Pit.
Patter.
Pit.
The rain had seemed endless that day but the girl didn't care, it just gave her an actual reason to use her umbrella.
And besides, as long as she got a chance to meet up with that jeweler she didn't really care.
In fact if she just got a chance to get free time from her home, she felt as if she could breathe, for just a little bit.
As the girl continued walking throughout the city aimlessly she slowly realized she really had no idea where she was going.
"Hmm…maybe I could stop by at that bug bakery everyone's buzzing about..." She thought. "Ah but…it'd probably be meaningless anyways…I should just stop by the jeweler's and-"
At that moment her train of thought stopped as her ears picked up a melodious tune, as if an angel had been luring her in.
Without second thought she followed the tune aimlessly, following it to no end.
That's when she saw her.
A girl with an utmost odd get-up, dancing and singing in the rain.
"Hah? Just what is this girl's deal? Does she not realize how much of of burden she'll be if she catches a cold?" The girl pondered.
Even so she couldn't help but be entranced by her performance. As if it was reaching out to her- no, to her heart. Reaching out to it, as if trying to save it. At that moment it almost felt as if they were one as if their locked gazes meant-
*BAM*
"Owie…"
"Ah…do you need…help…?"
Amitie's face grew red at the sight of the pristine girl holding out her hand before her.
"Nono it's ok I'm fine hehe~" Amitie exclaimed, whilst perking herself up.
"Ah…then would you like to explain to me why you are out here dancing in the rain like a maniac?"
"O-oh that um…"
Amitie was at a loss for words as she stared directly into Feli's sapphire blue eyes.
"Ah jeez what do I say!" The girl thought to herself "I mean what AM I supposed to say to the prettiest and popularist girl in the entire town, no, probably the entire WORLD"
"U-uh w-well uh…I-I'm Amitie a-and my dream is to become the bestest singer in the world! S-so I moved here and ever since I've been working super mega extra hard to get my name known! A-also my favorite food's cheesecake with strawberry syrup on it and my favorite singer's-"
"Alright that's enough" Feli interrupted. "I asked for an explanation for why you were out here not for your life's story"
"A-ah! Sorry I just have a tendency to ramble and you're so pretty and- OH SHOOT I DID IT AGAIN!"
Feli stared at the girl in front of her for a bit.
"Ah so she is one of…those people…" She thought.
At that moment Feli begun feeling annoyed, at both the girl and herself for what she was about to do.
"Whatever, you can't stay in the rain afterall you will catch a cold"
"I-I'm flattered you care but it's ok I'm 100% okie do-do-ACHOO"
"Sigh…do you need a handkerchief because I have one on me?"
"N-no it's *sniffle* fine"
"See you have snot running down your face let me clean it off"
"A-ah wait-"
Amitie's face just grew redder and redder as the girl in front of her cleaned her face using her handkerchief.
"Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh the prettiest and richest girl in the entire town's so close to my face what do I do!"
"U-uh th-thanks uh...uh…"
"Feli. But you probably already know that considering your reaction to seeing me"
"O-oh uh…yeah th-thanks Feli!" Amitie said, still at a lost for words.
"Well anyways, Amitie, was it? You are clearly catching a cold so why don't you stay at m-"
Feli froze for a minute.
"Ah…what am I thinking…" She moped. "If I let a commoner into my- their home my parents shall surely punish me severely…"
Then it struck her.
"Ah if I take her there then she will be taken care of!"
It felt like a bad idea at first as that place was the only thing she really had to keep her comfort but it didn't really matter, many people entered and exited even if it felt sacred to her, it really was just another commoner meeting ground.
And besides, what other choice did she have? If she did nothing then surely that girl would just get worse.
"I-I'll take you to the jeweler's"
"The…jeweler's…?"
"Yes. I have a friend there he can take care of you"
"A-at…the jeweler's…?"
"Yes at the jeweler's do you have a problem with that?"
"N-no not at all!" Amitie responded, despite not completely understanding why she had a friend at the jeweler's of all places.
Afterall the owner was notorious for being um…well…himself to say the least so the thought of such a pristine and beautiful girl hanging around the city's odde- 2nd oddest person would be quite the site to say the least.
But she never exactly specified who it was so it's fine, surely it couldn't have been the jeweler and rather just someone who visited often.
It was the jeweler.
Her friend was the jeweler.
"Oh yay! My favorite customer Feli!"
"Favorite?" Feli exclaimed, her eyes lighting up as if she was a small child receiving a present from a family member.
