Chapter Text
It was Friday, and also the last day of my last year of high school. I was desperate to get the day over with and to head into summer; there was just so much to look forward to.
But there was just one problem; I was so excited for the last day of school to be over that I couldn't sleep. The time was kinda sorta maybe 3 AM. And I was kinda sorta maybe not the slightest bit tired.
The trees outside cast a shadow on the wall above my bed. I lay there, watching their silhouettes dancing on the plaster and playing with my hair, as I thought about all of the endless potential that the summer had in store. Literally anything could happen.
As I daydreamed about all of the things that could happen, I felt my eyes getting heavy, and slowly but surely drifted off to sleep.
I woke up a few hours later, groggy yet motivated to get up and move. I just can't believe that it's the last day of high school...
I went through my morning routine in a daze, deep in my thoughts. As a straight-A student, it felt like I had spent all of my life up to this point dedicating my everything to doing my absolute best in school. I had recently applied for multiple universities, and surprisingly, had gotten into all of them, including my dream university. On top of this, I was surrounded by an amazing group of friends, who all cared sincerely for me.
Yet, it felt there was still something missing from my life. As much as I was proud of all of the achievements I had made up to that point, and felt fulfilled by my loving, caring friends, there was some deeper part of me that was left empty-handed.
It's probably love or some other cliche shit, I concluded, before putting on my headphones and getting on the train to get to school.
