Work, Eat, Sleep

Summary:

Aang and Katara's vacation can't come soon enough. For kataang week 2021 prompt: tease

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

“I should really get back to work,” Aang murmured to her neck. He pried his hands off of her and sulked back to his office.

Tomorrow they were heading to Ember Island for a week together, alone, with no territory disputes to resolve and no spirit world conflicts to mediate. Just the two of them and no agenda. Just one more day until then, and they’d have a break from the constant work, eat, sleep.

Katara had wrapped up her duties at the clinic early, and was trying to keep busy by packing. Aang was trying to finish reading proposals at home, but he was fully checked out. His mind was already at the beach, among other places.

That was the third time he’d found an excuse to leave his office to tell her something, and the third time he’d gotten carried away touching her before remembering how much he still had to wrap up. And it wasn’t even lunch time yet.

Katara tied her own pack shut and opened up Aang’s to begin packing for him. As she folded one of his tunics, she heard his light footsteps approaching again.

He stopped in the doorway and grinned at her. “Hey Katara, since you’re home, would you be willing to figure out lunch for me today? I was thinking it could help me concentrate if I don’t have to go get food or cook something.”

Katara smirked and bit back a laugh. It was cute that he thought the procurement of food was to blame for his distraction. “Sure, Aang. How about dumplings from that stand across the bay?”

He stepped closer and grabbed her at the waist. “That sounds incredible. Thank you so much, Sweetie.” He leaned down to give her a peck on the lips.

But then he didn’t pull away, and his lips lingered on hers. She laughed to herself. Round four.

He brushed his lips softly against hers, dragging them past to her jaw. His hands reached down to caress her hips, one hand moving past to grab her ass. She sighed and leaned into him, pressing her body against his.

He pulled away, but kept his hands on her. “Spirits, I can’t get caught up with this. I really need to get back to work,” he grumbled.

Katara smiled warmly and raised her hand to cup his cheek. Then she pushed her hips back into him again, feeling the slight bulge forming in his pants.

She raised her eyebrows. “Do you?”

His nails bit into her and he hid his face in the crook of her neck. After a moment and a heavy breath he pulled away again, chuckling. He looked her in the eye and smoke curled out from his nose, out through his teeth as he grinned. “I do, and you’re wicked.”

He turned to saunter off. The absence of his hands felt almost frigid, burning as he was for her.

She lost patience. She snatched his arm before he left the room, her fingers clutching his bicep in a vice grip. He turned to her, feeling the way her touch made him want more.

Katara set her jaw and looked up at him as if he were beneath her. “Get some work done while I’m gone getting lunch,” she ordered. She pulled him down to press her lips to his ear and whispered, "When I come back, you’re going to eat."

Notes:

Loosely based on a true story that I told to the dungeon and then mooninglight demanded that it become a fic. I wrote this in like an hour with some adjustments over the course of the day. (that is to say... I'm not neglecting Lion Turtle for these drabbles because they happen when I'm supposed to be working and I take a bit of a break LOL)

Like kataang in this, I am just W A I T I N G for my vacation to happen, and I am looking forward to having more time off to work on some more CONTENT.

Also this was totally impulsive but it technically fits the Saturday kataang week prompt "tease", so I'll just sneak it into the tags and collection on the actual day of that prompt.