"Oops sorry that sorta came out of nowhere didn't it~ an-y-ways looks like you brought a friend with you today~"
"A friend?- Oh right this is Amitie. Amitie this is the jeweler, but he is also known as Lemres"
"Yeah…he's also known as…alot of other things…" Amitie remarked in her head.
"Gee Feli no need to be so formal~ loosen up a bit will ya~"
"A-ah right sorry Mr. Lemres!"
"Ahaha don't worry no need to apologize~"
At that moment Lemres turned and grinned at the girl hiding behind his friend.
"An-y-ways~ Hiya there Amitie~ you here to see my collectioooon~"
"UH YEAH NO THANKS I'M GOOD LIKE INSANELY SUPER MEGA GOOD!"
"O-oh…"
"W-well I'll just get some tea and cookies ready for you tw-"
"Actually" Feli interrupted "I should be heading home now, so you shouldn't have to worry"
"Ehhh~ Alreeeeady~ but you just came~" Lemres whined.
"Look if you need company you can speak to Amitie, Amitie be sure to take good care of my bro- my friend in my absence. The same shall apply to you Mr. Lemres"
"Wh-WHAAAAAT!?" Amitie blurted.
"Well with that I shall be on my wa-"
"FELI WAIT!"
Without second thought Amitie's hand latched onto Feli's. Both gazing into eachothers eyes as Amitie inched closer to Feli.
"A-Amitie w-what are you-" Feli stuttered, her face tinted in a light shade of red.
"Feli you can't just leave me here!"
"Afterall…." Amitie whispered.
"...."
"...This guy's totes insane, like definitely not normal!"
"..."
"That's what you wanted to tell me?!"
"W-well I couldn't say it super loud I mean he's right here!"
"Well he is not insane! You people just don't get him!"
"Uh should I go or…"
"B-b-b-but I heard somewhere that he talks to rocks and tucks them into bed! And that he feeds them and kisses them goodnight!"
"So what if he does! That doesn't…"
Feli paused for a moment.
"Th-that doesn't…."
"...."
"Alright fine I'll stay but only because if I leave you here alone with Mr. Lemres you will do nothing but terrorize him"
Amitie's face lit up at Feli's statement, hell she didn't even care if she was insulting her, she was just glad she wasn't gonna be stuck alone with oddball numero dos all day.
"Oh Feli~" Amitie exclaimed, tightly wrapping her arms around the girl.
"A-ah h-hey Amitie what are you- LET GO THIS INSTANT!"
"Uwaah, sorry I just got really excited and-"
"Fufufu…I see…"
At that moment Amitie jumped.
"Riiiight….that guy's still here…"
"Weeeell~ I'll go get some tea ready you two just stay here and wait for me ok~?"
"Y-yes Mr. Lemres!"
The two girls sat down on a near-by couch and afterwards Lemres shut the door, leaving the two girls together.
Alone.
Silence fell shortly after. Insanely suffocating silence.
"Sooooo…you got any hobbies?" Amitie awkwardly let out, in an attempt to break the ice.
"Fortu- I mean b-ballet since it is refined and pristine"
" What??? But it totally sounded like you had a different one …"
"Oh um well…y-you seen any good plays…?"
"Each and everyone is predictable so- I-I mean uh I-I have personal plays made for me so y-you probably don't know them…"
"Huh?? But it totally sounds like you were gonna say they were boring…"
"Ok um well…do you…like music…?"
"Only yo- I mean only classical as it is the only refined genre out there"
At that moment Amitie's eyes lit up in joy as well as shock. I mean who WOULDN'T be shocked if the one of the most famous people in steam city complimented their singing, even if it was a mistake.
"WAIT WHERE YOU ABOUT TO SAY MY SONG?!" Amitie exclaimed, jumping onto Feli like an excited puppy.
"What the- n-no of course not! Like hell the music of a commoner like you could ever resonate with me!"
"Ehhh~ but I could've SWORN I heard you say you liked it just now~" Amitie whined.
"Well your ears must've heard wrong, after all there's no way I could like something s-so…unrefined…AND WAIT HEY GET OFF OF ME!"
"Oh right sorry! But jeez we can't have a conversation if you're just gonna keep lying the entire time!"
"Lying…?"
"Yeah like you're always changing what you say in the middle of your sentence so…"
"I-I am not!"
"You so are! And not to mention you've been all 'bleeeh' and 'ugaaah' this entire time"
"What does that even…l-look it doesn't matter, if the impression that I am not in the best mood is coming off then maybe it's because I'm stuck here! I mean do you know what my parents would do if they found out I was in a place like thi-"
Feli immediately shut herself up. How could she have let something like that slip. She wouldn't say anything about it right? She could just move on from this, right?
"Y-your parents…don't know that you're…here…?"
