“KABEDON!”
Kazuya startles as his back hits the brick wall behind him, his vision suddenly filling with the sight of his boyfriend’s familiar face.
“Kabedon!” Eijun exclaims again, high cheekbones alight with a blush.
Eijun’s hand rests over Kazuya’s shoulder, pinky brushing Kazuya’s ear as he leans in, reminding Kazuya of just how broad he’s become over the years. Kazuya blinks, glancing between Eijun’s outstretched arm and his pretty irises. “Uh,” Kazuya says, trying to figure out what the hell Eijun keeps saying. “Kabedon?”
Eijun frowns, ruddy lips pouting distractingly. They’ve only been dating for five months, but Kazuya has always found Eijun’s mouth distracting - the way it stretches into a smile, the way it wobbles when he gets emotional.
“Haven’t you ever read any manga, Miyuki Kazuya?” Eijun asks, sounding exasperated , like he doesn’t know why he puts up with Kazuya’s antics. How ironic. “Kabedon is when the hot guy does the whole slam thing with his hand against the wall to box the girl in!” he explains, waving his arms emphatically. “It’s supposed to make you swoon! ”
Kazuya blinks.
Then, he laughs.
He doesn’t mean to, tries to stop it, the mirth that bubbles up at the back of his throat. He tries to stop it from escaping his mouth and tumbling into the space between them. He tries to stop himself from leaning into Eijun as his amusement takes him over, fingers curling in Eijun’s sweater, head falling to Eijun’s shoulder.
But he does a poor job at it.
“Oh my God,” Kazuya says as he pulls back, cheeks aching from laughter, heart thudding with deep, insatiable affection, endeared beyond words. “You’re such a dork. God, I love you.”
This time, Eijun blinks.
Then, he squawks.
“You - you - you, what?” Eijun soutters, going red all the way to the tips of his ears. “You can’t just - that’s the first time - oh my God.”
Eijun ducks his head into his palms and straight into Kazuya’s chest, and that’s when Kazuya realizes what he’s said.
“Fuck - I didn’t - I didn’t mean - I mean, I did mean - I do mean - I just - shit.” Kazuya tentatively reaches up to wrap an arm around Eijun’s waist. “Um.” He pauses, ears tingling with embarrassment. “Are you, uh. Are you hiding because you’re happy or, um, because - you’re - not?”
Eijun sniffles into his hands and Kazuya’s heart leaps into his throat. He’s only granted a moment of panic before Eijun lifts his head, eyes shining with tears and emotion. “Are you dumb,” Eijun deadpans at the same time he cups Kazuya’s jaw, leaning in close. “Of course I’m happy - you - you - ugh.”
He kisses Kazuya there, lips wet and nose running, cheeks hot and blunt nails digging into Kazuya’s jaw, anchoring him, grounding him, leading him. It’s messy and by far not one of their best kisses, but it makes Kazuya’s shoulders relax, makes his arms curl around Eijun more firmly, pulling him in as he leans back against the wall.
Eijun coils his arms around Kazuya’s neck when he pulls away. “Saying I love you for the first time is supposed to be romantic, Miyuki Kazuya,” he sniffles, threading his fingers through Kazuya’s hair. “Don’t you know anything?”
Kazuya swallows. He wants to kiss Eijun again. And again. And again, six times over. One hundred. Two hundred. “You were kabedon-ing me or whatever,” he retorts, clearing his throat. “Isn’t that romantic?”
Eijun rolls his eyes, but his lips quirk up. “No. Romantic is candles and matching bracelets and flowers,” he mumbles, shifting on his feet. “I want a real confession later, you hear me? One with all the romantic things.”
Kazuya laughs again, fingering Eijun’s waist. Every time he thinks he can’t fall any further for this man, he does. It’s ridiculous, really. Kazuya will never escape. “Okay,” he agrees easily. “But… only if you - you know. Return the favor…?”
Eijun tilts his head like he’s only just realized that he hadn’t said I love you back to Kazuya. “Oh,” he says, and then he smiles, wide and vibrant, and Kazuya’s affection triples. “I feel that way, too! But I’m only going to say those words after I romance you properly!” he declares, leaning in for a full-mouthed kiss. “I’m going to romance you so hard, Miyuki Kazuya!”
Kazuya’s heart skips.
He smiles. “I look forward to it.”
