Only psychos love each other

Summary:

A bit of a rewrite of a few scenes, but with Drea and Eleanor being toxicly in love with each other and committing atrocities along the way.

Scenes rewritten: bedroom, Drea/Russ' first date, after Drea is rejected by Yale, Eleanor/Gabbi's first date, Eleanor's bday party, the hospital, the Admissions Party and finally, a new scene.

Notes:

The warnings are for safety, and here goes spoilers, but the death is Max's and I'm not sure it's a "graphic" depiction of violence, but better safe than sorry.

Also, I was tempted to make it Drea/Eleanor/Gabbi at the end but thought it might be too much to have Gabbi kill her own brother, despite her saying she was into Eleanor's crazy plan, so I left it open-ended, so lmk what you think.

Hope you enjoy this, because I'm absolutely obsessed with this movie ;)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Drea giggled.

“Yeah, the Glennergy really lept out.” Eleanor chuckled, and then became serious.

“Thank you.” Drea smiled softly at her, and she ran a finger along the blonde’s shin.

“It was my pleasure.”  Eleanor laid back down on the bed.

“Your house is, like, really cozy.”

“‘Cozy’ is just a nice way of saying ‘small’”.” Drea replied with a hint of repugnance on her voice.

“No, I- I  really didn’t mean it like that.” The taller girl rushed to explain herself, and Drea quickly closed her eyes and shook her head.

“No, I know. I’m sorry. I know you didn’t.You’re one of the good ones, Eleanor Levatan.” The girl gulped with guilt. Maybe she shouldn’t go through with her plan, maybe Drea Torres was one of the good ones too, maybe they could be friends, good friends. “I just used to be so afraid of Tara and them finding out this is where I lived.” The brunette shook her head, “Isn’t that twisted? They were my best friends.”

“Yeah, but your instincts were right.” Eleanor actually, sorta, hated hearing about all that Drea went through, despite, you know, coming up with the most unhinged revenge plan ever against that same girl. Drea shrugged.

“I guess.” She propped herself up on her elbows. “Speaking of, I’m ready to see those texts.”

“You sure?” Drea nodded, and Eleanor whispered to Oscar Winner Olivia Colman, “Okay. Let’s go.” Putting her pet aside and grabbing her laptop, she felt Drea shuffling closer. The girl sat behind her, letting her rest her head on her lap, and began playing with strands of golden hair.

As Eleanor pulled the texts up, Drea felt her stomach sink and twist, making her feel sick.

“Oh my god, he’s cheating with half the girls at Rosehill.” Drea stopped playing with Eleanor’s hair. “There are messages here from a girl in every clique. Goes back years.” A heavy tear fell on the taller girl’s forehead, and she immediately got up and hugged the crying brunette. “I’m so sorry, Dre.” She caressed her face, and Drea rubbed it on Eleanor like a cat. “It’s a douche question, but are you okay?” Drea chuckled.

“Yeah. Yeah, no, I mean,” Drea went back to her original position on the bed, “Max is a lying garbage rat, so no surprise he was a cheater too.” She wiped her tears and fidgeted with the covers, not meeting Eleanor’s eyes. The blonde took a deep breath.

“If we expose those texts, everyone will know he did this to you.” She felt her heart being squeezed.

“Good. He’ll look even worse. We should do it on Valentine’s Day. Really go for the drama.” Eleanor changed positions so she was laying beside her friend. She caressed her face once more and Drea closed her eyes, pain evident on her face.

“You know you don’t have to be brave with me.” Drea looked up at her with doe-like eyes. “This sucks. It’s allowed to suck.” Drea seemed to shed more of her armor.

“Yeah. Fine,” she scoffed lightly, “it sucks.” Drea looked up to meet Eleanor’s eyes, and sniffled hard. “It really sucks.” She pulled the covers up to her neck as the tears rolled down her angelic face. Eleanor’s heart broke in a thousand pieces, and all she wished was to put them back together. “Do you think I’ll feel better?”

