You Must Be My Cerberus

Summary:

Frank knew what he wanted and was ready for the world to know it too. What can't be spoken over bacon anyway?

Work Text:

NOTE: This is just a quick one shot - Lots of fluff and a sweet Frank as well as the best friendship you can ask for. Who doesn’t want that?! Oh yeah, I re-read this once and have no beta so sorry for any of the errors - don't attack me!

I’d do anything for this man at my side. I’m not sure if he knew it or not, but at some point he became the reason I lived. People say living is easy. It’s not. Not when you’ve been through the shit I’ve been through. Dying is the easy way out. He makes it easier though. He’s become my next breathe and I’d do anything to keep that going, for him. I never even thought I’d want someone in this way again. Someone to hold. Someone to protect. Someone to just do mundane life tasks with like grocery shopping or laundry. Besides, Red was shit at these tasks. It was a surprise he’s survived this long. He was great when it came to the fight, but at living he was horrible. It was almost comical.

“What are you smiling about over there?” Red asked with his damn head tilt and half smile of his own. He always reminded me of a puppy when he did that and who didn’t love puppies? Yet, instead of training the puppy apparently he’s trained me. Domesticated me. I wasn’t angry about it either.

“Nothing Red, just my own thoughts.” I threw my arm around his shoulders and pulled him into me. It was a quiet night tonight. Just the two of us on the rooftop. He was leaning on the AC unit before I pulled him to me. He was tense for just a moment. Like a jaguar ready to pounce. It took him a couple of seconds to relax, but he did and leaned into me further. “I think we should go home. Nothin’ is gonna happen tonight.” It’s been a quiet couple of nights. Some muggings and attempted break-ins, but nothing we couldn’t handle. Easy jobs to take care of.

“Yeah, doesn’t sound like anything is going to happen tonight. Plus it’s already around two so let’s call it. Besides there’s something else I’d rather be doing.” His smile became much more prominent on his face and Damn was it not a look begging to be kissed away. We started to make it back to his place. He was faster than me and easily jumped from rooftop to rooftop. He’s told me a little about his training, but left out far too many details for me to understand how he’s gotten as skilled as he was. I didn’t bring it up though. We were both allowed to have our pasts and our right to determine when to share them.

As soon as we got to the flat I had him pushed into the wall ripping off the armor. It was too thin in my opinion and I really needed to look into making it more padded so he didn’t get hurt. He could take a hit though. I knew it personally. Hell, there have been plenty of times he has put me on my ass. I knew his weakness though and I was going to exploit it. My mouth was on his neck, right on the pulse point lightly scrapping my teeth and tongue up to reach his jaw. The moan that came out of him was what I was aiming for.

“Frank.” It was a breathy request. Certainly a request I wouldn’t ignore. He deserved everything I could give him and more. I smiled along his jaw allowing my hands to slowly slide down his arms while pulling off the top portion of the cowl.

“Tell me what you want Matt.” I whispered into his ear. My tongue lightly traced the ridge of his ear and I nipped the lobe and lightly pulled down. This earned another moan. He’s the most expressive person I’ve ever met. When he let go. When he trusted enough to let go. We were equals though. Equals in everything. Sometimes I needed to be in control and others he did. We respected that need. In the world full of your wannabe alpha males we both fought to be on the top of the food chain. Here we didn’t need to be. Here we were anything the other needed. Tonight, I needed to be in control. I felt helpless tonight for some reason and needed to know that I had control. We didn’t need to talk to know it either. We new each other well enough to have this understanding. I dragged my fingernails lightly down his chest making sure to drag right down his sensitive nipples.

“Frank!” He was practically panting. “I want,” he was breathless and I loved doing this to him. “I want you to take me to the bed.” His hands grabbed at my face reverently. Respect I didn’t deserve, but I’d love him more for. Plus he wanted me to take him to the bed and since he asked so nicely I figure I should do as he asked. My lips were on his again. It wasn’t a possessive kiss, but one of longing. It was soft slides of our tongues and gentle pressure on our lips allowing us to both just feel the want and need of the other. I dragged my hands from his stomach to his hips then down passed his perfect ass and stopped at his thighs. I gripped tightly and pulled him up allowing his legs to wrap my hips. His legs were locked there before I pulled away from the wall and carried him to the bed. I didn’t let him go when we got to our location though. Instead I put my knee down first gently lowering him down onto the soft pillows underneath.

