sighed in content, reaching for Louis' hand to hold. Louis slipped his hand in his, bringing his hand up to kiss it, before grabbing the toast and handing it to Harry.
He played something on the TV softly, and rubbed Harry’s tummy while he ate in hopes of helping the food digest a bit easier. He managed to eat both pieces of toast, which Louis praised him for before sitting his plate back on the table.
They laid there for a while in the same position, Harry eventually turning himself into Louis' chest, as Louis continued to rub circles into his tummy. Louis assumed he was just tired, and left it at that.
It wasn’t until Louis was certain he could feel Harry’s stomach churning under his palm did he realize Harry must not be feeling very good again. His stomach was making awful noises, and he would occasionally whimper when Louis felt his tummy stir under his hand. He waited a while, just rubbing his tummy until he felt his stomach clench, and Harry immediately moved to sit up.
“L-Lou. I’m g-gonna.” Louis was already grabbing the bin and placing it in Harry’s lap who grabbed it with a firm grip.
“I know. You’re gonna throw up, baby. It’s okay, I’m right here.” Harry whimpered.
They sat there for a while, Harry’s tummy heaving unproductively. Louis could feel his stomach heaving occasionally under his palm,
as it fought to expel his previous, sad excuse of a meal.
He felt a particularly rough heave go through Harry’s middle under his hand, making Harry rock forward with a gag, nothing coming up. Harry let out a distressed cry, and pushed Louis hand further into his tummy. Louis got the hint and rubbed deeper circles as his stomach began to heave again.
It took a bit, but eventually Harry rocked forward with a retch, bringing up most of his small meal on the first go, before he had to be sick three more times after that. Louis cringed, and shushed him softly as his cries increased between gags.
“Shhh. I know, baby. You’re doing so good.” He watched as Harry went forward again over the bin with another heave, gurgling out another retch, the only result being a watery mouthful of sick and stomach acid.
“Love, you didn’t even eat that much…” Louis whispered sadly.
“I’m sor-“ He was cut off by another gag.
“Shhh. I don’t want you apologizing. It’s not your fault, baby. Just worry about feeling better.” He felt Harry nod against him before he lowered the bin, seemingly done.
He wiped his mouth on his sleeve, before he let out a harsh cry, burying his face into Louis' chest again. Louis frowned.
“Sweetheart, what’s the matter.” Harry shrugged.
“Just feeling poorly, is that all?” He felt Harry nod gently against his chest.
“I know, love. I’m sorry. Wish it were me instead.”
Louis sat there continuing to comfort him when suddenly Harry tensed, and pulled away from him. He heaved, slapping a hand over his mouth, and Louis’ eyes widened. A mouthful of sick came up and he caught it in his hand with a distressed cry, staring at Louis who lifted the bin and brought it up to his lap. Harry moved to let his hand and mouth go over the bin. luckily it seemed like a one and done, from his stomach just not completely settling yet.
“I h-hate this. Just wanna go to sleep.” He trailed off into a whimper. Louis shushed him softly before getting up from the bed, Harry whining softly in response.
“No, don’t leave, I’m sorry, I-.” Louis frowned. He hated that through his fever delirium, he really thought Louis was just going to leave him there, hanging over the bin with a hand covered in sick.
“Baby, I’m not going anywhere, I promise. I just want to get your hands cleaned, come here, love.” Harry nodded softly and moved to get up with Louis, washing his hand off at the bathroom sink.
After washing his hands, Louis had the boy drink down a water bottle, after threatening to take him to the hospital, and then both boys settled back in bed. Harry immediately clinging to Louis as he shivered slightly, pressing as close as he could against him for comfort and warmth.
“Go to sleep, sweetie. I’ll be here when you wake up.” Louis said softly, running a hand through the back of his curls. He let out a whine, and Louis shushed him softly.
“Louis. My tummy feels really sick.” He whined out.
“I know, baby. Just try to sleep for now.” He was hoping the boy could just sleep the remainder of the illness off.