“What do you mean?”

“I’m just so angry all the time.” She turned to have a better look at her friend, her home for the past months. “There’s this knot in my chest, and the Max stuff made it worse, but it’s always been there.” Eleanor watched her closely, fascinated but heartbroken. “And every day I feel it getting tighter and stronger.” The blonde’s lip trembled, threatening to open the watergates as well. “And I feel like it’s choking me.” She wanted more than anything in the world to lean down and kiss Drea, to hold her and tell her she didn’t need to feel this way anymore, that Eleanor was gonna take care of her. “Sometimes it just hurts to exist, you know?” Drea needed to be held, to have someone promise her everything was gonna be okay, and she wished more than anything that it was Eleanor who did that. Eleanor shared her pain, and that broke the blonde. “I just wanna feel normal again.” Eleanor chuckled sadly, that was her biggest wish in the whole wide universe, to be normal again.

“Yeah. I know exactly what you mean.” Then Drea looked at her with those wide, sad puppy eyes and Eleanor knew that she was fucked, royaly screwed. She was in love with Drea Torres and she couldn’t - wouldn’t - fight it. “Come here.” She opened her arms and Drea shuffled closer and snuggled against Eleanor’s body.

The blonde ran her fingers through raven silk hair and Drea rubbed her face on the other girl again.

“I like you, Eleanor.” The taller girl smiled sadly at that. “You’re just like me.” The sentence contained so much, they were alike in many, many aspects. Fucked up was the first, written in capital letters. Then lost, confused, heartbroken. Manipulative, cunning, twisted and vengeful. But mostly, broken. Completely and utterly broken.

“Yeah, I am.” Drea hugged Eleanor’s waist and started to make circles with her finger on the exposed flesh.

She swung a leg over one of Eleanor’s and snuggled against her body once more. And finally, she pressed a kiss to the blonde’s neck, making her draw in a sharp breath. Drea seemed to be ready to take a nap, but Eleanor’s mind was on fire. Her thoughts ran wild, trying to contain her feelings that were trying to claw out of her lungs in desperation. After a while of listening to Drea’s light snores, a single tear escaped Eleanor’s eye and she breathed in deeply to stop herself  from crying further.

Russ took them to a park. It was beautiful and they spent a few hours talking and appreciating the view. He was fun to hang around, and Drea wanted the boy as a friend. But nothing more than that. You see, he wasn’t Eleanor, and Drea only had eyes for Eleanor and her revenge. There was no space for anything else. But it’s not like she could have Eleanor, so she went along with this when he said he’d like to keep seeing her. A distraction was welcome, another ally was even better.

Yale was the only thing keeping me from going for his throat, but it was open season now. I had nothing holding me back, and I was prepared to burn it all to the ground.

Eleanor was smoking on the floor when Drea barged in, and she started talking as soon as she saw the other girl.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry. We can try again.” But Drea didn’t seem to register her.

“Yale rejected me.” Eleanor quickly got up and embraced the girl.

“I’m sorry, Dre.” She hugged her back, but not for long. Drea was far too restless to be held and feel sad.

“Don’t pity me, okay?” She spoke softly and Eleanor nodded. “Just help me- fuck!” She huffed. “Help me do revenge on him.” Eleanor nodded rapidly, a small smirk on her lips.

“Of course.” Drea was pacing in front of her, anger emanating from her figure.

“It’s not just Max, it’s all of them. Tara, Meghan, Montana, Elliot.” Eleanor sat back down and resumed her smoking. “Every single one of those trust-fund fucks who I used to be friends with, they just stood by while Max ruined my life! I’ve lost everything, Eleanor. Fucking everything!” The taller girl furrowed her brows.

“What are you saying? You wanna go after all of them?” The idea sounded rather ludicrous, but fun as hell. Drea turned around to face the girl, and her face lit up.