“Now what gorgeous?” My hands never left him, but moved. They were on his thighs and moved up to his waist. His pants were still on and I wanted to take them off. I wanted to feel the skin under my finger tips. I started to slowly unbutton the suit allowing my finger tips to lightly glide against the reward underneath. “Hmm, what can I do for you Matt?” I pulled his pants off. How he can even get them on was a miracle. They made his ass look great sure, but they were tight as hell. Once they were off though he looked like the devil himself. Tempting me like the fruit in Eden. Why everyone thinks it’s an apple is confusing since the Bible never mentions an apple, but whatever, not my story. My story is right here. Sin and temptation. A call that I’d answer willingly every time.

“I want you to take control of me Frank. I want you to take me. All of me.” His head fell back with slight pants relaxing himself with my hands finally off of him. Only for the moment while I sit back on my legs with my knees straddling him. I pull my vest off and throw it on my side of the room. I knew better than to put on his side of the room. He may have great senses, but when you get up in the middle of the night needing to take a piss it was easy to trip over the things you couldn’t see, or in his case, sense. My shirt followed the vest and then I did the thing I dreaded and broke complete contact to get off the bed so I can take my pants off. There was a small whine of protest from Matt and I had to chuckle.

“Yeah, I feel the same way”. We were both full of laughter. It was freeing. A liberating feeling that we both allowed each other to have. It wasn’t something we were able to get often, but together, in the bedroom it was a common occurrence. We had each other for support, for comfort and we’d always be there for the other. There have been enough panic attacks and horrible thoughts that kept us in the darkness more than we were in the light. So this, with each other, was our light. “Let me just take this shit off and I’ll be right back with you.” He was always impatient. He didn’t wait for me to come back to reach down and peel off his own boxer briefs. I guess that’s one less thing I’ll need to do. I made my way back to the bed and to him.

I put my hand on his hip and knelt back down over him. “Lift up for me sweetheart?” As his hips raised off the bed I slid a pillow under him elevating his hips off the bed. I reached over to the nightstand and grabbed the unscented lube left there from a few nights ago. I put my hands back on his hips and gently covered his body with mine again. My left hand slid up to his throat. I put a little pressure into my hand while my other hand squeezed his right hip. “Kiss me.” He demanded. His eyes were locked onto me. He may not have sight, but his look, unfocused as it was, held me. My lips found his. This kiss was more demanding now. He was more demanding now. My hand on his throat twitched and forced him to feel everything around him. All of me around him.

I ground myself against him and allowed both of our cocks to rub against each other. The small amount of friction making Matt’s hips jerk up and a guttural moan rip out of his throat. I felt the goosebumps rise against his skin. I moved my hand from his hip to his stomach holding him down while I ground against him against. He pushed against my hand but didn’t move far. “Frank, I want you.” My hand went to the lube and I started kissing his jawline. The hand on his throat pushed his head to the side so I had room to run kisses and bites along his neck before I pulled the hand away completely to put the lube on my fingers. I grabbed his left leg and pulled it up letting it rest on my bicep while I slowly let my tongue lick from his base to his tip. There was pre cum there that I picked up with the flat of my tongue. “Fuck!” He growled. I took this time to slowly slide my finger into him.

“That feel good?” I gently grazed my teeth on the side of his cock while I pumped my finger in and out. I slide another finger in to scissor my fingers to stretch him and he grunted pleased. “Words Matt.” I took the head of his cock into my mouth and sucked hollowing my cheeks.

“Yes. Yes, I’m ready. Please!” I pulled my fingers out of him and grabbed the lube again. I ran the lube all over my dick and then lifted both of his thighs this time propping him up further. I lined my cock and pushed in. His breathing stuttered as I stretched him out. He was probably feeling the burn of the stretch and I was going to let his body get accustomed to me for a few moments before I moved. My forehead was against his and our breaths just mingled for what felt like an eternity or a blink of an eye. I wasn’t sure.

“You good?” I grabbed his chin and tilted it to where our lips could meet. I stayed still waiting for him to let me know to move.

“I’m better than great.” His hands were on my back holding on tightly to the muscles around my shoulders. He was dragging his fingernails down my back and the pain in the action was lifting. It felt so good. “Fuck, move Frank.”

