Nothing Was As It Was Told

Summary:

Things had gone terribly wrong. So many people had died. It was important that things be set right. Even if it could alter the course of history forever.

-------------------------------------------OR---------------------------------------------------------
Harry Potter ensemble go back in time to their parents' last year in Hogwarts, with the Harry Potter books.

I suck at writing summaries. Basically all the parents get to know what happens before it does and fluff ensues.

*DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER, THAT IS PURELY JK ROWLING'S.

Notes:

PLEASE READ.
I've changed A LOT about the story. I didn't like how Rowling had written it, but I loved the characters. Thus, I'm changing quite a bit. If that's off-putting, please click off. If not, let's begin!

Chapter 1: And So It Begins

Notes:

I know that I have a story going already, but I don't enjoy the direction it's going in, so I wanted to write something different. So I started this until I get a little better at writing.

Chapter Text

-The entire Hall was buzzing. Not to say that's unusual, meals were always loud but something was disconcerting to Remus. He pushed that thought away and tucked into the wonderful food laid out in front of him. His friends were chatting idly, just as focused on their food as he was.

He looked around the Hall. He noticed Snape and Lily talking as they walked into the Hall.

"Hey, Snivellus! Didn't your mother teach you how to wash your hair!" Some 6th year Gryffindor called and the entire Hall erupted into laughter.

Honestly! It had been 7 years since the James had kick-started the ragging. Lily looked about ready to pounce, but Snape put his hands on her shoulders and sat her down at the table, squeezed and walked to the Slytherin table.

Huh. He was much calmer about it than he was a few years ago.

Lily looked furious. So, Remus went to the standby. "Hey Lily, did you read Theories of Transubstantial Transfiguration? It just came out."

"Oh! Yeah, I finished it. His theory on how Animagi was absurd! However, he touched..."

He listened to Lily drone on, crisis averted. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw James openly staring at Lily. Poor lad was still madly in love with her.

Lily was cut off by a group of people just appearing out of thin air in the middle of the Great Hall!

A particularly tall red-head muttered, "This is the stupidest thing we've ever done."

A pretty lady replied, "We all agreed Ron, we need to set things right! No one was able to move on! The world was at a frigging standstill..."

Another dark-haired lad said, "And I don't think that this tops riding that dragon out of Gringotts."

A strikingly-blonde haired man said, "Harry! That's not a normal thing to say in front of people who have no idea who you are!"

"Terribly sorry to interrupt, but who are you?" Even Dumbledore seemed startled.

Everyone looked at the girl that had spoken and she exasperatedly said, "Why are you looking at me!"

"Well... You are the unofficial leader."

The girl sighed and said, "There's no easy way to say this, but we're from the future."

Everyone erupted into whispers and some even pointed their wands at her, ready to cast.

"Now! Before you make assumptions, let me explain. My name is Hermione Granger-"

"Brightest Witch of our Age." Two people-who looked like twins- chorused.

"Shut up. Anyway, a lot... happened back in our time and we need to set things right. Too many people lost those that were dear to them. It cannot happen. Thus, with the help of Professor McGonagall, the one from our time, we came to... enlighten you. It's quite ingenious really. We used a time turner, which most of you have probably already guesses, and Professor Flitwick helped us record our memories in these."

Seemingly out of nowhere, she pulled out a stack of books.

"Pretty self-explanatory after that, I suppose." She breathed and waited for the Headmaster to reach a decision.

Professor Dumbledore's eyes twinkled and he said, "So be it! However, the books seem to be rather long. How about we get comfortable?"

He waved his wand and couches, bean-bags, chairs for the crazy ones and even flat out mattresses for people to lie down on, comfortably.

"How about you go around introducing yourselves to the rest of the students." Professor McGonagall seemed startled by the view she was looking at.

"Oh okay. I'm Harry Potter-"

James sat up, his surname jogging him out of his quietness.

"Potter?"

