Chapter Text
The sun was shining, the light breaking through the trees on the sidewalk you were walking on. Just a few weeks ago. You had walked this same path with the brothers, Diavolo, and Barbatos. You felt your heartache. You stopped walking, as you looked up at the trees and buildings surrounding you. The leaves on the trees rustled as a gentle breeze blew through and caressed your face. You closed your eyes as you took in a deep breath before exhaling. You had just begun to learn the summoning spell you needed to summon them. Except one thing was weighing the heaviest on your heart.
The golden-eyed demon you had come to develop feelings for was not an option for you to summon. He probably never would be. The way he had laughed unintentionally. Even though he said he was happy you asked. He denied your request. The same for Barbatos, who you were also fond of. You swallowed back the pain as you resumed walking through the city. After all, at least you could still see Simeon, Luke, and Solomon for now. Still, this heaviness wouldn’t leave your chest. No matter what you had to keep pushing forward. After all, they didn’t belong in your world. Not really. You knew their place was in the Devildom, just like your place was the human world.
You spotted Angel’s Halo in the distance. It had been a week since you last visited the two angels. You thought it was time to visit again. Plus, Simeon made the most delicious coffee you had ever tasted. You wondered if he added in a celestial ingredient or something. It was truly something. You had retired your D.D.D. for the time being. It was just too much for you to look at the device that held so many wonderful memories for you. You had a regular smartphone now; you had exchanged numbers with the angels and Solomon of course so they could keep in contact.
Especially Solomon since he was the one you were seeing the most right now. You smiled as a random thought crossed your mind. With how much you saw Solomon the others might as well believe you were a couple at this rate. Though you weren’t exclusive with any of them. Even though you knew they all loved you. Walking into Angel’s Halo, a bell rang upon entering. You took an inhale, breathing in the scent of freshly ground coffee. Your chest felt lighter upon the familiarity of two people you wished to see. As you glanced around you noticed the café was rather steady.
“(Y/n)!” Luke exclaimed capturing your attention. You grinned.
“Hey.” You replied with a closed-eyed smile.
“Here, come sit down. I’ll let Simeon know you are here.” He explained. You opened your eyes and nodded as you sat down at the table. Luke then went to go fetch Simeon from the kitchen. You pulled out your smartphone while you waited. No notifications except for the otome game you had downloaded on your phone. It didn’t help you feel any less alone. You felt the heaviness return. And then a chime. You blinked. It was Solomon.
Solomon: Don’t forget about your training later. We’ll meet at the same place as before.
You: Thanks, I didn’t forget.
Solomon: Even if you had I’d let it go…this time 😉
Solomon the witty sorcerer was also Solomon the mischievous. At least to you he was. You were about to reply when Simeon’s voice graced your ears. You flit your eyes to bright turquoise hues. Your heart fluttered.
“(Y/n), it’s so good to see you again.” He said as he placed a coffee down in front of you.
“Thank you.” You replied as you took a sip of the coffee. You hummed in delight at the taste and aroma. “You make the best coffee Simeon.”
He laughed. “Thanks, I’m glad you think so.”
“So what brings you by? It’s always a treat being able to see you.” You smiled as you set the coffee down, your hands wrapped around the cup.
“It’s been a week. I’m a bit troubled if I’m honest.” He raised a brow as he took a seat across from you. His turquoise hues seemed to be looking through you.
“Troubled?” He asked, concern laced in his voice. You nodded as you cast your eyes to the side looking down at the floor of the café. You gave a forlorn smile.
“Have you ever felt like, something is missing in your life, Simeon?” You questioned as you swallowed. Simeon raised his brows. From the look on your face, the sorrow held in your eyes. He could tell, you missed them. He couldn’t say for sure; he knew exactly how you were feeling. However, he did have an idea, because he often felt like his life wasn’t the same without seeing you.
“(Y/n), are you feeling lonely?”
Your eyes flit to his. Simeon always seemed to know exactly how you felt. Though you supposed that’s what happened in three years of having known someone. Still, it was almost hard to believe that much time had passed. You cast your eyes down to your coffee before taking a sip. You weren’t sure you wanted to admit you were lonely. Even though it was exactly how you were feeling. Every night before bed. You wished you could have one of them beside you to wake up to in the morning. You had been spoiled by their presence in your life. They had spoiled you without them even realizing it. Without you knowing what they had given you. Though who would have thought that demons would be the perfect companion for you, a human.
“Yes.” You spoke hushed. Simeon reached out and placed his hand over yours. Your eyes locked.
“If you’re lonely, you should have told me. I’d be more than happy to keep you company.” He explained, sincerity reflecting in his stare.
“Simeon, is that…even a possibility for you?”
A smile graced his lips. “(Y/n), I may be an angel. But that doesn’t mean that I’m restricted from having these feelings that I feel for you.”
You felt your cheeks burn. “Hey, Simeon, there’s an ord—” Luke cut off when he saw Simeon’s hand on yours. He gasped as pink splayed across his cheeks. “What are you two doing?”
Simeon laughed as his hand slipped from yours. He stood up. “So there’s an order. Well, (y/n) it was nice to see you again. You can always get a hold of me by text, call, or I’m here most days.” He explained.
You nodded. “It was nice to see you as well. Thank you again for the coffee. I’ll keep in touch.” You replied as you stood up. He smiled.