Feli looked down and bit her lip.
And once again, uncomfortable silence filled the ro-
*BAM*
"He-y-a-the-re-giiiirls~" Lemres chimed in his usual chipper tune.
"A-ah! M-mr. Lemres!"
"Tehe~ sorry I took so long~ I just got carried away with the baking and also I had to make sure there was enough for the rocks too~"
"You had to what" Amitie let out, her face distorting out of fear.
"You knoooow~ for the rocks! Af-ter-aaaall~ they deserve some cookies toooooo~"
"Oh my god the rumors were not kidding he is actually insane"
"Jeez Mr. Lemres…you know if you keep acting like…this you'll never stopped getting lumped together with that perverted alchemist and his inane roommate right? Is that what you want? To be remembered as the second part of the 'oddball 3 course meal' or 'the weirdotron9000' or-"
"Now now Feeeeli~ you really gotta stop worrying about what others think~" Lemres interrupted, whilst gently patting the young girl staring at him in annoyance. "And besides those guys seem pre-tty-ok-ay-to-meeee~"
"Geee I wonder why…" Amitie thought to herself.
"Stop worrying huh…"
"....?"
Feli slowly propped herself up and walked towards the exit.
"Well it's getting late so I should probably g-"
"Ehhhhh~ Alreeeeeady~ but you haven't even touched your teeeeeeeaa~"
"A-actually m-maybe she should I mean her parents don't even know that she-"
"Now now that doesn't matter~" Lemres (annoyingly) interrupted. "I mean sure it is getting dark but also it's reeeeeeeally rainy and cold outside~ why I even heard thunder earlier so sending off a sweeeeeet girl like Feli out into the rain is deeeeeefinitely a no-go~"
"I appreciate the compliment but my parents will get concerned so I really should g-"
"I'm sure your parents'll thank me~"
"Maybe if your's were still around…." Feli muttered under her breath.
"What was that"
"N-nothing!"
"Good"
"L-look it's getting late I don't want my parents to get ma-"
"Well do you wanna go home~"
Feli paused at the jeweler's words. In truth she really didn't but she had to, if she did not, she would face consequences. But even so something in the back of her mind told her to stay, for just a bit longer, to just, stay.
It was selfish, she knew it was but she still didn't want to leave. Not yet.
"F-fine I'll stay…"
"Yay~!"
"U-uh are you really really REALLY super mega sure cuz just earlier you said your parents didn't know you were here and and-"
"No no, Mr. Lemres is correct, it is far too dangerous to leave on my own and if I caught a cold that would be far more troublesome"
"I could walk you home!" Amitie exclaimed.
"I-I appreciate the offer but I simply cannot accept it, afterall, if my parents saw me walking home with a commoner they would surely collapse"
"W-wouldn't they be more concerned if their daughter was hanging around the local weirdo?!"
"And besides, if you went with me, you would surely fall ill, and I brought you here so you wouldn't so it would be pointless if-"
"That's a chance I'm willing to take to make sure you get home safe Feli!"
"....As I was going to say, this whole thing would be pointless if you escorted me back to my abode"
"O-oh come to think of it…it really would be huh…" Amitie said, her face tinted red out of embarrassment.
"Weeeeell~ since your staying how about you join me and the others for tea~"
"T-the others…? But aren't we the only…."
"I swear to god Lemres if you're talking about the rocks right now I am going to gauge your eyes out with a spoon"
"...."
"......."
"I'm not talking about the rocks. I'm not talking about the rocks. I'm not talking about the rocks I'm not talking about the ro-"
"Ok you can shut up now"
"Y-yes ma'am!"
And once again silence fell across the room, though this time it was more out of fear than awkwardness.
Especially on Amitie's side. Even though the threat was targeted towards Lemres she could have never imagined such a refined and beautiful girl to just. Calmly say something like that.
"Soooooo….you guys try any of the sweets from that bug bakery~"
"IS HE SERIOUSLY TALKING RIGHT NOW!? DIDN'T FELI JUST THREATEN HIM?!"
"No I have not, I heard it was good though I have not much interest"
" O-oh so we're all just gonna…forget that…ok then!"
"Oh you know my friend actually runs the bakery!" Amitie exclaimed.
"Oh now does he?"
"Yeah! I've known him for a while now so we're pretty much inseparable! Why he even let's me preform outside sometime!"
"Ehhhh~ that must be nice~"
"It is it is! He's really cool! Though most of the times he's all 'buweeeeh' and 'dotdotdotdotdot' and 'bloopbloop' so it's kinda hard to tell what he's thinking but he's super mega awesome!"
