Notes:

Hi babies! I’m so so excited to be sharing this fic with you all. The moment I heard about the Loummy fic fest happening this year, I knew I had to join and of course after seeing all the prompts this one jumped out at me and I needed to write it. So I did! (: This fic was so fun to write and it’s my first time writing a/b/o and it certainly won’t be my last ;)

First and foremost, I want to thank the mods of this cute little fest for allowing me to join and write something special. I loved this experience. Next I want to give a massive shoutout to Kenny (@luviebaybie on twitter) for betaing this fic for me and helping me out a ton! I love you. Also I want to thank Lilli and Violet for giving me opinions when I sent snippets and for letting me scream about my progress. You both are so special to me. All of my friends on twitter for hyping me up and being excited with me, thank you.

Alright, enough of me rambling. Final things. If you want to see the moodboard I made for this fic, you can find it on my Twitter (@softloubabie) or on the loummy fic fest tumblr! If you have questions or concerns please feel free to dm or send into my cc your messages!

Chapter Text

Louis was 20 when he got pregnant. A night of partying and a hot alpha named Mitchell led to a bad decision agreed to by Louis; that the alpha didn’t need to wear a condom. Louis was on birth control and never missed a day, so one time would surely be okay.

No. It wasn’t okay. Because three weeks later Louis noticed a change in his scent. It was a slight change, but it was there. He knew immediately that the only possible reasons for the change were that he was now mated (which he was not), or he was pregnant.

It took 18 minutes for Louis to purchase and take a pregnancy test. With shaky hands and a racing mind, he looked at the results and felt his whole body go numb. A baby. He was going to have a baby with an alpha he wasn’t dating or mated to. His parents were going to hate him. The alpha was surely not going to stay with him or the baby. And he was only 20 years old. He didn’t know what to do with his life. Or how things in the real world worked yet. He had a very tiny apartment and a job at a clothing store. He wasn’t in college, having decided that it just wasn’t for him one semester in.

His mom was the first person he called as he walked out of his bathroom and fell onto his bed. “Mom,” he mumbled as soon as the line connected and he heard his mothers voice. “I need to tell you something..”

His mother sighed deeply as Louis let the words “I’m pregnant” leave his mouth. He could just feel the disappointment before she could even reply. “I’m sorry.”

“Lou…you know how our family feels about un-mated pregnancy. How could you be so reckless?” She asked. “Who’s the alpha?”

Louis bit his lip. “Uh, his name is Mitchell. I met him at a party.” He said, internally cringing at his answer.

His mother took a moment before talking. “So he’s not a boyfriend or anything? Will he support you and the baby? You know how hard it is for a single omega parent to find an alpha who will want to take on the responsibility of a child…”

“No, he isn’t a boyfriend. I’m gonna tell him, but he doesn’t do the whole relationship thing so it’s not going to work out. And yes— I know it’s hard to find an alpha while being a single parent, but I can do it. I’ll have you and dad right?” He asked hopefully.

“You’ll have me. I can’t speak for your father though. You know how he feels about these things. Look, I have to go, but make sure you make an appointment to get checked.” His mother said slowly.

Louis knew that meant that he didn’t really have his mother’s support, but he didn’t want to push it so he just hummed. “Yeah, I will. Love you mom.”

The line went dead a moment later.

Telling Mitchell was harder than expected. Even finding a good time to meet up was way more difficult than it should’ve been. Louis had gone to the doctors and got confirmation that he was, in fact, pregnant.

“I don’t want to hook up with you, it’s just important that I tell you something.” Louis said once more into the phone.

“Well, at least meet me at the club and we can talk. I don’t really want to come to your apartment if we aren’t hooking up.” The alpha said into the phone.

Louis rolled his eyes. He didn’t want to go out and he also didn’t want to hook up with Mitchell ever again. “I’m pregnant! Okay? No more parties and drinking or hooking up for me.” He finally snapped at the alpha.

Mitchell went silent before bursting into laughter. “You’re funny, no seriously, why don’t you want to hook up? I think I left you pretty satisfied, didn’t I?”

Louis scrunched his nose. “I’m not kidding. I have the test and ultrasound and everything. I’m pregnant and it’s your baby.”

“Well, that’s not my problem. You slut. It could be any alpha’s baby.” Mitchell spat.

“No no, I’m sure it’s your baby. You’re the only one who didn’t wear a condom. Which is also kinda your fault because you didn’t want to and it’s my fault for agreeing to it.” Louis rolled his eyes. “And you’re the only alpha I’ve been with in months so.”

