Work Text:
The exhaustion was beginning to affect Minerva. She could barely concentrate, and even saw the maps and plans on her desk blurry.
She rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand and brushed her hair behind her ears.
"Fuck this shit… piece of crap" she growled as she pushed some papers away from her and took others.
"Ojou" a deep voice that came from behind her called.
Minerva turned sharply, trying to identify the intruder that had dared to enter her tent.
"Rogue" her expression softened, and she turned around again.
"You're still here" he said approaching.
It was not a question, but rather a statement. A statement in an accusatory tone.
"This is not going well... I must find a solution to the lack of reinforcements before they take the North. We are losing-"
"Minerva" Rogue interrupted her seriously "It's 3 in the morning. Go to bed".
"No" she answered flatly "Not until I get this shit done" she said leaning her elbows on the table and holding her head in her hands.
"You're not going to be able to fix this right now. You need to clear your mind. You need to rest" he said softly.
Minerva turned around and looked at him.
"I won't sleep until I finish it, Rogue" she concluded as she reviewed more papers.
"You're so stubborn" Rogue scolded her, hugging her around the waist from behind.
Minerva tensed for a moment, but her stiffness didn't last long given the comfort and warmth of his embrace.
"Rogue… please let me work" she practically begged him.
The Dragon Slayer placed a kiss on her cheek.
"No… we are going to bed" he said kissing her neck.
"We?" Minerva turned to him and arched an eyebrow.
Rogue nodded, putting a hand in her hair so that she rested her head on his shoulder.
She closed her eyes and returned the hug weakly.
"Tomorrow we'll think of a solution together" whispered Rogue.
"Hm" Minerva replied sleepily.
"And... I want you to know that you're doing great... We're in good hands. I trust you".
"Thank you" she said.
"And now let's go to bed" he concluded taking her in his arms bridal style.
Minerva nuzzled his neck with her nose.
"You can be very convincing when necessary, you know? You would make a good Guild Master" she scoffed.
"I don't think so. I think my conviction skills only work on you" he laughed as he carried her to her sleeping bag.
"To be honest you convince me more when doing another things..." she said mischievously.
Rogue blushed a little and helped her into her sleeping bag.
"Don't tempt me" he warned her as he lay down in the small space next to her.
"Why not?" she asked pecking his lips "We are both building up a lot of tension" she smiled playing with his hair.
"We are also accumulating a lot of tiredness, especially you" he inquired placing his arm around his waist.
"Prig" sneered Minerva.
Rogue laughed and placed a deep kiss on her lips.
"I'll take it upon myself to correct your opinion of me when we get back home" he whispered into her ear, nibbling her ear gently.
"I'm looking forward to it" Minerva said calmly lying on top of him.
Rogue caressed her head with one hand and her lower back with the other under her shirt.
"Hm" Minerva nodded closing her eyes.
"I love you" Rogue whispered.
He already knew that he would not get an answer. Maybe because she was already asleep, maybe because she never responded to him when he expressed his feelings for her. It's not that she didn't reciprocate, she had shown to love Rogue more than anyone, but she just wasn't ready to talk about it yet.
Still, Minerva would always appreciate his show of affection and his sweet words. And though she wasn't about to admit it, she was looking forward to the day when she could reciprocate as he deserved and make their strange relationship stable.
For the moment, she would settle for the safety of his embrace.