He still felt awful as he finally began to doze off to sleep, his stomach was churning and tossing the water around like crazy. He still managed to fall into a deep sleep though, listening to Louis’ comforting heartbeat.
Once Louis knew he was fast asleep, he gently separated from the boy, laying his head across the bed on his own pillow before covering him up. He barely stirred, and Louis knew it was because the boy's body was exhausted.
He carefully got up, sneaking away to make sure he didn’t wake the younger boy up, also knowing if Harry realized he was leaving there would be tears involved. He went out to the living room, and settled in, eating some food, since he hadn't had a chance too, and watching tv.
About an hour had passed when Louis heard slight coughing from the bedroom. Harry hadn’t called out for him or anything, so he figured he just needed to clear his throat. He waited a while longer, before getting up and traveling across the house to check on him.
When he opened the door, he didn’t notice anything at first, everything seemed perfectly fine. He could hear Harry softly snoring, and he was sleeping rather peacefully. He did notice the boy was uncovered now, and shivering slightly, so he approached to cover him back up. But when he rounded Harry's side of the bed to cover him back up, he realized the boy had gotten sick in his sleep. It was all over his arm and pillow, and Louis cringed, sighing softly. He knew Harry couldn’t help it, he was dead asleep, but it still didn’t make it anymore pleasant. He rubbed up and down Harry’s warm side gently.
“Haz baby. Wake up for me, love.” Harry opened his eyes momentarily before shutting them again with a whine. His tummy felt awful.
“Baby. I know you're tired, but you have to wake up.” He moved slightly, still not processing anything.
“Sweetheart, I know. But you got sick in your sleep. We need to get you cleaned up, okay?”
He watched as Harry stirred slightly, before the words seemed to register in his head. His eyes opened widely, and he moved to sit up on his arm, before looking down at it and his pillow. He realized he was covered in sick and that only served to make him nauseous again. He shut his eyes tightly and swallowed, not being able to look at it anymore. He could feel the last bit left in his stomach, tumbling around and trying to come back up. He shook his head slightly, feeling what little color he had left drain from his face.
“Angel? let’s get you up, and clean. Come on.” Louis pulled at his clean arm, trying to sit him all the way up, so he could get him standing and walk to the bathroom for a shower.
Harry shook his head no, whining and pulling away from Louis. His breathing was picking up, and Louis saw a few tears roll down his cheeks. Louis frowned and tried again.
“Love? You have to tell me what’s wrong. Please don’t fight me here, okay?” Harry whimpered again.
Louis decided to just give him a moment to see what he would do. He rubbed up and down his side in what he hoped was a comforting manner as Harry sat there trembling with his eyes shut. Harry made the mistake of opening his eyes, seeing the sick around and on him, and felt his throat tense with a gag. He held it in, and cringed.
“Harry? Are you going to be sick?” Louis said softly, trying not to upset the boy.
Harry didn’t answer. He was too focused on his stomach too. He looked one more time at himself, and that’s all it took for his stomach to heave. He gagged once, bringing up everything left in his stomach on the first try, splashing around his pillow and arm again, before he started dry heaving violently over the mess, and letting out soft crys.
“Damn.” Louis said guiltily. He was feeling like the world's worst caregiver.
“Okay, it’s okay, sweetheart. Just let it come up. Don’t try holding it in.” He watched as Harry just seemed to violently dry heave over the mess, not bringing anything up, and Louis knew he had to be tearing his throat to shreds. A part of it was that he was so worked up, his stomach couldn’t calm down.
“Oh baby. Please calm down, love. You’re gonna hurt yourself.” Harry retched one more time, finally bringing up a bit of stomach acid before collapsing back in exhaustion. Louis could see his stomach trying to heave, and rubbed his tummy in firm circles to calm his angry muscles down.
When Harry’s stomach finally stopped trying to expel food that wasn’t even there anymore, he sat up with Louis' help, taking a deep breath and opening his eyes. He flashed Louis a heartbreaking look, who felt his heart shatter. He could tell Harry was really torn up about this.
