On Dragon's Wings: Dream Transforms

Summary:

It was just a normal day, walking over to George's house to hangout with his friends. He wasn't supposed to be abducted. He wasn't supposed to be experimented on and he most certainly wasn't meant to turn into a Dragon.

Notes:

Hello!
So this is a rewrite of my old fic I did back in November. Hope you all enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Dream’s head throbbed as he tried to regain consciousness. His entire body felt weak and his breath was ragged. He tried to open his eyes, but was only met with the view of a sack draped over his head. His ears were still buzzing but sound started to come back to him. His fingers started to get feeling back in them. He pulled with his arms only to find that they were strapped down. What the hell was happening? He needed to remember.

He clenched his eyes close as he tried to put together the pieces in his jumbled up brain.

He was walking over to George’s house. They were planning on hanging out, George, Sapnap and him. Maybe to play Uno like they usually do, or watch a horror movie that ended with George wrapped up in ten blankets like the baby he was.

But it didn’t go as planned. On his way walking over, he remembered seeing a car pull over near him and when he walked past it, a bunch of men wearing black came out and jumped him, stabbing something into his neck that knocked him out. He tried so hard to fight back, to get the kidnappers off of him. He even tried to dial or even text George, just trying to get a single message to either of his friends. Everything was futile. The kidnappers took his phone and whatever they stabbed him with was already causing his eyes to droop close. He tried to yell and scream, but his arms fell heavy next to his sides, his eyelids felt like heavy weights, his legs grew numb, the words died in his throat, his heart rate settled and he was pulled into a deep sleep.

He was stuffed into the car going God knows where and now he’s finally regained consciousness. This was turning out to be a great day, wasn’t it?

“Sir, he’s waking up.” A female voice said, sounding like a megaphone to Dream. He cringed slightly, but shook his head and pushed the pain aside. He needed to find out where he was, what these people wanted to do with him, then leave as soon as possible. He was going to be a bit traumatized after this.

He lifted his head up, still covered by the bag that was tied around his neck.

“Good.” a male voice answered. “I want him to be awake for this.”

What the hell were they planning on doing? What did they need him for? This was going to be great .

“How are his vitals?” the same male voice asked. His voice was deep and demanding and sent chills up Dream’s arms. He shivered as if a cool breeze just whipped by.

He tried to pull on his restraints, but his arms and legs were tied down. There was no way he was getting out of them.

“His vitals are fine.” the first voice responded. “His heart rate is a bit fast, but that’s to be expected.”

Dream tried to steady his heavy breathing. He tried to make sense of where he was.

He could hear the clanking of metal and the sound of shoes stepping on the ground. That wasn’t exactly helpful, that could literally be heard anywhere. His plan was getting him nowhere.

“And his health?” Dream heard the man step closer to him and he could see the faint outline of this guy through the bag.

“Perfectly healthy. A good amount of muscles. He’s the perfect candidate.”

“Then let’s get on with the show.”

The bag was ripped off of Dream’s head and he cringed slightly at the blinding lights that shined down on him. It was like staring directly into the sun.

He finally looked up and got a good view on who took him. They looked like a bunch of scientists. A lot of people dressed up in white lab coats with goggles tied up on their heads. He looked around him and saw big machines that he could make nothing of and vials and flasks all laid out on tables surrounding him.

He struggled again, but the rope cut deep into his skin, causing bruises to form on his wrists and ankles.

He tried to keep the tears out of his eyes as he looked up at the demanding, bulky man that stood in front of him. His stature was of a man in charge. He had a slight frown on his face. Dream didn’t get the exact feeling that this guy was nice.

“Hello there.” The man cooed. Dream spit in his face, causing the man to recoil back.

“What the hell do you want with me!?” Dream snarled, baring his teeth at the man.

The man slowly brought his finger up to wipe the spit from his face. He glared at Dream before his frown turned into a smile. Dream’s angry and determined face turned into one of confusion. He even chuckled! Who would chuckle!?

“I like you.” the man nodded. “You have guts. I need that for my experimentation.”

“Experimentation?” Dream repeated. “What experiment? What the hell do I have to do with any of this?”

