“Come on Wonie! Don’t be such a scary cat and come up here!” Sunoo said and giggled softly as Jungwon shakily climbed up the ladder but just as Jungwon reached the top, he heard a scream which was soon followed by a loud crack. “Sunoo hyung..?” He mumbled before looking over the small balcony of their treehouse and screamed in horror. Sunoo had fallen over the ledge.
Jungwon quickly went down and ran over to the unconscious Sunoo. He shook the younger male and teared up when he noticed blood on the ground. He cried out for his parents as the ambulance was called. Sunoo had died from his fall which completely destroyed the young boy. Jungwon would cry in Jay’s arms everytime he missed Sunoo. He made it his mission to discover the truth behind Sunoo’s death.
High school came and Jungwon found a small group of friends and they would sometimes ask about the boy in his wallpaper and he would always explain that it was his childhood best friend and crush. He noticed that Jay would roll his eyes every time he talked about Sunoo but brushed it off as nothing.
When Jungwon got home, he laid down on his bed and sighed softly, picking up a photo of him and Sunoo and hugged it as tears streamed down his face. “Happy birthday Sunoo…god I miss you so much…” He said softly and turned around to pick up the bunny plushie Sunoo had gotten for him on his birthday when they were 14. “Why did you have to die...?” He said to himself and sighed softly. He heard a knock on the door and wiped his tears away before telling whoever knocked to come in. “Hey honey, I found something for you.” His mother said and passed him a video camera and CD.
Jungwon turned on the video camera and smiled softly. Inside was over 50 videos of him and Sunoo.
“Are you sure about this Wonie? What if he gets mad at us?” The young Sunoo said to Jungwon. “He would never get mad at us! He’s too soft to!” Jungwon said and giggled as they set up the scare prank they planned. “Ready?” Sunoo asks as Jungwon nods. When they heard Jay approaching, the pair jumped out from behind the tree causing Jay to yelp in surprise. The two giggled as Jay rolled his eyes and groaned.
After watching a few videos, he placed the disc in his CD player and watched the video.
“Tell me Sunoo. Do you like him.” Jay said in a serious tone while looking at Sunoo with an almost furious look. “Why does it matter! I knew him since we were babies and you! You just showed up one day and you think you can easily tear him away from me?” Sunoo yelled and glared at Jay. “If you dare get close to him, I swear to god I will kill you.” Jay said and smirked.
Jungwon was stunned. Did Jay really say that to Sunoo? He had so many questions. He picked up the video camera and a small bunch of flowers before telling his mother he was going to visit Sunoo’s grave. He got on his bike and went to the forest where their treehouse stood. Under the tree was Sunoo’s grave. He knelt next to the grave and placed the flowers next to it and sighed. “What or…who made you fall Sunnie…” He said softly and rewatched some of the videos.
Jungwon looked at the treehouse and turned his video camera on as he started to climb up the tree one last time. When he got to the top he found multiple carvings on the walls containing a heart with the initials “JxJ” and a picture of him, Sunoo and Jay with a huge cross on Sunoo’s face. “What the hell…” He mumbled before hearing a laugh behind him. “You finally found out the truth hm? It took you so long to find it!”
“Jay? You did this? Why!” Jungwon said and cried out. “Because I love you and Sunoo was in the way!” He yelled out and grabbed Jungwon’s face. “You’re insane…” He said softly. “Oh really? I’m insane? Jungwon open your eyes! I’ve always been by your side yet you always talk about Sunoo.” He shouted and threw Jungwon against the wall causing the younger to cry out in pain. “You’re a monster!” Jungwon screamed and stood up. “I will never love you the way you love me! I hate you!” Jungwon screamed.
This caused Jay to grow more and more mad. In a fit of rage, he shoved Jungwon closer to the ledge. “H-hyung what are you doing!” He said and tried to push Jay off him. Jay didn’t notice the ledge and accidentally pushed Jungwon against the rotting wood which caused him to fall.
Jungwon screamed in fear as his body hit the ground. Jungwon cried in pain as he felt his consciousness fade. Before he passed out, he heard sirens blaring and a voice yell. “I know you’re in there! Put your hands in the air! You are under arrest for the murder of Kim Sunoo 4 years ago and the attempted murder of Yang Jungwon.” Jay sighed in defeat and approached the police officer and gave himself up.
Jungwon was rushed to hospital and was miraculously saved by the doctors but he had slipped into a coma-like state. In his dreams, Jungwon was with Sunoo on a beach. “You finally found the truth behind my death…but it caused you to get hurt too…” Sunoo said and placed his hand on Jungwon’s. “It was scary hyung…falling like that.” He said and hugged Sunoo. “I don’t wanna leave you…” Jungwon said and started crying.
“If you join me, you’ll die.” Sunoo said and bit his lip. “We’ll meet again soon Wonie, I promise. Now please wake up, okay? You’re scaring your mother. I love you my baby, We’ll meet again soon.” Sunoo said and gently kissed Jungwon’s lips. Jungwon woke up a few minutes later with tears streaming down his face.
“We’ll meet again soon baby…I love you…” Jungwon said softly and smiled to himself.
