Chapter Text

Maybe it was the early morning panic, the oh shit moment when you realise your late. The grabbing any clothing that your eyes lay upon first. That's where the day went- is wrong the right word. If anyone asked Sapnap would be inclined to say yes but was it wrong.

Confusing….. enlightening…. Maybe even right. It's funny how one choice in clothing could turn Sapnaps' world upside down. A mess if you will, but was it better then what would be referred to as normal. Everything Sapnap had- no tried to ignore. Sapnap often turned a blind eye to.

The lust filled glances HIS boyfriend would make at other people. Ignoring the protectiveness over phones while Sapnap only wished it wasn't what he thought it was. It's just all in your head, he loves you, you should trust him more.

The self deprecating spirals of your not good enough, it's your fault. Maybe it was…. Not that Sapnap would ever say that out loud tho.

Or maybe Sapnap should have stopped putting up with his boyfriend's toxic behaviors a long time ago.

___begining of day____

"Gimme a second please." Sapnap yelled, listening until he got a quiet ok from the other side of the front door. He continued his panicked search for car keys and clothing. Although this never were to happen if his alarm would have just went off. Was it possible for phones to hate a person cause if so the feelings mutal, stupid fucking phones. Why can't alarms just go off at proper times?

"Siri, what's the time?'' Sapnap sighed, trying to multitask while grabbing a pair of black jeans and a hoodie. It was a cool fall day, sun barely peeking out from the grayish clouds. So a hoodie would be the best option.

"I searched the web, there are 30 calories in a lime" I swear to god this pho- "are you just gonna glare at your phone, you know it can't hurt you Sap." Sapnap rolled his eyes, as he shifted his gaze to the tall frame situated right outside the doorway. "Shut up" the blonde just laughed before asking the brunette to

"Let your fucking boyfriend in before he breaks the door bell" chuckling lightly, with fresh clothes on and car keys he jogged to the door. It was short hellos before making their way down to the car, nothing knew. The short sentences are always on his phone, it was fine right?

Sapnaps' boyfriend was nice enough, although the jealousy and secrecy Sapnap could definitely live without. The funny thing is everything would have been fine that day if not for one of their shared friends pointing it out. Bring what his boyfriend didn't even blink an eye at him to notice, into the light. Although sapnap really couldn't pass blame, it wasn't his fault.

It was that evening that the life changer words were said. "Who's sweatshirt is that, I've never seen you wear it?" It was a simple sentence really, but that was just the start of the chain of events that put sapnaps life into the chaos and confusion that it is now. It honestly slipped his mind, sapnap really never even realised it.

The hoodie wasn't his, it was the blonde's. Who also was usually the target of his boyfriend's jealous rampage. Dream who never really liked his boyfriend. While his boyfriend never really liked Dream.

It shouldn't have been a big deal, but looking up at the jealous fuzzed gaze his boyfriend had sent his direction made Sapnap feel like he did something wrong. It was a misunderstanding really. An accident of rushed mornings and mixed laundry. Even knowing that it wasn't his fault sapnap still could shake the guilt. And feared as the two of them got back into the vehicle.

The silence was awkward as they drove through the city. But why should it matter, why should he get to be jealous and possessive while he didnt even notice. Maybe if he wasn't busy smiling at his phone he would have.

"Why do you have on Dream's sweatshirt?" The words were dark and reeked with jealousy. "Why does it matter?" At this point Sapnap was just about fed up. This wasn't the first time something like this has happened. Honestly Sapnap didn't even know why he was in the relationship. If you could call it that. "Sapnap" the tone was a warning- scary even.

"I was rushing out this morning and I grabbed it without realizing it wasn't mine. The laundry must have gotten mixed up or something," ''That's bullshit" the anger was apparent in his voice, paired with an eye roll. "What do you mean bullshit?" Should it really matter that much?

"Just drive me home." Huffing Sapnap let the car fill with silence again. Luckily the other house wasn't that far away so the suffocatingly awkward silence didn't last long.

___

Maybe it was his fault maybe he was over acting and his boyfriend had a right to be mad- no no no, he was the one who was taking to other people, sapnap had even seen the messages himself. This is exhausting, sapnap thought.

As curious glances from across the living room, became questioning eyes from across the kitchen. Sapnal was finally broken from his thoughts.

"What hapend?" him and his roommate weren't close, friendly sure. But this was something that rarely happend. Runing tired hands through his hair, sapnap said the next sentence to feed the chain of events.

"Why didnt u tell me I was wearing your sweatshirt?" The words were filled with tiredness and a little hint of frustration.

