Chapter Text
Elrin stared at her, unable to believe that this creature, completely drunk on the power she had ripped away from others, was the very same soul he had shared his nightmares, his thoughts and wishes with since his childhood. He knew she was more than her power hungry addiction made her out to be to the rest of the world. With a final thought he raised his mental barrier to her, shutting her out to the plan forming in the recesses of his psyche.
He got down on his knees and began to pray to Selune for the power and strength to bind her from her power forever. Slowly feeling the silvery touch of the goddess he looked up through the ruins seeing the glow of the moon and the incantation he needed reflected there. Gathering the power he spoke the spell quietly not wishing to be heard just yet, but suddenly she turned towards him and just past the glow in her eyes he could see fear in the dark depths of emerald. As the spell took shape and he neared the end he opened himself fully and sent the spell hurtling toward her. Not expecting such betrayal from him she was unprepared, her shields down for the ceremony she hadn’t yet completed.
Shocked, the witch-queen could only watch as the curse tore the power from her, her’s and the stolen magic, and warped it to fuel its own binding over herself. He watched her crumple to the ground a weak and broken thing without the power of her magic to help her any longer. He felt the goddess’s touch one last time.
“She can find redemption.” Selunes' clear quiet voice whispered to him.
Stumbling over to Shevaria he pulled her across his lap and wept, despair over what he had done to the woman he loved wracked him. Seeing the curse that surrounded her now he knew she would not know him upon awakening. So memorizing the features he found so plain yet so striking with animation, he propped her up and left. There were many thing to fix now and the kingdom held together with the power of the former witch-queen was likely to collapse now that the power was gone suddenly in the night. Someone would need to fill the new void and fix all that she’d broken in her endless quest for power to fuel her affliction. Sighing with one last look he turned and left her to her own device’s, hopefully to discover her redemption as he had with Selunes help.