“Yeah.” I started a nice rhythm with my hips pushing into him harder and harder. His hands were all over me and I dropped my face into the crook of his neck. I knew I was leaving my marks. Bites and hickies in my wake. I want everyone to know that he’s mine. Not just in these moments. I want it to be in all the moments. I want everything with him. I knew that I was close. I knew that he was close. I reached down to his dick and gripped it firmly letting the slickness of his precum help my movement. I sped up my thrusts.

“I’m close Frank.” Matt was surrounding me in every sense he could be at this point. His arms around my neck, his legs wrapped around my waist, and his mouth close to mine. I sealed our lips and let go pumping his cock as quickly as I was thrusting into him.

“Cum for me Matt.” I wasn’t going to finish first and I had to hold myself together to get him there first. “Come on Baby.” He groaned loudly in-between our panting and came over my hand and between our stomachs. I put my forehead on his and allowed both of us a moment to catch out breathe. His hands came up to my face and guided my lips to his again. It was a soft kiss. A loving kiss.

“I love you.” His breathe stopped for a moment as I slid out of him.

“What?” It was choked out. Matt’s hands had stopped on my face. “Did you,” he stopped for a moment gathering his thoughts. “Did you just say what I think you did?” I was worried for a moment, scared I had just pushed the one thing in my life I wanted the most away. Then the smile was on his face. His hands started moving again running along the lines of my face. I let out the breathe I was holding. I gave him a chaste kiss and said it again.

“I said that I love you. I love all of you. Not just these nights of an escape. I love you. I want you.” I felt how sticky we were while I turned over. “I also want you to be clean.” I laughed as I stood up and walked over to the bathroom to get a wet cloth to clean both of us up. When I came back Matt was sitting up in the bed. I walked over to him and gently wiped up our mess.

“Does this mean you’re going to stay tonight?” He asked this like he didn’t already know the answer. I stayed most nights now. Even could convince him on some of those nights to wear earplugs to block out some of the sounds around him. I had gotten him a sleep band that played white noise on top of that gently. I had it specially made in silk for him to wear with the earbuds. It allowed him to sleep without hearing the screams of Hell’s Kitchen.

“I’ll stay on one condition.” I rubbed at his back when I pulled him into my chest as I laid back down on the bed. He laughed.

“You always want to feel like to protector, huh?” He didn’t like turning off. I already knew that he didn’t like it. He didn’t like not hearing the world, even if it made him exhausted. Even if it made him awake more than he should have been. He didn’t sleep enough. He didn’t eat enough. He didn’t take care of himself enough. I wanted to be around to help that. To help him and I swear that I will be from this day out.

“Foggy is coming over in the morning. He is meeting me here around eleven.” He stopped talking about a moment. “Will you wake me up before then?” I just rolled my eyes and leaned over him to open the drawer I knew the items were neatly stored in.

“You’ll be safe with me here and you know it. I gotcha tonight. Get sleep Matt.” I pulled him into me again and gently put the ear plugs into his ears and the band around his head to drown everything out. He put his arm around my waist, his head on my chest and closed his eyes.

“I love you too by the way Frank,” Nothing else was said. I pulled him tighter into me and let the world turn to black as we fell asleep.

It was about nine in the morning when I woke up. Matt was still passed out to the world. Good, he needed the rest. I slowly edged my way out of the bed so I didn’t wake him and grabbed his phone from the bedside table. I knew Foggy well enough to know he’d call before coming by and I didn’t want the phone call to wake him. I wanted him to be able to sleep as much as his body needed for a change. I silenced his phone and made my way to the bathroom to take a quick shower. I left the door open to justify leaving him in a vulnerable state.

I shaved and dressed in a pair of Matt’s sweats. If nothing else he always had the softest clothes. The clothes were a little tight on me and I’m sure I stretched them out, but Matt never seemed to care too much about it. I went over to the kitchen to look in the pantry and fridge. He never had enough to cook with. I always had to be creative when I was here. Maybe we could go grocery shopping together. I couldn’t fathom it was easy going grocery shopping. Simple things that most people didn’t like doing, but didn’t have trouble doing. Matt may have some super sense, but I’m sure it was still a pain in the ass. I could do that with him. I wanted to do that with him.

The phone next to me started to vibrate. It was Foggy. I checked the bedroom to make sure that Matt was still dead to the world and closed the bedroom door gently. “Hello Marshmallow.” I always had a nice soft spot for Foggy Nelson. He is a great guy who was fiercely loyal and a sunshines level of optimism. You had to respect that. Another guy I’d die to protect. I’d protect that light. Not just because he was everything to Matt, but because he deserved it.

