Chapter Text
‘86, baby. Eddie’s year. He wasn’t going to stop saying it because he fucking believed it. His third first day of senior year at Hawkins High, and this year was gonna be one for the history books. Speaking of which, fuck. He realised he maybe should have gotten some of the text books for his classes if he was going to get that diploma. Undeterred, he marched from his van up the school steps.
“How’s your summer, Freak?”
The taunt called out by some basketball player didn’t slow his step. He struck up his middle finger. Daring him to say it again, Eddie held eye contact with the guy who’d heckled him as he walked past. He held strong, at least until he was caught by the eyes of the girl by his side. She was clutching her books around her middle, standing stiff as a board. Jason’s arm had a death grip on hers.
Eddie held her gaze and winked. He sincerely hoped it was enough to get under that prick’s skin.