"Yup! My parents are James Potter and Lily Potter-nee-Evans. I'm 25 years old." The boy-Harry- smirked at his parents. James had actually done it. The two had gotten together casually as Lily always put it around 6th Year, but apparently they ended up having a kid together!

"Oh my Merlin! This is gold!" Sirius crooned. Remus looked at him fondly.

"Moving on, I'm Ron Weasley, youngest son of Arthur and Molly Weasley. I'm 25."

"I'm his sister, Ginny Weasley. 24."

"We're the twins, Fred and George. 26." Chorused the two boys.

"And I'm the oldest, Bill. 30." He looked the oldest out of the entire group, not just his siblings. He also happened to look like he was straight out of a concert. Long hair, tattoos, earing, the works.

The girl with the brown hair, who'd been talking the most said, "I'm Hermione Granger, and you probably don't know my parents. I'm 25." Ah. She was a Muggleborn.

"I'm Draco Malfoy. I'm 25. My parents are Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy." He said the last few words quickly, as if slightly embarrassed.

"I'm Blaise Zabini, the Contessa's son. I'm 25 as well." A particularly well-dressed man spoke.

"I'm Theodore Nott, I'm the Notts' son."

"I'm Emma Snape-Black."

"WHAT?!" Sirius looked horrified.

"My parents are Severus Snape and Regulus Black. I'm 23." Snape and Regulus looked at each other simultaneously. Snape looked down at the table and looked vaguely like he was smiling. Remus didn't think that he had ever seen Severus Snape smile.

Regulus, on the other hand, looked like he was going through a myriad of emotions and he seemed to settle on happy in the end.

"You two had a kid!" Sirius exclaimed.

"Oh, kids plural." Emma snarked.

"Wait what?!" Sirius couldn't seem to wrap his head around what was going on. Remus held his hand under the table to try and calm him down.

"Oh, get over it Sirius! They've been together since our 6th year!" Lily said.

Snape rolled his eyes, exasperated.

"6th yea-!"

Remus cut him off, "Moving on."

"You all seem to have passed out of school, what're your jobs or are you pursuing more education?" Professor Flitwick, ever the educator.

"Well, most of are still-"

The Great Hall's doors were opened as a stream of people entered. The Weasleys with their kids. Bill looked very surprised at seeing himself 25 years younger and his baby brother Charlie. The Blacks and the Lestranges. Sirius and Regulus looked extremely uncomfortable. Mad-Eye Moody, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Frank Longbottom and his girlfriend Alice, Ted and Andromeda Tonks and Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy (recently married).

"Ah. They're here."

Mad-eye asked, "Could someone tell me what we're doing here?"

"Yes. All of got letters to be here as soon as we could.." Molly Weasley spoke.

The youngest Malfoy spoke, "That would be our doing."

Professor Slughorn filled them in on the situation and all of them looked just as startled as they processed.

The parents all smiled when they found out they had kids or were close to people who had kids.

Well, except for the Blacks. They were not pleased that they had a grandkid whose parents were the one son that they were actually proud of and someone of less than reputable nature.

However, Flitwick continues his line of questioning.

"Like I said most of us are still studying, but I work as a curse-breaker for the Ministry." Molly gasped. Why did her son need such a dangerous job?

"I'm a Healer-in-training." Ron answered. Arthur seemed very proud of that.

"I am too." said Nott. The Notts were notoriously known for being good at healing.

Draco was surprising. "I'm a mind-healer."

"Already?" asked Narcissa.

"Yeah. My education for healing was sped up because... well, I had good grades."

Lucius puffed out his chest.

Hermione shocked everyone in the Hall with her answer. "I actually teach here."

"Really? As what?" Professor Dumbledore asked.

"I'm Head of Gryffindor and I teach Potions. I can't really tell you more, due to spoilers."

"I'm an Auror with Blaise." said Harry.

"While I believe all of this is very interesting, I think we should begin with the books. They're rather long." Blaise was eager to get started.

Professor Dumbledore got the ball rolling. "I agree. Who would like to read?"

Sirius raised his hand. "I would."