“Yes.” She chuckled. “Yes, that is exactly what I’m saying. They need to feel the consequences of what they did to me.” Eleanor watched her with curiosity. “Taking away my social status, that’s one thing. But taking away Yale? Oh, they have to pay. All of them.” Drea giggled maniacally and Eleanor stood up once more. “Fuuck.”

“So, uhm, what do you wanna do?” She had to admit, she was slightly scared of this Drea, but there was no turning back now, so onwards they went. Drea turned and walked towards Eleanor.

“Please tell me you got into at least one Ivy.” Eleanor frowned, confused.

“Y-yeah, Columbia and Brown. Why?” Drea smiled.

“Perfect. Every year there’s an epic party, it’s called the Admissions Party. No social media, no phones. It’s a Rosehill senior tradition. And the only way in is your Ivy acceptance letter.” Drea grabbed both of Eleanor’s arms before continuing. “You’re going to expose each one of those duplicitous assholes,” Drea moved her hands to hold the other girl’s neck and flicked her eyes to her lips, “and  destroy their futures.” She giggled and bounced excitedly, and Eleanor could feel herself growing anxious at their proximity.

“What about Max?” Drea took a deep breath and stared at Eleanor’s lips for a couple of long seconds before looking at her eyes intently.

“We’re gonna kill him.” Thunder rumbled in the distance and Eleanor’s upper lip twitched.

“You’re not serious?” Drea licked her lower lip and clicked her tongue before smirking.

“Of course I’m fucking serious.” The giggle echoed through the house and Eleanor breathed hard, Drea was too fucking close and too fucking unhinged and she was getting drunk on the madness. Then, Drea did the most crazed thing she could do at that moment: she licked Eleanor’s lips in the sexiest way possible, giggling again before letting go of the girl.

Eleanor stumbled back and struggled to get air flowing on her lungs again. She panted lightly, trying to wrap her head around what had just happened.

“Max is gonna pay.” Drea was smiling devilishly and Eleanor was still trying to recompose herself. “We’re gonna get him to admit once and for all that he leaked that video. Something he can’t spin his way out of.” The taller girl smirked at that. "And then we're gonna show  everybody who he really is, and when he's humiliated and spiraling, that's when we do it. We'll frame it as suicide, simple." Eleanor chuckled nervously.

"I don't know  how to copy his handwriting." Drea raises an eyebrow.

"We got two weeks to practice, don't worry." Then, Drea got close again, putting an arm in each of Eleanor’s sides, pinning her against the wall, once more being incredibly close to the girl’s face. Eleanor looked down to Drea’s lips, and the other girl copied her. “What do you say, partner?” She took a step back and pulled Eleanor closer. “Hm? Ready to take them down?” The taller one bit her lip.

“For you? Always.”

When she realized it, Gabbi and her were kissing. Don’t get her wrong, Eleanor really liked Gabbi, liked being around her and talking to her. But you see, Drea took up 100% of her life, and Eleanor took up 100% of Drea’s life, as the non-stop texting proved. Gabbi’s reassurance and honest talk was refreshing, was the life-line she needed. But it was just a distraction, momentary love and validation she needed to not lose her mind entirely with the frustration she was feeling. Because she was obsessed with Drea, as Drea was obsessed with her. All her thoughts ended up in Drea. Drea, Drea, Drea. A moment of diversion wouldn’t change that. Maybe when she was done with Drea she could go back to Gabbi.

“Nice entrance.” Eleanor remarked as they walked outside. Drea did look good, she couldn’t deny it.

“Yeah? Nice jacket.” Drea fired back. Eleanor also looked incredible.

“It was a gift.” Drea shook her head at that.

“I can’t believe you. What do you think you’re doing? You don’t answer my texts,-”

“What do you think you’re doing? I don’t have to be with you 24/7, I’m entitled to a break.” She really loved being around Drea, but lately it was taking a toll on her. “But then you come to my house? Are you okay?” This pisses Drea off really badly.

