Chapter Text

“Ha! Killed my copy” said Raze, putting down her gun.

It was still weird to see herself dead, but she was getting over it. At least it was easy to know she was the enemy. Especially when it comes to Reyna, it can get quite hard to tell the difference when both look equally mean. Killjoy, on the other hand, was easy to tell. The other Killjoy always seemed nicer.

“Did you see that?” Raze asked.

“Have you found the spike?” asked Viper.

Raze rolled her eyes. It had been a fantastic kill, though. The enemy Raze was mid air. She shot her right in the center of her forehead. Phoenix would cheer with her. But Phoenix was with Killjoy, on the other side of the city.

“No, it’s not with Raze, it’s never with Raze, her team never lets her keep the bomb”

“I wonder why” said Viper, in her modified voice behind the mask, before walking away. “Keep your eyes up,” the leader told her, “and let us know if you find the spike. It’s probably with their Killjoy. Find her. And don’t let her robots find you first.”

Raze frowned and stuck her tongue out when Viper turned her back. Then shook her head and started walking away, towards their landing area. Funny how she had always wanted to see the world when she was little, thinking she’d always stay exactly where she was born, but now here she was.

Standing on a piece of floating rock that used to be Venice.

She really shouldn’t let her guard down in the middle of a mission so important. But the sight from up there was really something.

Raze turned the volume in her headphones up, humming along with the music, just vibing, when she thought she had heard some crying.

She pulled one of the speakers away from her ear to hear it better. Definitely some crying.

Curious, she walked towards the noise. It was coming from a small garden nearby. From there it was obvious that it was Killjoy crying. Now Raze wasn’t sure if this was enemy Killjoy. But she could guess. She couldn’t imagine her Killjoy crying.

“Sage? Sage! Do you copy? Are you listening? Sage!” cried Killjoy, trying to communicate. They had taken down their frequency, so they couldn’t hear each other. It was now obvious and beyond doubt that this was mirror Killjoy.

But she was crying. And it’s not like Raze could ignore that.

Raze loaded her gun. She had to kill her. There was a package with her that was obviously the spike, so another reason. But she was crying.

“Sage, please, can you hear me?” she sobbed, her tears all over her face.

“Killjoy?” Raze called, her voice failing.

This was so wrong. Great, now Raze was the one who was going to be kil…

“Raze!” Killjoy screamed, and then threw herself over Raze.

By instinct, Raze pulled out her knife, thinking that the other was going to try and kill her. But no, it was a hug. Just a hug.

“She thinks I’m mirror Raze,” she thought, “shit shit shit shit this is bad. Just kill her, just do it, just kill her right now, you have the knife, just kill her.”

“I was looking for Sage to revive you,” said Killjoy, before cupping Raze’s face in both her hands. “Why did you risk yourself so much? You just flew right into them! Why do you always do such stupid things? What if Sage wasn’t here?”

This was a huge mix of Killjoy and definitely not Killjoy. Raze was paralyzed. Killjoy, for one, never hugged her during a mission. But she did call her stupid quite a few times. The fact that she was holding her with so much intimacy, so close from her face, made the Brazilian's mind hazy and confused. They were pretty close friends, best friends, but that intimacy was not what she was used to. Amazing how she still looked pretty even with her face melting in tears and so up close.

“I can’t get used to this,” said Killjoy, “I always think I’ve lost you”.

The distance between them was so small that in order to kiss her, Killjoy barely moved.

It was out of nowhere, but at the same time, it wasn’t. It was a surprise for Raze, but Killjoy didn’t act like this would surprise her. It was messy, since she was still crying a lot. She felt her own face get soaked in the other one’s tears. They were warm, but they felt cold in contrast with Raze’s hot blushed cheeks. She was shivering all over, and the whole world seemed colder when compared to how hot, in and out, Raze felt. The only warmth seemed to be coming from Killjoy’s lips. But it was enough to light her on fire. Soft and delicate, a bit salty from her tears, it made Raze’s shoulder relax, releasing a tension that she didn’t realize she was holding. And the engineer knew so well how to make their bodies fit, like they had done this a thousand times and more. Like they had done more than kisses

Raze’s heart was beating to the fast rhythm of all the songs she loved after it recovered from slowing down to the point it felt like time had stopped.

It was not their first kiss. Mirror Raze would’ve expected that kiss. It was clear by how Killjoy just gave into it. How she acted like this was normal. But Raze wouldn’t have expected even the tears to begin with.

Perhaps the idea of pushing her away should’ve crossed her mind, but it didn’t. She just returned the kiss, trying not to let any sound out as she tasted the other’s tongue. And this went on for quite a while. It wasn’t a short kiss by any means. More like a desperate kiss that became a near make out kiss. She was starting to feel Killjoy’s hand begin to explore when they were interrupted.

“Killjoy?”

Killjoy and Raze jumped away from each other. Her Sage wasn’t on this mission, so definitely enemy Sage.

But the two of them had more problems than Sage.

Mirror Raze was right there. Alive. Shocked and pale. Not from coming back to life. From seeing their kiss.

“I’m gonna head out.”

Raze quickly stole the bag Killjoy was carrying, and with her remaining explosives, boosted her way out of there. She knew the other Raze didn’t have any left. None of them could get her. Though they could still shoot her. And that was what Sage did. Lucky for her, she only had a shotgun, so she only got a scrape on her arm. The other two didn’t even aim at her.

Raze could bet they were in for a long discussion. There was a lot to unpack here. If she had no idea where to begin with, the three who stayed behind had even less of a clue of what to do about the incident.

But for now, Raze would have to consider the idea of telling Killjoy about it.

Notes:

So now Raze has to tell Killjoy about this, uh.