“You’re welcome, please do.” Before he waved. You waved back. Luke seemed to be suspicious of Simeon’s motives towards you. That they were anything but pure. He walked over to you as he observed you, watching Simeon walk away with a glint of sorrow in your eyes. Luke frowned. Maybe that’s why Simeon did what he did? Luke pondered. He didn’t like to see you upset.
“(Y/n), are you okay?” You glanced at Luke a bit surprised he was so close to you now. You blinked.
“Oh, yeah. I’m fine. Thank you. I guess I should go, you know Solomon has me training almost round the clock.” You explained as you picked up your coffee. Luke furrowed his brows.
“If you say so. If Solomon doesn’t stop working, you so had I’ll have some words with him.” He explained.
You laughed. He flushed; your smile was the best. He loved seeing you happy. After all, besides Simeon, you were the only other person he looked up to like a guardian figure. And he only wanted the best for you. Before he even realized it, his body had moved on its own as he wrapped his arms around your waist hugging you. You gave a soft smile as you patted his head before hugging him back. “Thanks, Luke.”
“I just want to see you smile more (y/n).”
“I’ll do my best.” You replied as you both pulled away. “See you later.”
He nodded. “See you!”
As you left the café, you couldn’t help but feel the weight in your heart return. You weren’t sure how long you could endure this.
Later that evening…
“Try one more time,” Solomon said giving you a stern gaze, his arms crossed over his chest.
You were beginning to feel this was impossible. How many times were you going to try this simple conjure spell? Once again you chanted the words Solomon had told you to speak. A small, illuminated diagram appeared on the ground in front of you. And right as the object was materializing, it all vanished.
“Tch..I can’t!” You exclaimed frustrated. Solomon’s eyes widened. You hung your head, your hair covering your face. You were on the verge of tears. You were so exhausted. Mentally, emotionally. You couldn’t do this anymore. “Solomon! I can’t!” You shouted a crack in your voice as you shook your head.
“(Y/n)…” He trailed as he knit his brows. You heard his footsteps shuffling through the grass before you felt two fingers hook your chin. Your eyes forced to meet his hazel ones. “(Y/n), you are more than capable of doing this. However –” He paused as he exhaled. “Perhaps it’s best if we break for a few days. You aren’t focused enough for this. Or maybe it’s the opposite. You are overly concentrating on the objects which are causing you to fail.” He explained. You turned your face away from him, as he released his grasp on your chin. He could tell you were almost to the point of crying.
“It’s weighing on you that much?” He questioned. A lone tear escaped your left eye. Solomon frowned as a hummed. “I can relate in a way. It is much quieter without the troublesome brothers. You had become quite used to it didn’t you?”
You remained silent, anything he said wasn’t helping your situation. “Can you summon Asmo or Barbatos for me?" You asked after a moment.
He furrowed his brows. “No, I’m afraid it doesn’t work that way for me. I only call on Asmo when I need him. As for Barbatos, only extreme situations. After all, Barbatos is a very busy man.” You bit the inside of your cheek as you turned your back to him. You felt his hand on your shoulder and you flinched. “(Y/n), I hate to see you like this. Have you ever thought that this is just as hard on them as it is for you?”
You felt the sting in your eyes from holding back your tears. “Solomon…please just don’t leave me.” You spoke hushed as you flung yourself onto him, wrapping your arms around him. He was taken back by your sudden attack. He blushed, as he glanced down at your shaking form. He wrapped his arms around you and held you tight.
“Don’t cry…” He whispered.
A few days after your breakdown. Solomon decided you needed time to recover so he was giving you some time before you began practicing once more. He had given you a list of things you needed to study and get a grasp on before you would be able to master summoning. Though it wasn’t just for summoning, but also for you to be able to handle other types of magic in the future. You were sitting at your table in your apartment. Your hair is loosely up and reading a book about the history of the three realms. As you were reading you took occasional sips from the coffee you made. It was a rather boring read, but you knew it was important to succeeding.
More than anything you wished to succeed so you could see your demons once again. You respired as you sat the book down on your table. You glanced outside; to see the various skyscrapers and cars driving down below. You took another sip of coffee as you became lost in your thoughts. Thinking about how your journey with the brothers began you smiled to yourself. How far along you had come. The relationships you had built with all of them became special to you. You cherished each one. And while you had kissed here and there with them and even slept in a few of their beds. You hadn’t had sex with any of them.
You exhaled as you picked up the book once more. You had a lot of reading to do. Part of you wished Satan was here with you to study with you. He made the perfect study buddy. And those emerald eyes when he would steal a glance at you when he thought you weren’t paying attention. And when you caught him, he would blush and bury himself back into his book. You just loved how easy he was to fluster. His self-control when it came to things involving you was short leashed. He would snap off easily. You grinned as you twirled a stray strand of hair that fell from the hold of your hair tie.
You recalled one instance where you ended up making out and heavy touching. It would have probably gone further, however. No place was a safe place when the brothers were involved. Of course, Levi caught you both and freaked out. A blushing, stuttering mess because your shirt was disheveled and open, exposing your tits. He ended up passing out and you and Satan had to get the nurse. You chuckled at the memory before you shook your head. You needed to focus. However, your mind was constantly thinking of them. You wondered what they were up to right now.