“Are you ? I’m your best friend. Hell, only friend, actually. Those people do not care about you. I care about you. They ’re not your friends!” She couldn’t fathom Eleanor wanting to be with them instead of her, and the entire time Drea was gesticulating around them to emphasize her point, while Eleanor only stood back watching.

The blonde actually snorted at that.

“Oh, is that what you’re worried about? You’re jealous I’m with your old friends?” It wouldn’t be bad, really, if this was the case. Well, it wouldn’t be if Drea acted like she wanted to spend time with Eleanor, if she showed that she cared, instead of only announcing it. But it wasn’t the case, so fuck Drea Torres. “Did you even remember that it was my birthday?” Her voice cracked and tears were building up on her eyes, and her confirmation came when Drea visibly shrunk back and her shoulders slumped. She would go to the ends of the earth - and really, wasn’t she already doing that? - for Drea, but she needed at least a little bit of reciprocity.

“No, okay? I didn’t. Well, I did a while back and then I forgot about it. But fuck, why would that be a priority?!” Drea’s anger bubbled back up and Eleanor had had enough.

“Because I told you yesterday, told you I wanted to spend time together. Because we spent an entire year together. Because you say you care about me.” Eleanor felt utterly humiliated at that moment, how could she say she cared about her and then downplay her feelings? She was so close to crying, but Drea just huffed.

“Oh my god, you’re pathetic! Can’t you see what he’s doing?” Eleanor clenched her jaw. “None of this is real. This party? He’s controlling you, dude.” Drea looked intensely at Eleanor’s eyes, begging her to see the truth. “Every person in there will drop you the minute you do not serve them anymore.” Eleanor snorted internally.

“Are you any different?” Drea widened her eyes. “At least with Max I got a birthday party out of it.” The smaller girl furrowed her brows and panicked for a second.

“Wait, wait, wait. You don’t like him, do you?” This had to be a nightmare, her best friend was slipping through her fingers and right into Max’s palm. “Because he leaked that video, Eleanor.” It was the ultimate betrayal. The thing that completely obliterated Drea’s life, and here was Eleanor, the one person she thought she could trust, stabbing her in the back, just like all her other friends did. “He leaked that video!” And there it was, the golden opportunity to twist the knife.

“Are you sure?” The blonde fired. “There’s never been any evidence.” As much as it pained her to utter those words, to destroy Drea like that, it had to be done.

Drea was speechless. How, how did things go to shit so quickly? And how did Eleanor have the guts to say something like that? Drea’s armor slipped for a moment as her voice softened.

“Take that back.” Eleanor contorted her face, pain and power mixing in her body. She liked having power over Drea, and she would be lying if she said she meant it only about the social status side of it.

“No.” She took a step forward, invading Drea’s personal space, which gave the smaller girl her courage back, making her stare deeply into the taller girl’s eyes.

“I mean this from the bottom of my heart.” She breathed deeply and then spit out venomously. “Fuck you, Eleanor.” Her eyes dipped down, staring at Eleanor’s lips. Fuck, was she aroused? What the hell, Drea, here is your life going up in flames once more and you’re aroused at the fire that’s consuming everything?!

Eleanor smiled wickedly at that.

"Why don't you do it yourself, coward?" The brunette breathed in sharply, clearly taken by surprise. "'Cause that's what you are, isn't it? A coward." Drea took a step back. "You were a coward when we were 13 and you're a coward now." The smaller girl scowled at her.

"What the fuck are you on about?" The blonde smirked.

"You're gonna figure out soon enough." Drea growled.

"I am not a coward." Eleanor raised an eyebrow and Drea stared at her lips.

"Really?" The brunette gulped. "'Cause you're all over me at one moment, and then you blame it on this madness we're in, and you run to Russ' arms to pretend you don't feel anything, but soon enough you're back." Drea scoffed, but Eleanor wasn't wrong. She had been desperate to get rid of these feelings for the girl. "You can't stay away from me, and you're dying inside, because I used to not be able to stay away from you , but now you made that easy for me." Drea took a step closer and snarled.

