Work Text:
“You are all going to boarding school”
The council member choked on his water and he threw the glass on the ground. “Excuse me, what did you say?” The people next to him had the same reaction, albeit without the choking on the water part. They were confused by the leader’s abrupt statement and they also didn’t like the sound of boarding school. They all heard of the cruelties that happened in such schools. The leader rubbed his chin and looked at everyone in front of him. He knew that this decision would not go well with the rest, but he needed them to go to a boarding school so they could all learn how to be independent and make mature decisions. Right now, he felt like he was babysitting toddlers who had no idea what responsibility even meant. Yes, the people in front of him were not children but that didn’t mean that they were innocent by any means.
The leader knew how they all worked. The council member who was still recovering from choking was known for being a troublemaker and a big egoist and coward when it came to fighting the barbarians. The doctor next to him was probably one of the most sane in this group. By the look on her face it was obvious to assume that boarding school was a bad idea. Next to her stood the known troublemaker of the town, the one who made people slip on banana peels and the only one who played loud music that could ruin your ears. Most jesters in this town were decent when it came to music, but this one was a hardcore prankster and was even warned by the higher deities to not play loud music. It was very bad if one of the deities gave out punishments as they could strike fear right into the hearts of the bad ones. Next to the jester stood one of the town’s landlords. A greedy man who only thought of money and the one who raised rent to unfair prices. The council and that landlord fought about rent all the time and it was ridiculous to see that everyday.
“Well, I am sending you all to boarding school because you guys suck. As you can see, you guys don’t have any idea what responsibility is. Some of you may ask me, "But what is the benefit of boarding school anyway”? Well, for one, you will get independence and self-reliance. You will learn the benefits of hard work. Next on the list is discipline, I am pretty sure you all know what that means. You will also learn how to be a functional member of society.” The leader said and everyone looked at him like he was some kind of idiot.
The doctor immediately stood up and said “I can see why you would make those idiots go to boarding school, but why me? I am probably one of the sanest people here and I don’t go killing others with a sword.” Everyone else gave her a disapproving glance and some even pouted. The leader sighed and looked up. “God, give me strength, this is why I am sending you with them! You have a problem calling people idiots and you think that you are better than them just because you heal them and get them out of near death situations. I am grateful that you do that and all, but you are not better than them either, everyone in this room needs to learn how to be a decent member of society and that is why I am sending you all to boarding school!” He said the last part louder than necessary and turned around so he couldn’t see them. The council member did not approve of this and he felt angry. Angry at the leader, angry at himself and angry at society. How could the man in front of him send everyone to the devil’s spawn that was known as boarding school? Has he not seen what happened last time when the other council members were angry? The man in purple’s hand went to the sword that was held on his left hip. It took him a minute to realize that there was a hand on his shoulder and he looked to his left and saw the doctor’s disapproving glance. She shook her head and the council member sighed and let go of the sword. Guess he had to inform his colleagues of the new change.
