Work Text:
It started innocently enough. Izuku had woken up later than normal, missing his morning run in the process. As he lightly muttered swears under his breath, haphazardly getting ready for class he realized that he would not have time to eat breakfast. 'Oh well' he thought, 'one day without breakfast won't be that bad'.
That is, until one day became 1 week, and 1 week became two.
On the third week of Midoriya's missing breakfast, Bakugou called him out.
"Ay shitty deku!" Midoriya stopped walking out of the dorms as Bakugou roughly grabbed his shoulder. "Yeah Kacchan? What's wrong?"
Midoriya stared at his childhood friend, taking note of the worried look in his eyes, though he would never admit to it.
"WHAT'S WRONG?! I'VE NOT SEEN YOU EAT BREAKFAST IN FOUR FUCKING WEEKS!"
Bakugou's words echoed throughout the dorms and so did the following silence.
"We've got to get to class Kacchan." Midoriya walked off without saying another word, leaving a shell-shocked Bakugou in the dust.
------------
Around the middle of his third week without eating in the morning Midoriya stopped eating lunch. The hunger he had begun to feel early in the morning's had turned into a numbness that he liked.
He absolutely hated himself for liking it.
He had stopped eating in the morning's to save time so he could train more, but after a while it began to hurt his stomach to eat anything other than a bite of a banana or half of a protein shake.
So after a while, he just stopped eating. Water filled him up with the same feelings he would get from eating katsudon, just without the taste.
After a while it had begun to hurt him to eat lunch, so he cut that as well.
"What are you eating for lunch Deku?" Asked Ururaka, smiling.
Midoriya awkwardly rubbed his shoulder, then responded "I'm not really hungry today."
"Midoriya! As a hero in training, I highly recommend you eat something!" Iida reprimanded
"I already told you I'm not hungry!" Midoriya exploded finally, walking off leaving his friends worried and confused.
This went on for weeks, and Midoriya began getting thinner and thinner, his cheeks becoming almost as sunken in as his idol's.
--------
Around two months in, Midoriya passed out in the middle of training. He hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch in weeks, and would eat barely anything at dinner. The teachers and his fellow classmates had asked him about his not eating multiple times and he had always responded with an 'I'm not hungry'. When he passed out, he was immediately sent to recovery girl where he was told he needs to eat.
On his walk back from the office he told himself he needs to eat breakfast. He began eating breakfast again for about a week, until one day he found he needed a little more time to train. 'One day,' he told himself. 'Just one day'...