"I am warning you, Eleanor, stand down. If you go down this path, I will obliterate you." Eleanor smirked.

"You're not the boss of me anymore, Drea. I'm done doing your dirty work." The brunette huffed like an angry dragon and stared menacingly into ice-blue eyes.

"Then get out of my fucking way." Eleanor had to use all of her strength to not look down at Drea's lips.

"No."

"Then you're going up in flames with the rest of them."

“Max and them, they were never just gonna let you back into their group. I needed to give them a reason to.” Eleanor argued at the hospital. “And you know, there’s nothing vapid people love more than making other people’s tragedies about them.” She chuckled as she leaned down on Drea’s hospital bed.

The brunette stared at ice-blue eyes intensely. She despised Eleanor at that moment, but at the same time she felt exhilarated, Eleanor was so completely insane that it actually made her - Revenge Mommy - proud. She had to give it to her, it was genius work. She just hated it being used against her. She closed her eyes and a tear escaped, prompting the blonde to come closer and caress her face.

“Oh, don’t cry.” She spoke softly. “It’s all right.” She brushed a strand of raven hair out of Drea’s face. “I wish it could have been different. Truly. Maybe in another timeline you supported me instead of rejecting and exposing me, and maybe we could’ve taken the world together. It’s a shame really. But it is what it is.” She leaned down and pressed a kiss to Drea’s cheek and one to her forehead before leaving.

At home, she stared at herself in the mirror. She tried to wipe her makeup, trying to get rid of the person she saw reflected there, begging to see who she is, who she used to be, instead of who she’d become. The memories of her good times with Drea flooded her mind, almost drowning her.

I did it. Soon, Drea would be annihilated. What should’ve felt exhilarating just felt rotten. I-I-I was so lost, I barely recognized myself. I mean, look at me. I did a costume change after I hit Drea with my car, but it was just too late now.  The only way out, was through.

Every touch, every smile, every conversation went through Eleanor’s mind, staining her, branding her like scalding iron on skin. Every look, every feeling, undeletable, shaping who she was, what she did and thought. Drea was everywhere, consuming who she was.

Shut up. A chuckle at her own insanity.

Drea, at the hospital, stared blankly at the wall. It was absolutely deranged that she craved Eleanor, that she wished she was the one comforting her there, as if she wasn’t the one who screwed her up in the first place. Her phone chimed with incoming texts, and her heart sped up, hoping it would be the blonde. She didn’t care if it was more threats or more taunting, but disappointment washed over when she saw it was her old friends. Fuck them. Eleanor was the only one who understood Drea on a cellular level, and the brunette just fucking missed her.

“Fuck you, Eleanor.” She cursed at the wind.

***

Going to the Admissions Party with Eleanor was deranged, first of all, but mainly exhilarating. Worse than losing the game was not playing the game. She could feel the danger emanating for the girl’s skin, and it intoxicated her. She wanted to get drunk on Eleanor.

It was genius, like the rest of the plan, to put a camera on a brooch. Once more Eleanor had rendered her baffled.

“Don’t forget, Nora.” She knew the girl hated to be called that, so it felt good to see the look on her face. “I created you, and I can just as easily destroy you.”

At the dance floor, Drea almost forgot the dark force that was Eleanor looming over her. But the girl was soon reminded, as the blonde stood quietly a few meters away from her, watching her.

Eleanor bit her lip, she wanted to consume Drea, devour her, pin her to the wall and choke her. She was by far the finest meal at the party.

And Drea’s mouth went dry at the sight of Eleanor watching her. She wanted to put on a show, to go toe to toe with the taller woman. So she danced. She put her arms up and snaked them down her body. Eleanor’s eyes followed hungrily and Drea didn’t stop staring at her.

