Work Text:
“Peter Parker,” Tony groaned.
Oh, no. Tony rarely called him by his name, it was always something like kid or underoos, let alone his full name. It couldn’t be a good thing. Sure enough, his expression was closed off and his hands seemed to be holding a phone pretty tightly.
“What is it, dad?”
Peter added the last word with the hope that it would brighten Tony’s humor. It usually worked, as they only recently had fully recognized their bond and started addressing each other as dad/son.
“Care to explain why there’s a picture of you hanging out with Harry Osborn?” Tony asked darkly, unlocking his phone to show it to him.
Peter was already used to being photographed when he was Spider-Man, but he still hadn’t come around with the fact that people want to take a picture of Peter Parker-Stark doing nothing, to Flash’s dismay. But he should’ve guessed that this would happen, because Harry had been photographed quite a few times this week too. It was what had alerted Peter that his long-lost friend was back in New York, after all.
Still, Peter had hoped that nobody had noticed the two heirs to billionaires' companies hanging out in the middle of a park in broad daylight together. He was optimistic like that. Sue him.
“What? Do you follow gossip sites now?” Peter asked, trying to buy himself some time to answer his dad’s question.
“Don’t try to change the subject, kid”.
Peter stared at Tony for a second. He looked serious and not very willing to let this go. Defeated, he tried to think the best way to explain his relationship with Harry to his dad — something the boy had hoped to never had to do, but his luck was against him, once more.
“You see, there’s a little thing that I forgot to mention”.
“And that is…?”
“I used to be really close with the Osborn family?”
“What the hell, Underoos”.
Tony put a hand at his head, wondering what he had done to deserve this. Fine, he hadn’t been perfect, but to his son to be close to his rival company? And not to mention that it was the same one responsible for leaving a modified spider around.
“My dad worked for Osborn Industries, you see. I used to spend some time with him at the labs and he knew Norman too. They worked together a lot, actually. So, sometimes Norman also brought Harry along. And they had dinner at my house?”
For a second, Tony stared at him with a blank face. Then, he let out a defeated sound.
“I can’t believe that I could’ve become a parent of any child in the world and I chose the one that is friend with my enemies”.
“Are you sure you’re not overacting? Cause I think you’ve got a lot of real enemies,” Peter pointed out.
Tony gave him a displeased look.
“Please, tell me you’re not really friends with Harry Osborn anymore”.
“No, I think that now that he is back, we’ll spend a lot of time together,” Peter said thoughtfully. It had been so nice to see Harry again; they had reconnected in a way he never believed that they could. As strange as it was, for a second Peter felt like they had never even stayed apart, even if there were years missing between them. “By the way, I was hoping I could invite Harry to our Friday dinner with Aunt May and Happy?”
“Fine, he can come. But please tell me right now if you have any other hide friendship that I should be worried about”.
“You see, now that you ask…”
Tony already regretted asking such a stupid question. Peter was a trouble magnet, after all, much like himself.
“Just say it”.
“I’m kind of friends with Loki?”
Tony laughed. He knew he was going crazy because there was no way that his son had managed to befriend the mischief god, the one that kept everyone away (and stabbed people a lot). Even Peter wasn’t that insane.
“I’m sorry, I thought you said you’re friends with Loki”.
“Oh, look at the time! I have to go or I’ll miss the movie with Harry, bye!”
“HEY, KID! Come back here!”