“Frank?” There was panic in his voice, most likely from me answering the phone and not Matt. “Is he okay? Did something happen?” Of course I was right.

“He’s good. I just spent the night. I’m making breakfast, you hungry?” There was a confused pause.

“Ugh, yeah, um, I could eat. I’ll be there in about ten minutes.” I smiled at the unease in his voice. Foggy has dealt with me enough at this point to know I wouldn’t hurt him, but I think I still scared him a bit. Matt’s been worried to tell him about us. We’ve talked about it before. Pillow talk of course. We’ve talked about Matt wanting to always leave the opening to him. So he could have his time and then have a clean break if he wanted it. He didn’t want it. Maybe in the beginning it was something he thought about, but not now. He didn’t want a clean break. He wanted Matt’s friends to hunt him down and kill him if he ever hurt Matt in any capacity.

I pulled some eggs, bread, and bacon out and turned the oven on. I put the bacon on a baking sheet to throw it in the oven to cook. Bacon should take about 30 minutes or so. I’d wait to start the eggs. It didn’t take long until I heard Foggy outside the door. I walked over before he had the chance to knock and answered the door. “Hey.” I let him into the flat and walked back over to the kitchen.

He must have picked up on me talking softly because he glanced over at the closed bedroom door and then locked back at me staring at the sweats. He probably saw the scratches on my back too, but he didn’t say anything. I wonder how much he knows. How intuitive he is. I mean he had to at least suspect that me and his best friend were shacking up. How many times has he caught me here? Granted most of those times one of us was hurt and were patched up, but still. “I smell bacon.” That’s what he says. I laugh at the ridiculous nature of it.

“Yeah, it’s in the oven. Want some coffee?” I gesture to the chair at the kitchen table for him to sit at and he just nods. I pour him a cup leaving room for milk and sugar knowing him well enough he’d want it and put them on the table so he can add how much ever he wants.

“What are you doing here Frank? How is Matt still sleeping? He knew I was coming and he never sleeps this late.” Good, he was defensive for his friend. I liked that about him. I liked that he was worried enough for his friend that he’d even stand up to me. It showed character and he respected this man for it. He also just slyly smiled.

“I’m here because I want to be here and because I’m hungry.” I decided it was a good time to start making the eggs.

“That doesn’t explain why he is still sleeping, that is unheard of with his senses.” Foggy eyed the door. You could clearly see that he was itching to go in there and check on him,

“You go in there and wake him up I will shoot both of your knee caps. No matter how much I like you.” He looked at me sharply. “He’s sleeping because I convinced him to start using noise canceling ear plugs and a white noise band that you sleep with to block out the world.” He looked confused at this.

“He’d never do that. Matt would never take away his hearing willingly.” He went to stand up. He wasn’t scared, just worried for his friend. He’s right. It took a lot of time and arguing for Matt to do it in the first place. He did it seldomely and would typically fight him on it. As far as he knew Matt would only do it when he was with Frank and knew he wasn’t going anywhere.

“Easy Fogs. Matt’s fine. Stubborn as hell, sure, but he’s done it a few times now. Not as much as I would like, but I can get him to wear the stupid things when he knows that I am here to stay and I’m not going to leave him.” This response made him choke on his drink. He stared at me for a long moment and I was going to let him make of that as he wished.

“So, how often would you say you stay then?” I went to answer sarcastically, but he continued. “I have noticed a few changes. Like the fact he is more rested, happier, and all in all in less pain.” Foggy was bold when he looked me right in the eyes expecting an answer. I wasn’t going to lie. Besides, he knew how to win over my prideful side by suggesting I was the reason for the change.“Enough to have space in the closet and a few drawers of my things here.” He eyed me again looking me up and down.

“And yet, I’m pretty sure those are Matts?” He was smiling now and I just smirked.

“Have you ever wore Matts clothes? They are the softest pants I’ve ever had on. It’s like being snuggled by kittens. I don’t care what clothes I have here if his clothes are near that will be my go to.” I was just plating the eggs and waiting for the toast to pop up when I heard the door open from the bedroom.

“Perhaps we should just order more in your size so you can stop stretching all mine out. Not that I hate the smell you leave in them of course.” I had to turn around to grab the toast not wanting Foggy to see my actual blush. I heard Matt chuckle. It was clear he didn’t need to see me to know there was heat from my face. He walked right over to me letting his hand rest on the small of my back. “You were suppose to wake me up before he got here, you promised remember?” There was no heat in his words.