After a minute, Eleanor tossed her drink aside and walked up to the girl, and Drea smirked at herself. Jackpot. The blonde approached her and they locked eyes, the brunette didn’t stop exhibiting herself for a single moment.

Eleanor scoffed playfully, relenting, playing along with Drea’s games. She put her hands on Drea’s body and caressed it to the beat of the music. They quietly moved somewhere further from their friends, closer to the wall. Drea was grinding her back against Eleanor’s body, who in return massaged her neck with one hand and her stomach with the other.

Then, Drea spun around and pinned both of Eleanor’s hands on top of her head, on the wall. The blonde hated that, so she growled and switched their positions, now Drea had her hands locked. And the girl honest to god laughed. Laughed at the lioness in front of her because she had done exactly what she desired. She wanted the beast out of the cage.

Eleanor flushed their bodies together and suddenly bit down hard on Drea’s neck, getting a hiss out of the smaller girl.

“You’re mine.” Eleanor growled before letting go of the brunette and leaving the dance floor.

When they had all winded down and were taking a break, Elliot took out a small packet.

“Does anybody want to do some K?” Montana and Tara extended their hands.

“Oh yes.”

“Gimme.”

“Please, gimme, gimme.”

“Drea?” They looked at the girl.

“I’m good.” Meghan pressed on.

“C’mon, have some.”

“No, I’m good.” Then Eleanor spoke up.

“C’mon, Dre.” Drea’s breath got stuck on her throat. “Do some K, don’t be a narc.” The blonde was smirking and Drea matched her expression. She was about to turn the tides on the girl.

“You guys, can we all just look at Eleanor right now? You are so pretty!” The taller woman furrowed her brows slightly, she couldn’t see what angle Drea was playing at. “Isn’t Eleanor so pretty?”

“Yess.”

“So pretty.”

“I love Eleanor.”

“You’re so pretty.”

She eyed the brunette with distrust. Then, Max appeared and put his arm around her shoulders, sending shivers down her spine.

“So do I.”  Drea hated the sight, so she continued.

“Eleanor, you’re so bad. You’re gonna hook up with both Broussards?” Eleanor whipped her head around, face falling. All her alarm bells went off in her head. So this is what she wanted to get to. “I thought you were into Gabbi.” Drea finished innocently, and the blonde was sending death glares at her. Everyone gasped and laughed.

“Do you like my sister?” Max asked.

“No, I-” her first instinct was to deny, but fuck that. Fuck all of them. “Yeah.” She shrugged and everyone cheered.

“Classic Eleanor, so full of surprises.” Max got off Eleanor, but she didn’t have time to be relieved, as Drea continued. “Did you guys know that Eleanor used to go by Nora, and she went to Big Beach Day Camp with Tara and I?!” Drea’s voice was full of venom, and Eleanor lost her composure. She felt dizzy, it was like she was reliving her trauma , but this time it wasn’t in her head. People were real and they were mocking her for real. “Do you remember?”

“What?” Tara asked, slightly confused.

“No? You don’t remember?!” Drea made a dramatic pause and looked at Eleanor. “Well, I guess she looked a little different.” Eleanor could no longer maintain eye contact with Drea. She would look up and immediately down. “Here.” Drea moved closer to her and put a hand over her mouth and nose. “How about now?” Eleanor was slumped on her seat, defeated. “Look familiar?” They all gasped.

“Oh my god!”

“We used to call her Nosy Nora…” More gasps.

“Oh my god! Yes, yes, yes! Nosy Nora!” A tear threatened to fall from her eye, but suddenly Montana grabbed her nose, startling her.

“Fuck! That’s Nosy Nora?!” Drea nodded.

“That’s Nosy Nora!”

Eleanor simply stood up and walked away, and suddenly it downed upon Drea what she had just done. For Eleanor not to fight back it meant she went too far, crossed a line she shouldn’t have.

“Eleanor, come back!” Someone shouted through laughter.

“Nosy fucking Nora.”

