His Wings Mean Death

Summary:

Basically an AU where Izzy and Jim are pirates while Blackbeard/Ed, Olu, Black Pete, and Lucius work at Blackbeard's Bar and Grill. And Stede is there, like a lot. Kinda stalker vibes /hj
This does also mention slave trade, which is canon in the show, but I feel the need to add here as well.

Thank you to cxhztile for helping me set up the story while chatting about it with me and helping develop further plots :)

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Izzy Hands was used to being no one. No one ever seemed to notice or love him while he was living at the Vatican. He was bought and sold into the Vatican to be someone to clean and care for the city. He was never viewed as human or having a real role in the world, despite having been a trained killer with skill sets to protect those around him. While working at the Vatican, it fell under attack where he fought to protect the nephew of the Pope earning Izzy Hands his freedom the name Izzy Basilica Hands. After earning his freedom, Izzy ran off to the sea to become a pirate where he met Jim, the mute pirate captain who took him in due to his fighting abilities. Jim knew that Izzy had a Catholic tie due to the rosary and blessing from the Pope, a sheet of paper he kept in his pocket. He always says a verse before killing someone or if not, says a prayer over their body, sending them well wishes on their trip to hell. The verse being “to stand between the earth and the heaven, with a drawn sword in his hand stretched out against Hebrews’ enemies.” This lead him to receive the second nickname the Angel of Death.

Jim let Izzy join his crew, despite the fact that Izzy occasionally granted mercy to those who begged enough. He would say recite the scripture “ask and you shall receive” Though more accurately the two noted pieces are "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." in Matthew 7:7 or in reference to John 16:24, Jesus stated, “Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” These scriptures, his forgiveness, and blessings from the Pope earned him the favor of God. Izzy became more religious as he went on, creating more of a iconic view for himself as the Angel of Death. Others refer to him as the Forgotten Devil, or Righteous Hand of God. As time went on, the visuals of Izzy as the Angel of Death became more notorious. Despite Izzy’s sparring nature and allowing there to be some survivors of his wrath, he and Jim had both been likened to the Four Horsemen, Izzy being Death and Jim being War. Izzy killed because he could and showed slight remorse after with prayer though it was more of a sending of the soul to the Gates of Hell than anything more. Jim, on the other hand, killed because the can and they want to. They showed no remorse or shame, and their only regret is that they didn’t kill more people. The second regret Jim had was not being the most notorious killer, Izzy held the title.

Izzy being the title holder was more an honor blessed upon him by the survivors because he left people who were able to describe their experiences to others. Jim was a more silent and effective killer and his kill count was higher than Izzy’s. Though Izzy’s reputation preceded him, mostly due to the angelic tattoos he had. There were wings on his back, a flaming sword on right arm, biblically accurate angels scattered on his body. People swear that they could see the wings on Izzy’s back when the shadows fell just right. The fluidness of his body and the movements made seemed like he was indeed the Archangel Michael with a sword of flames, despite it just being the sun reflecting on the rubies that rested on the hilt of his sword.