“Darling, It’s okay that you got sick, okay? I know you didn’t mean too. I shouldn’t have let you sleep with such a sick tummy. Everything’s okay, I promise.”
Louis felt a bit helpless as he watched as Harry’s face crumbled anyways. He really felt awful. Harry warned him that his stomach was still sick, and he let him go to sleep anyway. He couldn’t help but feel like it was all his fault. He wrapped Harry in a side hug the best he could with sick all over him, and put a hand under his shirt to massage his warm back. It seemed to mostly work, the only thing left was the occasional tear, and hiccup. He decided it was time to move.
“Okay, love. Here’s what we’re going to do. I’m going to wipe you down with the clean parts of the sheets again, then we’re gonna get you in the shower.” Harry whined softly.
“What is it, baby?” Harry looked a little shy, but spoke up anyways.
“Uhm, c-can you shower with me p-please? Don’t wanna be alone, my tummy's still sick.” Louis frowned softly at him, and kissed his head. Harry looked a bit nervous about his answer.
“Course I can, baby. Let’s go, okay?” Harry nodded and let out a noticeable sigh of relief at Louis' words. Louis knew he was clingy, and didn’t want to be alone right now. And he certainly wasn’t willing to watch, or make Harry cry again.
Louis helped Harry uo from the bed, and tried everything to get him to walk to the bathroom, but it was as if the boy's legs had become jello. Louis knew he had to carry him.
“Want a carry, love?” Harry’s face lit up, and he reached out his arms to Louis. He chuckled, opening his arms as well.
Harry wrapped his arms around his neck, and legs around his waist so he wouldn’t be carrying dead weight, and settled in, letting out a deep breath as he breathed Louis comforting scent in, calming himself down. Louis held him up under his bum and walked them to the bathroom, sitting him down on the toilet seat.
He warmed up the water, both boys stepping inside, Louis frowning when He noticed Harry slowly lowering himself to the shower floor, Louis grabbing his arm and bringing him the rest of the way down before he slipped.
“Baby?” Why’d you move to the ground, love?”
“Sh-shaky. Feels like, like m’gonna pass out. Need to sit down, m’sorry.” Louis frowned and squatted down.
“Shhh. No need to apologize, love. I’d rather you be safe on the shower floor, than pass out and slip, okay? Come here, sweetheart.” Louis lowered himself to the floor, settling Harry against him and rubbing his side. He sat there for a while until he noticed the younger boy was nearly asleep, and pulled away. Harry whined, and frowned.
“I know, love. Let’s get you clean, and we can go lay down in the guest room until I clean our bed, okay?” Harry nodded.
Louis grabbed the soap, before lowering himself down and cleaning Harry the best he could with him sitting, before washing himself. He looked down and noticed Harry had his head against the shower wall, half asleep again. He let out a sad smile, massaging a hand through his wet curls, his eyes softly fluttering open.
Louis reached out and shut the water off, wincing at how hard Harry was shivering now. He quickly grabbed a towel, wrapping it around Harry’s shoulder before wrapping one around his waist and getting the boy to his feet. He lifted Harry up again, and placed him in the chair inside their room while he grabbed them both clothes, getting dressed and helping Harry do the same.
He lifted Harry again, carrying him to the guest room and settling him under the blankets. He left to the bathroom to get Harry some water and the bin just in case, and noticed Harry’s eyes followed his every move to make sure he wasn’t going to leave him.
“I’m right here, love. I’m not leaving, I promise, okay?” Harry nodded.
Louis got himself situated in bed before opening his arms up. Harry smiled at him before he immediately moved into Louis arms, burying his face in his neck. Louis could feel his soft warm breath against him, and patted his back gently.
“Go to sleep, baby. I’ll be here when you’re awake.” And Harry allowed himself to dose off, knowing Louis would be there the whole time.
