Chapter Text
“I’m like not yelling ‘fore’ every time I swing Gator, you want me to sound like a suburban white dad in a sweater vest?” The blue Bunny’s nose twitched in annoyance as he spoke, both arms down as his hands gripped the club. He was trying to focus, they were on the second to last hole of the night, almost neck of neck in points since both of them had gotten a hole in one 90% of the time.
“Where’s the fun in not sayin’ it, Cher?” He heard the reptile speak behind him, his accent drawling and Bonnie didn’t even have to look to know he had a shit eating grin on his face “the fun is gonna be when I get to brag to the rest of the band that I whooped your ass at your own game, gator” he said, pulling the club back and swinging. They both watched the ball sail and roll…and roll….and….come to a calm, peaceful stop less than a foot from the hole.
“Ugh!” Bonnie wanted to break the stupid golf club in half; even more so when he could hear Monty’s howling laughter behind him and Bonnie spun around to glare at him. “shut your muzzle, lizard, a birdie ain’t gonna put me below you” he said, crossing his arms and walking down to his ball. Of course on this second stroke the ball sank in and he heard the little electronic voice call out ‘birdie!’
Monty was now a whole stroke ahead of him, which was annoying but Bonnie knew how to work his mouth to turn this game in his favor. When Monty teed up for the next hole Bonnie slid up beside him “wow you sure know how to work that club huh? Are you, y’know” he grinned, giving a little flick of his wrist and it worked like a charm. Monty’s ball went flying off, bouncing off one of the robotic gator heads and landing back on the mat a few inches away from them.
He watched steam quite literally pour from the Gator’s nostrils, watching that sharp glare out of the corner of his eye “keep your mouth shut, cotton tail I’m tryin to focus” he snarled and Bonnie placed one hand over his chest and used the other to mime zipping his mouth shut.
He definitely didn’t plan on keeping quiet though.
When Monty pulled back his club the second time Bonnie grabbed hold of his tail and gave it a tug “woah! This thing is massive!”
Again, the ball flew, Monty’s club actually tearing into the fake grass and Bonnie couldn’t help but clutch his stomach hatch and squeal out laughter.
This time Monty didn’t even speak, just stomped over to the ball and this time sunk it into the hole.
“Aw Gator I’m awful sorry about that” he teased, giving him a wink before teeing up his own ball. One good swing and he sunk a good hole in one. Music filled the room, the bucket up at the top of the ceiling turning over and dumping dozens of colored balls into the surrounding area and Bonnie gasped “did I just get? A hurricane hole in one? At Monty’s gator golf?”
He hopped over to the gator, little tail wiggling behind him as he watched the gator cross his arms and huff. “Are you mad big guy? Don’t be mad at little ol’ me, I’m so cute ain’t I?” he said, reaching up on his tip toes to press a soft kiss to Monty’s muzzle.
Monty cocked his head at the Bunny, huffing out a breath and nudging the end of his muzzle against Bonnie’s small nose “what’s with you kissin on me all the time, Bun? Thought we agreed not to get attached”
“Why are you actin like it’s bothering you? Kinda sounds desperate, ‘oh Bonnie, please fall in love with me’ pfft” the Bunny giggled, covering his mouth “you wanna date me or somethin big guy?” he taunted, nudging the gator.
Except…Monty didn’t laugh. In fact he went eerily quiet.
“Gator c’mon, laugh. Haha. Hahahaha. It’s a joke so laugh”
Again, pure silence and this time Monty even looked away
“….oh my god”
“leave it Bun”
“are you not joking? You like me?”
“leave it. Alone. Bun.”
“Wait but that’s kinda sweet, you fell for me? Wanna be my boyfriend?”
“Bonnie! Fucks sake I said leave it!” Monty snarled this time, turning to face the bunny and towering over him.
Bonnie’s ears dropped.
“fuck- Bon I didn’t mean-“
“It’s fine, I shouldn’t have pushed.” Bonnie smiled then, taking a step back “I gotta go open the bowling Alley anyway, so…. I’ll like, see you around” he said, turning on his heel and hurrying out before the gator even had a chance to stop him