“Well, I don’t want it and I’m certainly not going to be giving you any money for it.”

Louis hadn’t expected any different. “Yeah, well I’m not asking you to. This is my baby and only mine. I just wanted to tell you that in about 8 and a half months, you’ll technically have a child.” Louis said as he picked at a thread from the pillow he was holding.

“Well good luck taking care of a child with no alpha. You’re never going to find one who will want an omega who has a child.” Mitchell laughed before hanging up.

Louis huffed. “Well fuck you too.” He muttered, throwing his phone on the couch next to him. He ran a hand over his face and looked down at his stomach. Louis let out a quiet sigh before pulling his shirt up a bit and placing his hand over his belly button. “Well, it’s just me and you then. That’s okay. I’ll always protect you.” He said quietly, biting his bottom lip as a few tears fell from his eyes.

He already loved his unborn baby.

The first few months of pregnancy were pretty easy. Louis only had morning sickness a few days a week, but thankfully saltine crackers helped a lot with the nausea. He continued going to work and going to his doctors appointments. His best friend and coworker, Taylor, had been thrilled to hear that Louis was pregnant and had already bought a few baby things for him.

Taylor had even accompanied Louis to some of his appointments. One of the best was when it was time to find out the gender of the baby. Taylor had picked Louis up from his apartment, and together the two omega’s sat in the examination room while the ultrasound tech moved the wand over Louis’ growing baby bump.

“Alright, well, the baby is looking healthy. Looks like the baby is awake and moving today.” The doctor grinned, “It’s a girl!” She said, moving the wand so Louis could see. “Congratulations!”

Louis felt himself tear up immediately, giggling as he watched the screen. His daughter moved again, almost trying to hide from them. He looked over at his best friend and saw that she was crying too.

“Oh Lou, I’m so happy for you! You’re gonna be the best mommy to your daughter. And my god-daughter!” The omega squealed. “We have to go shopping after this.”

Louis just nodded, thanking the doctor when she came back with the ultrasound photos and a paper with Louis’ next appointment date on it.

Louis decided on a baby name during his 7th month of pregnancy. He had been in the bath, bubbles and the scent of lavender surrounding him. He had been exhausted after trying to work a few extra shifts to afford all the baby items he needed. A crib, a car seat, a stroller, clothes, diapers, wipes, bottles, and so many other items that racked up quite the bill.

Taylor had been an absolute angel throughout all the baby prep. She was there for everything involving the baby and was Louis’ number one supporter. Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for Louis’ parents. Louis had only heard from his mother once and it was only to be told that his father had decided Louis was no longer invited to his retirement party. Not that Louis would have even gone.

Louis had looked up baby names but none of them really jumped out at him. He tested a few out, calling the baby different names when he was talking to her, but none of them fit. Until he thought about the name Wren. As soon as he got out of the bath and changed into pajamas, he walked over to the couch and sat down, placing his hand over his baby bump. “Hi my little love. I think I might have your name picked out now. What do you think about Wren? Do you like that?” He spoke aloud, smiling fondly at his tummy.

A small flutter and a kick made Louis gasp. “Baby Wren, you like that name too?” He asked, smiling brightly as another kick came. “Perfect, I’m glad we agree. Auntie Taylor is going to be so happy that we finally have a name for you.”

It was September 12th when Louis felt the first contractions  happening super close to one another. It was almost 10 p.m. and he was sure Taylor was probably home sleeping. Plus it was 3 weeks too early for Wren to be making her appearance. Nevertheless, Louis didn’t want to wait so he grabbed his phone and called Taylor to come pick him up. “It’s time,” he had muttered into the phone, wincing as his contractions came again.

“Oh shit! I’m on my way. Do you have your bag ready?” Taylor asked. Louis could hear the rushed movements she was making and soon heard her car start. “Breathe Louis, I’m driving to you now.”

At the hospital Louis was hooked up to all the monitors and given his pain medicine. Thankfully, Wren was alright, but she was almost ready to come out. Taylor was right next to Louis through it all.

By 2 a.m. Louis was told that it was time for his c-section. The doctors did one last check before wheeling him out of the room into the operation room. Taylor followed closely behind, Louis thankful she was allowed to be there with him. She held his hand as the surgeon began the surgery.

And at 2:42 a.m. on September 13th Wren Tomlinson was born. She was tiny and weighed only 6 pounds, but was completely healthy even though she was born early. Louis thought she was perfect. Her bright blue eyes, light brown hair, and tiny little nose reminded Louis of himself when he was a baby. She was beautiful.
