Chapter Text
“You know if you wouldn’t be totally displeased by the idea of me going with you, I might be of some help” Enid suggested to Wednesday.
“Fine, but if you mess anything up you will not come again” Wednesday caved.
“Great” Enid yelled jumping up and down as she watched Wednesday continue to pack a bag.
Well much has changed since the beginning of the year, one thing stays the same, and that’s the fact that Wednesday Addam’s was as cold as they come. Well it sort of hasn’t changed. As much as she wished not to admit it one thing that had most certainly changed was the fact that she began to find comfort in Enids presence.
“Let’s go, before we are late” Wednesday quickly said before leaving her and thing in her room.
Enid quickly grabbed her camping bags and ran after Wednesday. The whole class was going on a camping trip in hopes to bond. But the only issue was were they were going to camp, was not Wednesday’s first pick.
The same woods she has nearly lost her life in, MULTIPLE times, is where she was going to be staying for the next week. The new headmistress clearly did not do her research’s other wise she would have seen the do not include box checked off for Wednesday anywhere near these woods. At the time she had been mad at her parents for checking that box, but as they approached closer a sickening feeling began to swell up, from deep within her.
The school bus approached a clearing in the trees and stopped in front. A lady got onto the bus, she was most likely the new headmistress. She wore all black and had a rib cracking corset on. Wednesday felt her stomach drop even more as she layer eyes onto the woman. Missy Addams, Wednesday’s aunt, the black sheep of the family, for all to right reasons.
“Wednesday you look pale, well you always look pale but now more that ever, are you all right” Bianca asked the girl who looked like she had seen a ghost, twice.
“I’m excellent after all it is a gorgeous day outside” Wednesday looked out the window to see the foggy and rainy surroundings of the area beyond the bus.
“Right, well let’s get off” Xavier cut in, climbing off the bus.
“The new headmistress is already done speaking? I wonder what she said” Bianca questioned as she became more aware of what was happening around her.
“Trust me when I say it was most likely nothing of any importance” Wednesday quickly pushed off the topic of the headmistress, or in simpler terms, her aunt Missy.
Wednesday, Enid, Bianca, Xavier and Ajax climes off the bus, they were last to get their tent assignments.
“I got tent 32” Xavier told them.
“Sweet me too” Ajax walked over near Xavier.
“I have tent 37” Bianca said reading her slip of paper.
“Me too” Enid told her excitedly.
“How miserable I get a tent by myself” Wednesday nearly let a smile crawl across her face.
That smile quickly disappeared when she felt the presence of her aunt arrive near the group. “I figured you would enjoy the solo tent Wednesday” Missy spoke to the group. “Aunt Missy” Wednesday plainly acknowledged her.
There was an obvious look of surprise that had washed over the group of friends. Well it was true that they both wore there hair the same and had a similar clothing pallet, the chances of her aunt becoming the headmistress were very unlikely. The only one who didn’t seem surprised was Wednesday’s bee buddy, Eugene, who had snuck into the group. He seemed to know every last detail on the cold hearted girl, and despite the inherited creepiness of that statement, it was more of like a brotherly type of way.
“You are still just as annoying as your mother I see, well you have the next hour to settle in, by then it will be dark, and I advise you come join the class to eat. That goes for all of you, so go on. Go” Missy quickly pushed the kids off their different ways.
Even though they were in separate tents, Wednesday and Enid still ended up in neighboring tents. Enid celebrated for a few minutes before they both went into their own tents. Wednesday let out a sigh she didn’t know she was holding. The truth of the matter is well normally she would enjoy the opportunity to be alone, this was the one time she wished to be with someone, anyone. Normally she would have thing with her, but he had to stay, in order to watch over Wednesday’s journal. Yes Wednesday’s, she decided she would fill a journal with everything she knows about every monster she came across, but it was important to note that certain people gaining access to those notes could result in the total extinction of those species of monsters.
“Damnit I could really use you thing” Wednesday’s normal stone face changed to despear as memories of what happened only a month ago came rushing back. Well it was true part of it was fun and enjoyable, it had hit her in a way she did not like. It had changed the way she thought and way she processed things. It had changed her from who she used to be, and that was more scary than anything else.
Alone in a tent things were still and quiet, she feared for what would happen when night fell, she feared of what was waiting in them. More so, who was waiting in them. It was well known that Tyler might have not made it to his destination, there was a rumor spiraling around that he had escaped. That, was the one thing that truly scared her.
“Wednesday” Enid yelled coming threw the tent door.
Her heart nearly sank as she heard the sudden loud noise from Enid, but she quickly regained her normal expression and tone.
“Did I just scare you” Enid questioned sitting down next to her.
“You and I both know how unbelievably impossible it would be for me to get scared by you” Wednesday denied her question.
“Alright, well later we are all going to go on a walk down to the lake shore, want to come with us” Enid expected a no.
“Yes” Wednesday eagerly told her.
“Great, meet us by the two crossing trees after whatever class bonding activity your aunt wants to do. I think she had an ice breaker game, she had done at her old school she worked for, I honestly forgot what she had said on the bus“ Enid said goodbye to Wednesday and left.
Normally she would have revived a quick no, almost as quickly as the yes came, but Wednesday was willing to do anything it took to be with other people for as long as it took. Everyone else around her seemed to get over the events fast. They all seem unbothered by it, which is normally Wednesday’s line. Maybe it’s because there life wasn’t almost ended multiple times in these woods, or maybe it’s because the boy they loved didn’t turn out to be a psychotic serial killer who was trying to bring a racist and homophobic colonizer back from the dead. Maybe it’s because the boy they shared their first kiss with didn’t end up trying to kill them, twice. Maybe it’s because they didn’t think they were going to die alone, and instead of the joy they thought they would feel, a sickness of guilt and loneliness hit them like a fright train and suddenly they no longer wished to die.
Or maybe they simply got over things faster.
