Chapter Text
Usual life in the city of Chicago, everyone was busy with their daily activities.
The lawyer followed up the cases and supported his clients; the psychiatrist received his patients and gave them the treatment to make them feel better; the barber used to meet his customers to fix their hair and beard; the doctor was trying to understand what the pathology and the best cure was to make the health of his patients better.
This was what happened at Chicago Med, a well-known hospital where there were really talented doctors.
They were great people who never gave up trying to do everything and more to save as many lives as possible.
Sharon Goodwin was the boss there and made sure the emergency room worked properly.
Nurses included dedicated Meggie Lockwood and loving April Sexton.
Among the doctors were people like veteran Ethan Choi, sweet Doctor Natalie Manning, intuitive Doctor Daniel Charles, talented Doctor Will Halstead and many others.
Doctors came to the hospital every day trying to do their best to heal people.
That was what Will did too.
Every morning he woke up and after preparing himself and having a nice hot coffee he went to the hospital ready to do everything humanly possible for the people who would arrive looking for help.
That wasn't a great time for him.
He was having great difficulties, both financial and sentimental.
His landlord had raised his rent again and despite overtime he still hadn't been able to pay the previous month's tuition.
Everything had changed since he returned to Chicago.
He had been away from the city for a while, and many things had been different since his return.
Yeah, before he was estranged from there he had a wonderful life, he was getting married, he was going to be Owen's father and things were going well at work.
Now, however, he found himself without money to pay the rent of his house, but above all alone.
He no longer had his woman, Natalie, who was already with someone else.
They never met with Jay because they had completely different hours.
Connor Rhodrs, one of his best friends, had left town due to personal vicissitudes.
Dr. Charles, another friend of his, was often too busy or caught up in meetings with students.
He had also been requested to make meetings on various topics, so he tried to update himself and prepare his notes taking advantage of all the time possible. He also devoted time to his daughter. He therefore only went to the emergency room if necessary when he was called.
The only one who was left was Meggie who regarded him as a brother, although many days they almost never met, or they acted together on a patient without being able to talk about anything other than the latter and his pathology.
So that was how his Dr. Halstead days were.
In the hospital until the evening, working overtime to earn some extra money and then returning home and whatever the time of arrival he always met the owner of it with whom he systematically ended up arguing because he could not pay the rent.
How sad.
But how long could it go on like this?