“It’s a test of sorts.” The man stood back up, away from Dream. “Something of great science.”

Dream’s brain seemed to have halted. Experiment? He’s an experiment for a test. What were they testing? Why him out of all people? Was he just in the wrong place at the wrong time? Or were they stalking him for some time now? He couldn’t make sense out of anything. He was just a normal guy, living a normal life, playing video games whenever he could. This has to be fake. This couldn’t be real.

His thoughts were interrupted when he looked up and noticed another woman in a lab coat come near him with a syringe. The syringe was quite big and the needle was too, something Dream would never want to get stabbed with. In the syringe, there was a purple glowing liquid that sloshed around as she made her way over to him.

Dream’s heart started beating faster and faster and the machine beeped faster along with it.

He tried to back up and get away, but the chair rendered him immobile.

“Get away from me!” Dream yelled, trying his best to struggle and get out of the restraints. The woman stepped closer and Dream couldn’t focus on anything else except for the syringe coming ever closer to him.

“Stop! Please!”

Dream was struggling so much, throwing his head in every direction to try and get out. Two men ran up and gripped onto Dream’s shoulders shoving him back into the chair to keep him as still as possible. Dream didn’t stop struggling though, kicking his legs and trying to rip his arms from where they were tied. His breath was ragged and his brain felt like it was going a hundred miles an hour.

The woman bent down and brought the syringe close to his skin.

“No.” Dream pleaded, his voice weak from all the screaming.

She brought up a wipe and disinfected the area on his arm before she raised the needle. Dream struggled more, but more force was applied to his right arm and it fell, trapped.

She stabbed the needle into Dream’s arm and he held back a cry. He bit his lip so hard, blood started to pool around his teeth.

The scientist, ever so slowly, drove the plunger down with her thumb, driving the purple contents of the syringe into Dream’s veins and blood stream.

Dream started to breathe heavily as the contents flooded into his body. It burned. Oh hell it burned! It felt like his blood was on fire, burning him from the inside out. His fast beating heart transferred the serum to every part of his body in record time. Soon, every part of him felt on fire.

He opened his mouth and screamed at the top of his lungs as it felt like he was being torn from the inside out. The serum wrapped around his bones and drove needles into his limbs. His entire body was clenched tight and he yelled and screamed, struggling against everything holding him down.

He couldn’t see anymore, so he just shut his eyes and screamed in everlasting agony.

He growled in pain and screamed until his lungs ran out of breath.

“Move him!” the man yelled. “Quickly!”

He felt the restraints loosen and fall off his skin, but the world felt like it was spinning and Dream could barely make out anything. He bet if he stood up, he would fall straight down again.

There was sweat falling down his body and the people grabbing onto him had trouble trying to find a good place to hold him securely. It didn’t matter. It’s not like Dream could even do anything.

He was lifted from the chair, people holding him from all sides. They dragged him somewhere, but Dream didn’t know where. All he knew was the ever rising fire in his bones. He threw his head up and yelled. His body screamed in pain as the serum rushed through him entirely and started to make some changes like it was designed to.

He thrashed around, kicking his arms and legs and swinging his entire body to just get free.

Free. Free. Free.

His jaw clenched shut and it felt like something was grinding under his gums. He growled in pain as he felt something start to drive up and push his other teeth aside. Sharp fangs made their way up and found a new home along his jawline. He yelled and snarled, throwing his head back as his jaw decided to feel like a thousand rocks were dropped down on it.

He just wanted this pain to drift away in the wind. He just wanted to wake up and have this all be a terrible nightmare. This couldn’t be real. This couldn’t. It couldn’t.

He heard a large metal door open and soon, he was tossed onto a cold, concrete, hard floor.

He tried to get his footing and stand up, but his body waved and he tumbled back down before he could even get onto his feet.

The large metal door was slammed shut and soon, he was left to darkness; all alone.

He was dreaming. This was a dream. There was no way him, him of all people got abducted and experimented on. This was just a sick joke his brain was playing on himself. This wasn’t real. He would just wake up, in his house, and get ready to go to George’s. He wasn’t really here. He was at home, safe.