"What the actual hell is this girl saying anymore"
"Oh then-in-that-caaaase~ you mind telling him to let me try some of his bug bread~"
"F-for free or…."
"Nope! I'll be sure to pay him I just want to receive some bug bread straight out of the oven from him!"
"What"
"Does he…not…give you bug bread…?"
"Nope!" Lemres chuckled. "He only gives me regular bread…not sure why though…"
"Whaaaaat but he ALWAYS gives people bug bread, like he's super DUPER eager to give out bug bread, what could be the difference with you?"
"Hmmm I'm not really sure~" Lemres sighed while popping a cookie into his mouth. "Though if it helps he does usually glare at me everytime I enter his bakery~"
"Oh does he now…"
"Yeah and sometimes when I'm there with Schezo, he always says that he can hear Sig mumbling stuff about him wanting us to…'kill ourselves' And wishing he could poison the bread legally~"
"What"
" WHAT!?"
Amitie just sat and stared in shock there's no WAY Sig could say something like that! I mean Sig was usually kind and very keen on customer service so-
"Say…Mr. Lemres…"
"Yeeees Feli~?"
"Does he give bug bread to Witch?"
"Oh yeah he does! That's the only way I'm able to eat it actually~"
"Wait but I still don't get it! How come Witch gets bug bread but Lemres doesn't!"
"Schezo…was it…does he…also get bug bread?"
"Nooope~ only Witch~!"
"Yeah no that makes even less sense! I mean Sig's so nice and-"
"You…should probably just stick to getting bug bread from Witch since you insist on eating it so badly…"
"Ehhh why~?"
"Yeah why?! I mean I could just talk to Sig and tell him to-"
"Let's just say it's best if Mr. Lemres's kind did not show up to the bakery"
"Whaaaat?! But wouldn't that include Witch I seriously don't get it!"
"My…kind…?"
"Well since he's usually more violent when you're around Schezo I assume it is because you're…"
"I'm…?"
"..."
"...."
"......."
*Sip*
"Wow this tea is really good Mr. Lemres. I am quite impressed by your progress"
" Did she just?! Change the topic?!"
"Hehehe~ I'm glad you think so Fe-li~"
"Is he just?! Going along with it?!"
"Af-ter-aaaaaall~ when it comes to making tea nobody can beat yoooou~"
"You really think so?"
"I know so! Afteraaaaall~ you're tea's one of life's delicacies! Right after my sweets and rocks of course~"
"R-really?!" Feli exclaimed, once again with a child-like glare of wonder in her eyes.
"O-f-cooooourse~" Lemres chirped.
"*Yawn* ah well, looks like it's getting late huuuuh~? I should probably prepare your beds~"
"Wait. We have to…*gulp* sl-sleep here!?"
"You have?? Multiple beds???"
"Because if so that would actually be gre-"
"Oh wait, you're right!" Lemres interrupted "I only have the couch and my bed sorryyyy~"
"Oh no it's ok I'll just sleep outside like really far away from this sto-"
"What part of 'you will get sick if you stay outside' do you not understand"
"Ahaha~ w-well an-y-waaaays~ I'll just get my bed ready for you too and-"
"Ah wait no! I-It's your bedroom I should just sleep on the couch and-"
"No no I insist~ a-nd-be-siiiides~ you'd probably just end up getting scared and crawl right back upstairs~"
Feli's face began growing red out of embarrassment as the older man brotherly teased her.
"H-Hey I'm not like that! And b-besides stuff like that happened years ago I'm not a little kid anymore!"
"Little…kid…?" Amitie mumbled underneath her breath. "OH SO THAAAATS WHY YOUR FRIENDS WITH THE WEIRD JEWELER GUY!"
"W-well I suppose our history does play a huge role but…"
"W-weird jeweler guy…."
"Trust me I've heard plenty of commoners say worse"
"H-huh…? People have more mean nicknames for me…?"
"..."
"A-anyways You and Amitie can sleep upstairs I'll just sleep on the co-"
"NOPE NUH UH NO WAY I'M SLEEPING DOWN HERE WITH YOU"
" Dammit but that's the exact thing I'm trying to avoid!"
"G-guys please…I can sleep on the couch…"
"No! There's absolutely no way in hell that I'll allow that!"
In the end after much arguing, and much kicking and screaming, she went upstairs with Amitie.
"Dammit dammit dammiiiiit what am I gonna do! I can't just sleep in the same bed as a girl that'd be…a-and besides she probably has some sort of disease from dancing in the rain there's no way I can do this!"
"Ohhhhh…this is kinda awkward isn't it…"
"Amitie."
"Y-yes!"