“Actually, I never promised. You asked me to and I ignored it. Now go to the table so you can eat. I’ll bring everything over.” He kissed my cheek lightly and I knew that all of Foggy’s suspicions were now one hundred percent confirmed. I pushed him away from me while opening the oven to get the bacon out.

“How long has this been going on?” Foggy asked once all the food was on the table and we were all sitting down. Matt stayed quiet and just munched on his eggs. I rolled my eyes at him. This was his friend, but apparently I was the one who was going to tell it how it was.

“A couple months. Maybe longer.” Foggy looked at both of us taking that in.

“I’m not that surprised to be honest.” He literally shrugged. “To be honest, I’ve seen you guys interact with each other. You both are extremely protective of the other and always on the spectrum of intensity so it was bound to happen eventually.” He started to eat his breakfast. “Besides, if Matty can forgive you for literally shooting him in the head I suppose I can.” I tensed at the memory. It was a topic of conversation me and Matt have had and he wouldn’t go into details, but knowing his senses better now I can pretty much put two and two together. I’d just need to make it up to him.

“Wait, you’re cool with this Fogs?” Matt tilted his head in that direction giving Foggy his full attention. He had abandoned his food at this point. I’m pretty sure that Matt was half bird the way he ate, or didn’t. How he had the energy to do all those damn flips with what his intake was absolutely astounding.

Foggy just shrugged and continued eating his food grabbing another slice of bacon. “Yeah, as long as he’s treating you right and understands that I would murder him with his own guns if he ever hurts you then I don’t have a problem with it.” He said it so nonchalantly that I choked on my coffee. Had to give the marshmallow props for the pair of balls on him for sure. I liked the added flair of my own guns. Come to think about it, he probably didn’t even own a gun.

“Do you even know how to shoot a gun?” I asked genuinely curious. He hesitated which probably answered the question, but just shrugged again. “If you want, I can always show you. I know Matt doesn’t like it, but to be honest it’s probably important you have one for protection. Especially if we keep makin’ enemies.” I mentioned it, but thought it was a solid idea that I’d make sure happened sooner rather than later.

“It’s probably a good idea. I know Karen has one.” Matt’s words caught me off guard. Clearly caught Foggy off guard too because we were both looking at him like he had three heads. With the head tilt perhaps he was my Cerberus. “I don’t know why thats such a shock. I don’t like guns, but I also don’t like the idea of you getting hurt either. I know you won’t go on a rampage or anything and you wouldn’t kills someone to kill someone.” Matt drank some of his coffee. “Besides, you wouldn’t find anyone else more capable to teach you about guns than Frank.” He got up to clean off his plate. “I’m going to go take a quick shower.” He walked out of the room and we just sat there awkwardly. We both knew him well enough to know that he didn’t like what he said.

“Thanks I guess. Maybe a time where Matt’s not around.” Suddenly Foggy started to uncontrollably laugh.

“What?” He looked crazed.

“I was wondering where all the marks were coming from. I’m not the least bit surprised that you’re a possessive shit. He looks like he’s gone through a war zone”. I smiled lightly chuckling with the observation. I didn’t respond back knowing it was true,

“Why are you here anyway?” Foggy pushed the plate away. We were both done eating at this point.

“Errands. I typically help him do some grocery shopping and whatever else he needs. It’s like a ritual for us at this point that we’ve held on to since college.” Made sense. Foggy was a great friend. It only goes to show that he’d be all in helping his best friend.

“Yeah, then why is it every time I’m here he never has much in the way of food around here?” I laughed as he huffed in frustration.

“That’s not Fog’s fault. Don’t blame him. I don’t buy what’s not needed. There’s no reason to waste money and food.” Matt made his way back to us and started to clean off the table.

“Do you guys mind if I tag along? If I’m going to eat most of the food I might as well help pay for it and help pick out what’s here. I’m pretty sure I cook here more than this dingus does anyway.” Matt just smiled and stayed quiet.

“Well, if you’re going to cook Castle I may come over more often. I’ve only eaten what you’ve made a handful of times, but I haven’t had anything worth complaining about yet.” I had to admit, I was a pretty good cook so he had that right.

“Yeah, well maybe we can invite some people over and have ourselves something of a dinner party.” That was one hell of an idea and maybe another time it would make for an interesting story.

NOTE: The End - Hope you enjoyed it :)
