Midoriya’s day hadn’t started out the greatest. He overslept because he was studying for a test the next day until almost midnight and woke up 15 minutes after his alarm went off so he had to rush to get ready and grab a quick snack for breakfast.
He got to class just before the bell rang and Aizawa walked in. “Cutting it close today Midoriya” Aizawa stated.
“Sorry sir, I missed my alarm this morning and overslept a bit” he explained “it won’t happen again”.
Turns out the test Midoriya had stayed up so late studying for wasn’t until next week, which irritated him because he could’ve gotten more sleep instead of worrying about studying for a test he thought was the next day.
During training he was paired up with Bakugou to spar. Which usually he didn’t mind, but today Bakugou’s taunts we’re starting to get to him. Usually it’s 50/50 on who gets pinned, but today it was Midoriya every time.
“Wow Deku, didn’t think you were this weak. Maybe I should go spar with Shitty Hair next time, he’d actually give me a challenge” he said before walking off as Aizawa called for the end of class. Midoriya watched as Bakugou walked towards the class already in their groups heading toward the locker room to change. He saw Kirishima walk up to him, put an arm around his shoulder and start talking to him without being yelled at and a piece of him wondered how Kiri managed to become so close in such a short amount of time. Not wanting to go down that rabbit hole, he tried pushing that thought away and went to change before heading back to the dorms.
“You okay Deku” asked Uraraka as she came up to him with Iida, Todoroki and Tsu behind her as they walked back to the dorms together “you seem a little off after your spar with Bakugou”.
“If I said I was fine would any of you believe me?” Deku asked. “No” Todoroki replied bluntly.
“You know you can come talk to any of us if you need to Midoriya, we are your friends” Iida stated.
“I know Iida, and I appreciate it” Midoriya started as they walked into the dorms shortly after Bakugou and Kirishima“it’s just hard seeing Kirishima being so close to Kacchan in such a short amount of time when I’ve known him since we were kids and I’ve been trying for years and yet haven’t even gotten close to where Kirishima is with him”.
“Have you tried talking to Bakugou about it?” Tsu asked.
“Like I could talk to Kacchan and he would actually listen” Deku chuckled. “I’ve been trying for years and it’s always the same, either I get yelled at or, when I was in middle school, I got beat up” Midoriya added as he explained how until shortly before the entrance exam he was quirkless and was bullied and didn’t have any friends because of it.
“Oh Deku” Uraraka exclaimed giving Midoriya a hug “I’m so sorry you had to deal with that for so long and had no one to be there for you, but you have us now and we’ll be here for you whenever you need us”.
“Midoriya I know your not exactly the most assertive type, but I feel that it would be beneficial for you to try and be assertive when you try and talk to Bakugou about these issues next” Iida stated.
“How am I going to do that, he barely listens to me anyways in the first place” Midoriya whined.
“It’s simple really” Iida said as he started to explain the best way for Midoriya to be able to talk to Bakugou.