Although the blondes stupid pretty lips just formed a smirk. While sapnap playfully rolled his eyes. "Why was that my responsibility."

Sapnal barley even registered his roommate starting to wonder closer. To caught up in the flirtation tone. His roommate was attractive, anyone could see that, and sure they play flirted but that still couldn't explain the butterflies overtaking the boy's stomach, or the slight blush that bloomed over the brunette's face. "I-its not but it still would have been nice, cause now my boyfriends mad at me." The smug face stayed as he infected the other personal space. "Did you tell him the truth?" The words were somewhat taunting as he continued. "Let me guess he didn't believe you, I'm I that intimidating?" The blonde was only getting closer eventually setting his hands on the counters on either side of sapnap. Caging the other in. "I-"

"It wasn't my job to tell you, you were wearing my hoodie, it was your boyfriends." They were still, what could be a platonic amount of space between them. But that didn't stop sapnaps face from heating up and his heart beat to beat out of his chest from the closeness. "He did you dumbass."

"Yeah? And when did he notice, It definitely wasn't when you guys talked in the door, so was it in the car." The blonde was smirking, with a glint of mischief in those emerald eyes. Which were now looking the other up and down.

It made sapnap feel vulnerable, exposed yet being fully clothed. But sapnaps silence spoke for him. Leaning down so the blonde's mouth was inline with the others ear, the blonde spoke quietly. "I would have noticed the second I laid eyes on you." That was it, the blonde made eye contact before going to walk back to the living room.

"H-hey don't u want u hoodie back?" Even his voice sounded flustered. But as dream looked back, sapnap bit his lip.

"No it looks good on you." One more up and down gaze on the others body, and just like that, the stupid blonde with the to pretty smirk was out of sight back on the couch.

Fuck, he better not be falling for his roommate. Sapnap thought as he made his way to his own room. Now sapnaps not one to nap during the day, but honestly between barely getting any sleep and his confusing day. Sapnap is tempted.

You know what fuck it.

_______

He doesn't know how long he slept, but was definitely annoyed by the anything but patient doorbell and knocks on his door. "Your stupid boyfriend is here, can you please go get the door?"

Sapnap frowned at the tone, if Sapnap was not half asleep he could maybe recognize the jealousy laced between his words. Getting up, he made his way to the door quickly while Dream made his way over to the couch again.

"Hi." Sapnap said first, trying to keep his annoyance level to the minimum.

"Hi, can we talk?" The other replied, letting himself in before the other could respond. "Sure." Sapnap sighed. Following the other further into the house, he was met with the second suffocating silence of the day, as the all too pretty blonde and his supposed boyfriend had a glaring contest. Sapnap was about to offer they go into his room so Dream could stay in the living room, but before he could suggest the idea his boyfriend beat him to it.

"Could you please leave? I need to talk to my boyfriend." As the words left the other's mouth, Sapnap glared while his boyfriend's gaze shifted to glare at sapnap instead.

"No, it's ok, we can go to my room." Sapnap said, frustration getting more apparent in the brunette's voice. "No, it's ok, I was just going to go to my room anyway." The blonde said, catching the attention of the other two. As Dream made their way past the other two, he stopped.

"Nice hoodie by the way." And he fucking winked. Now both their faces were red from the blonde, Sapnap's was covered in a blush while the other was flushed with anger. As the blonde walked out smirking, Sapnap was forced to turn to his boyfriend. As a loud sigh was heard from beside him his boyfriend finally spoke up.

"I think we should break up." "Best idea you've ever had." The look that he got was nothing short of hurt until Sapnap continued. "The relationship I planned on was built for two, apparently you didn't get the message." And in a split second, hurt and anger turned to guilt.

"Sap i-"

"No I don't wanna hear it, I'm done and you don't get to be jealous when we both know the reason the sweatshirt had to be pointed out by someone else before you noticed." The brunette didn't even realise that tears were starting to run down his face.

"I'm sorry Sap."

" Was I not good enough?" Sapnap whispered.

"What did I do?" The silence was heartbreaking as Sapnap tried desperately to stop the tears.

"No, no, I'm sorry, I was an idiot." "Just leave please" the other nodded, whispering a couple more apologies before turning to leave.

As Sapnap slipped down the wall, he barely recognized the sound of the front door closing. Or his breathing turning more rapid. Tears blurred the boy's vision as he could barely hear rushed footsteps coming closer. Only when strong arms were wrapped around him, pulling Sapnap further into the other's chest, did he realise it was Dream.