“No way!”

“Oh man, Nosy fucking Nora.”

“I got a boob job, it’s fine baby, it’s all good!”

Drea ran after her girl, and found her crying by the fire pit.

“Eleanor. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. It was off our limits.” Eleanor sniffled and yelled with her voice heavy with tears.

“What limits, Drea?! I hit you with my fucking car. There are no limits!” She pointed to herself. I lost, okay? And I should be able to handle it.” Drea shook her head.

“I really thought I was different than them. Every time I did something mean I told myself ‘this isn’t me, it’s just who I have to be to survive’.” Eleanor let out a helpless sob. “But that was a fucking lie. It was just a story I told myself to make myself feel better about the fact that I was just a toxic bitch.” The blonde crossed her arms and sobbed again. “Does any of this make you feel better? Because I’m fucking miserable!”

“No, of course I don’t feel better. I feel like shit!” Eleanor yelled, angry.

“So do I!” Drea shot back. “Fuck.” She took the brooch off her dress and Eleanor felt the last of her control slipping away.

“What are you doing?” She was panicking. “No, no! Stop it, Drea.” The brunette threw the item on the ground. “Drea, don’t!” Then forcefully stepped on it, breaking it.

“None of this is gonna make us feel better, okay?” Drea looked at an emotionally disheveled Eleanor. “Look, we can’t erase what we did to each other, but I don’t wanna hurt you anymore, and I don’t think you wanna hurt me either.” They stared at each other. “The only times I ever felt happy this year,” Drea took a few breaths, and her voice softened, “were when I was with you.”

Eleanor was incredulous watching the scene. She was so tired, and all she wanted was Drea, and here she was, calling for a cease-fire after basically winning their war. Drea started to laugh.

“You might be the only real friend I’ve ever had.” She was about to start crying now. “And I know this probably means nothing now, but if I could go back in time to when we were kids, I would tell you ‘you’re the coolest person I’ve ever met’.” Eleanor shook her head, still not truly believing what was happening. “Because you are!” Drea sobbed. “And I will regret what I did to you forever, because I love you.” Eleanor’s eyes were filled with tears, and she didn't dare make eye contact. Drea started walking towards the blonde. “So I’m sorry, Eleanor,” she cupped the taller girl’s cheeks with her hands, and Eleanor looked up, running from the brown orbs in front of her, “for everything.”

As the blonde finally locked eyes with the brunette and they leaned in, they heard slow clapping coming from the bushes, and then Max.

“Whoo, wow! What a heart-warming display of female friendship. I’m kvelling.”

“Did you just enter doing a slow clap, you cliché piece of shit?” Drea snarled.

“Oh, I’m a piece of shit?” He had a shit-eating grin that pissed the two girls off. “Oh, okay. I think you should look in the mirror, Dre.” He took out Eleanor’s phone from his pocket. “‘Cause you ladies have been very, very busy this year, haven’t you?” He tossed the phone on the ground and Eleanor furrowed her brows.

“How did you get that?” Max scoffed.

“You put your phone in a locked bag at my party, you didn’t think I was gonna look through it?” Drea shook her head.

“You really are the devil.”

“Mean. It’s upsetting that my entrepreneurial spirit has to be reduced to such petty name-calling.” He took a few steps around the fire, and the girls didn’t take their eyes off of him. “But back to you two. The texts. They’re a great read, that was compelling shit.” If looks could kill, Max would’ve been dead a long time ago. “So, you two meet, and Drea hatches this plan, but then you come to find out that Eleanor’s been playing you the entire time? Like,” he chuckles in amusement, “I did not see that coming, at all. Also, I gotta s-” he opens his arms in confusion, “Eleanor, I thought we had a whole will-they-won’t-they thing going on.” The blonde glares at him. “Now I find out you’re pretending? Sad.”

“Where are you going with this, Max?” Drea inquiries. “What’s your plan?”

“Well, I put you through enough. I was just gonna let it all go.”

