Chapter Text
You wake up, get ready for school, and, just as you're about to leave, you look at yourself in the mirror. You look yourself up and down. You're wearing your skin tight jeans, a black Metallica t-shirt, combat boots, and makeup...a rare occasion. Why wear makeup everyday? It's not like anyone ever notices you, no matter how pretty you make yourself. You tend to blend into the crowd at school. You weren't popular but you weren't necessarily unpopular. You had your hands in several cliques at school. You were on the dance team so you had cheerleader friends, you hung out in the graphics class with all the freaks and metalheads, and you also had your ride-or-die childhood friends that didn't seem to fit in anywhere either. Regardless of your friend count, you still felt lonely. You were never the center of attention, you were never the girl the guys wanted to be with (at least not in public). You take a deep breath and let out a sigh before you head out to school.
As you roam the hallways, waiting for school to start, you glance up to see the guy that makes your heart race and butterflies swarm your belly....Eddie Munson. Usually when you pass by him, you try not to make it noticeable that you're looking and you're pretty successful at it...nobody seems to see you regardless. But today, your heart dropped to your gut as you made eye contact. You couldn't pull your eyes away so you give a little smile as you pass by. You see his eyes move down to your shirt, which made the fluttering in your belly intensify and you quicken your pace. You wonder what was going through his mind. You knew you both like the same music. Was he admiring your shirt? You hope that you impressed him! It's not like he was a total stranger. He hung out in the same graphics class as you with the same group of friends but you've barely spoken to him. You're probably not on his radar.
At lunch, you're sitting and laughing with your friends. The cafeteria is always swarming with people so you're always just a little distracted. You're especially paranoid today because of the morning's interaction with Eddie. He usually sits with his Hellfire Club friends but he was nowhere to be found. Your guard is let down and you get up to leave the cafeteria to go outside for some fresh air. As you're walking around the courtyard, you hear a familiar voice trying to get your attention. It was Eddie. Your heart drops even harder this time as he starts walking toward you.
"Hey...I like your shirt!" he says with a big smile on his face, which made you blush.
"Thanks. You like Metallica?" you ask.
"Hell yeah! But you knew that.." he said with a wink.
"Well yeah but I...didn't know you if you knew who I was" you said nervously.
"Um...we are in the same graphics class, we hang out. Kind of." he said with a smirk.
You blushed and looked away, slightly embarrassed.
"You should come see my band play this weekend at the Hideout. I've seen you there, actually." he said.
"Wait...you've seen me there?"
"Of course. You are always with a couple friends, hiding in the back. Yet...I've never seen you in the crowd for my band.."
He was right, you hadn't been to any of his shows because they only played Tuesday nights, which is a school night and your parents would never let you go. "Sorry, I'll come this weekend and make it up to you." You couldn't believe you said such a bold statement.
"You'd better," he grinned. "We can hang out during breaks, if you want."
"Sounds good," you said fighting the numbness in your legs at the thought of spending one-on-one time with Eddie Munson.
It was the day of Eddie's show and you've roped your best friend into going with you. She was the only one who knew your feelings about him and she was ready to be your wingman tonight. All week, you thought about what you were going to wear, what perfume you would spray on, how you wanted your hair and makeup....you had to look perfect. You tend to be incredibly critical of your body so you try to highlight the best parts of it...which really wasn't much. You threw on your tightest pair of black jeans, your favorite Metallica shirt, some high-heel studded boots (they made your ass look bangin!), some chains and rings, and, your favorite piece, your black leather biker jacket. Your friend complimented your makeup, another rare moment as your friend doesn't hand out compliments too often, so you knew you looked just as you wanted. The belly-butterflies gradually intensified as you left your house and headed to the venue.
You walk into the Hideout, hands shaking, looking around to find Eddie. No luck. After a few minutes, you hear Corroded Coffin begin their set. Your knees started to shake as you find a spot in the audience and find Eddie on stage. The band gets about half-way into their set and Eddie had not seen you in the crowd yet. You weren't sure if you wanted him to or not. You closed your eyes for a few seconds, dancing to the music. When you opened your eyes, you make eye contact with him and he flashes you a smile. It looks like he was happy to finally see you. Your face is hot and the butterflies in your belly felt like they were on crack! You tell yourself to just play it cool, making yourself even more paranoid and self-conscious.
After the band stops playing, you head outside alone. Your friend was back in the venue talking to a girl she just met. You wanted to give them space and to, hopefully, find Eddie outside. As you look around, you feel hot breath on the side of your neck whisper "Hey..." You flip around to find Eddie!
"Oh ha! You scared me. You guys sounded amazing, by the way" you giggled.
"Thanks. It felt pretty good tonight." He said with a smirk. He scanned your body with his eyes, which made you more nervous. "Let's go find a place to sit."
You find yourselves on a couch in the corner of the room, sitting both comfortably & uncomfortably close. You wanted to climb on top and straddle him but you were also scared out of your mind to have him so close. After discussing how his band played and talking about things you have in common, he puts his hand on your knee. Your heart starts to race....
He looks down at his hand and says "I'm really happy you came tonight. I'm having some friends over tomorrow night, you wanna come?"
Your face is red and those damn belly butterflies.... "Sure. I'd love to" You say with a grin, staring at his beautiful, brown eyes.
"Great," he smiles back. "Sounds like the next band is starting, do you want to go watch?"
You agree and he helps you off of the couch. He grabs your hand, pulls you closer to the crowd, and stands behind you. You feel his hands grab ahold of you waist. You close your eyes and think how did I get this lucky?! A few moments later, his arms wrap around your waist and he nuzzles his chin in your neck.
You continue to enjoy the night together, listening to the bands play, and getting closer to each other. No words spoken, just enjoying the snuggles. As the venue is closing, he turns to face you and asks "I'll see you tomorrow night?" You nod with a smile and a blush. He gives your hand a squeeze before he runs off to pack up with his band. You find your friend and head home.
Laying in your bed that night, you go over everything that happened in your head...you can't stop smiling. You can't believe this isn't a dream.