"You can have the bed I'll sleep on the floor."
"W-WHAAAAAAT!?"
"Hmm? Is something wrong?"
"O-of course something's wrong! I can't just let the prettiest most richest and popularist girl sleep on the floor! That'd be awful!"
"None of the things you said are words."
"I don't care! I'm not letting you sleep on the floor no matter what!"
"Well too bad because no matter what you say my resolve shall not waver"
"E-EEEEEEEEHH!?"
But even so…
After much arguing…
Feli slept in the bed.
"Dammit dammit dammiiiiit I should've fought harder this is so uncomfortable! I mean I can barely move and I can barely sleep either with Amitie's incoherent bables!"
"...Tank you….tis one go's out….Feli…"
Feli's dreary eyes widened. Could it be that she had been dreaming about…her…?
She was quite used to it honestly…quite used to people dreaming about her, wishing and begging for her love all because of her fame but something about Amitie doing such had felt….strange.
Not a bad type of strange though.
If anything the feeling in her chest had carried some form of….comfort.
The same comfort she felt listening to her‐
"La..lala…lalaa…lalaa…."
Feli couldn't believe it. She was singing. Even though she was asleep, she had still been singing.
It had been so…foolish. Such a tune bringing so much joy…it was so foolish.
Why Feli had had whole orchestras play just for her yet none of them, not a single one had brought her so much joy.
It really was foolish.
Yet at the same time it was…pleasant.
The idea of having this girl sing just for her it had been so…pleasant.
And so slowly Feli had drifted off into a world of sleep. Dreaming of a wonderful world up in the clouds, with only Amitie and her. A lovely concert, just for her.
*Yawn*
"Ah Amitie…?"
Feli scratched her head as she looked around disoriented.
"Wait so was that a dream? But if so why am I at Mr. Lemres's-"
*SLAM*
"Wakey-wakey-Feeeeeeli~"
"Uwah!? M-Mr. Lemres!?"
"Ufufufu that's right~ I am Lemres~"
"Then where's-"
"Amitie~? Why she's down stairs eating breakfast of course~"
"Which reminds me~ you should come down quick~ wouldn't want yours getting cold now would we~"
And with that, Lemres left as quickly as he had entered.
Feli rubbed her eyes and steadily got ready, and walked down the stairs.
"Oh! Heya Feli!" Amitie exclaimed, her mouth full of pancakes.
Feli stared at the girl a bit. So it really wasn't a dream, she really was real.
"You should come sit down and eat! These are actually pretty good!"
"Fufufu of course they are~ I made them after all~"
Feli stared at her a bit more before gently smiling and making her way to the table.
"Wow those were really good…a bit too much syrup but the quality was quite exceptional as always"
"Tehe thanks Feli~ though you really can't have too much syrup in my eyes~"
"Yeah yeah I agree the more the better!"
"Fufufu…you two really are hopeless aren't you…" Feli chuckled. "Well anyways I should be going now, my parents are probably worried sick by now…"
"Oh shoot right! Well uh…bye bye Feli! Hope we see eachother again soon!"
"..."
"...Yeah….I suppose that would be nice…"
And with that Feli walked out and head home.
"Oh shoot that reminded me! I gotta lesson with Ms Accord today I should probably get going too-"
"Ah wait Amitie do you mind talking with me a bit~"
Amitie felt a shiver run up her spine as Lemres spoke to her.
"WAAAAAA WAIT PLEASE DON'T TURN ME INTO A ROCK FOR YOUR COLLECTION!! Oh wait no it was your that alchemist dude who make people into rocks BUT STILL WAAAAAA"
"E-eh?? calm down I'm not gonna do anything like that (and seriously who keeps spreading these rumors…)"
"W-w-well then what DO you want?"
"I just wanted to ask if you could do a favor for me"
Amitie perked up at Lemres's statement.
"Huh? A favor? What kinda favor?"
"I just wanted to ask you if you could take care of Feli from now on"
"Take care…? Of…Feli…?"
"Yeah, it's been a while since I've seen Feli truthfully smile around someone that wasn't me, so I was hoping you could be able to keep letting her smile like that"
Amitie stared at the tall man infront of her for a bit before answering.
"All righty then! I'll make sure to make Feli smile big and wide from now on!"
Clip.
Clop.
Clip.
The girl galloped steadily across the street.
The city had been pretty lively today, it had almost felt as if the atmosphere itself was dancing along to the girl's favorite tune.
Even as the eyes of others stared and gossiped about her, she simply did not care for she had a special place to be.
There by the bakery, that girl was singing her lovely tune once more and so Feli sat down, for yet another special concert, just for her.