[...]

“Okay. I’m gonna go back to my party now and do fucking coke off a girl’s butthole, or her belly or something.” Eleanor smirked menacingly at Max, who wasn’t paying attention to her. “I don’t know. Alright. Well, bye, Dre. I really will miss you.” At that, a tear escaped her eye.

Then, as Max walked away, Eleanor burst out laughing, pissing Drea off.

“Why the fuck are you laughing?” Eleanor licked her lips and opened her jacket.

“It’s called double assurance, sweetie. Look it up.” Drea’s mouth hung open. “We got him.” Eleanor was beaming, and Drea came closer.

“Goddamn, do I love you right now!” She laughed and cupped Eleanor’s face with her hands.

“Only right now?” The blonde mocked and bit her lip, making Drea look down at it. When she looked back at Eleanor’s eyes, they were darker than ever. Drea took a deep breath and closed the space between them. She quickly pressed her tongue against Eleanor’s lips, demanding entrance. They made out for what felt like hours, but ultimately they had a job to do.

“Does this mean we’re okay?” Eleanor asked and the reply came in the form of a hickey on her neck.

“We are. And you’re mine, too.” The blonde chuckled and ran a finger on top of the bite mark she had left on the girl earlier that night.

“Drea, I’m so sorry.”

“No, it’s okay. I think we might be fucked-up soulmates.” Eleanor licked her lips again.

“I think I like that.”

“Yeah.” A minute went by before Drea continued. “I know I said taking him down wouldn’t make us feel better, but our plan can still work.” Eleanor raised an eyebrow.

“Oh, let’s do revenge.”

“Let’s do revenge.” They laughed and pulled each other close again, kissing passionately.

The video had the reaction they expected, and everyone turned against Max. Elliot told him to leave, and after noticing no one would come to his rescue as he cried outside, he did so. As he entered his enormous bedroom and turned the lights on, there was Drea, sitting on Eleanor’s lap, who was sitting on a big armchair.

“Hello, Max.” Drea greeted him sweetly.

“What the fuck is this?” He frantically looked around. “How  did you get in here?” It was Eleanor’s time to speak.

“Perks of hooking up with the other Broussard sibling that lives here.” She held up a bunch of keys. He was still looking around and rubbing his face, definitely trying to sober up enough to get the upper hand on them.

“What do you want?”

They got up and started circling the room, making Max stop right in front of his open window.

“You see, you might have been destroyed at Rosehill, and nothing on the internet ever truly goes away, but you are a cis-straight rich white boy with influential parents.” He chuckled at that.

“You’ll never get me.” Drea smirked.

“Exactly. And I recently discovered that it’s extremely easy to get away with a bunch of crimes without so much as a glance your way.” Eleanor giggled at that and Max eyed them. “So the only way to be rid of you, is to do it for good.” As his brows furrowed in confusion, Eleanor managed to get close enough to wrap a piece of cloth around his neck. Then, Drea used all her strength to push his body out the window. They heard a snap and his body went motionless as it hung outside, being held by a string of ropes attached to his ceiling fan.

When she turned around, Eleanor was sitting at his desk, scribbling something. As she came closer, she realized it was a suicide note.

“I practiced, like you told me to.”

Drea hummed and played with the girl’s hair. In the letter, Eleanor, or better, Max, explained the crash from most popular to most hated was too much, and the hate comments he was already receiving wouldn’t leave him alone. That, along with the likeliness that he was gonna lose his spot at Yale drove him to the edge.

Eleanor was admiring her work.

“I hope I don’t traumatize Gabbi too much.” Drea spun her around and straddled her on the chair.

“Well, trauma is the entrance door for insanity. I know you liked her, I can learn to share.” They chuckled and kissed one last time before leaving the house.

They had no idea what they were going to do after all of this, but it definitely wasn’t anything remotely rational or prudent. Chaos was sure to be installed wherever the two girls went.