His thoughts were interrupted as pain shot through his skull. He gripped onto his hair and tugged and pulled, trying to get the pain to dissipate and hopefully get him to wake up.

He wasn’t really here. He couldn’t be.

His legs spazzed and he kicked them out, trying so hard to get them to work.

His skull felt like it was being smashed with rocks. It was splitting apart and some mountains of sorts were climbing up his skull, breaking the surface and twirling out of his hair. He shook his head, forcefully, begging to just wake up, but nothing was working. The little mountains on his head climbed higher and higher, applying a weight on Dream’s head that his hair could never match. The tips became pointy and sharp, as sharp as a needle that one slight prick would cause blood to spill.

He fell onto his stomach and reached his hand out, hoping to grab onto something that could help this agonizing pain disappear.

He just wanted to wake up.

Why wasn’t he waking up?

He yelled in pain as something shot through his fingers. Lightning struck his nerves as something grew on his hand as well. His fingers changed into sharp daggers. Black in color and rough in texture. He clenched his fists closed and the daggers dug deep into the skin of his palm, causing blood to blood and seep out. The same was happening to his feet. Knives shot out of his toes, ripping the fabric of his socks and shoes, making way for talons to dig into the ground, slicing into the concrete below and screeching as he dragged them down. He yelled in pain and slammed his fist into the ground.

Wake up wake up wake up.

He was so dizzy. His mind was spinning and he didn’t have enough strength to even stand up. He was crawling on the floor, begging anyone within the vicinity to help him, but the words were drowned down by his pain. He couldn’t even speak. His voice rubbed raw from the pure terror in his screams and his lungs heaving for a fresh breath of air. It felt like he couldn’t breathe.

He was covered in a pool of his own sweat. It caused his clothes to become wet and stick to his dying body. His hair clung to his face like seaweed.

Please wake up.

He felt his hips open and split, making way for something new and he threw himself back, cringing as he slammed into the ground and pain shot through his body. He threw his pelvis up, grinding the sharp claws, now a part of his hand, down into the concrete below. His tail bone grew and twisted and something poked out of his pants and snaked along the ground, growing and slamming into the surface as he yelled in pain once more.

Pain. Screaming. Terror.

“G-George!” Dream tried to call out. “S-S-Sapnap!” He growled as the serum made work of his body, changing it forever.

Please just stop.

His back ached and he rolled his shoulders to try and get it to stop, but he knew it was futile. He growled as he slammed his forehead into the ground. Tears spilled from his eyes and plopped from his cheeks onto the desolate ground beneath him.

He felt his scapula shift and he arched his back, trying to rid himself of the pain. He felt something poke out of his skin on his back and penetrate his shirt and it grew, much larger than anything else. He shook his back and shoulders as these new things took shape. His back felt like it was dying and Dream couldn’t agree more. He kicked his legs out, claws scraping the ground as the mounds on his back grew out wide. His shoulder blades shifted and cracked and the new part of him flapped as it took upon forming.

His ears were met with the familiar buzzing, but Dream doubted this buzzing and ringing would ever leave. He was just so tired.

The giant mountains on his back grew full size and he had the feeling to stretch them, so he did. He arched his back again as the new appendages flapped out and got used to the air.

He was suddenly having trouble staying up on his hands and knees and he felt himself teetering from left to right. His arms hit the ground and his knees soon followed after.

He hit the ground with an oomph, but he couldn’t feel anything anymore. His body and bones cracked as he tried to move and he winced and just decided laying down was best.

A fog settled over his mind and he found it harder to focus.

He felt little discs pierce his skin on his face, just along the bridge of his nose and along his cheeks under his eyes.

His breathing started to settle down as most of the pain dissipated. His heart beat was also slowing down faster then it should have, dragging him down into a deep sleep.

But he didn’t want to sleep. He needed to find George and Sapnap. He needed to get out of here. He needed to… he needed to…

What did he need to do?

He growled and it sounded nothing like a normal human. It was more animalistic. More… reptilian.

Get up. He needs to find…

Who did he need to find?

Gorge? Snap?

What were their names?

Why was it so hard to remember?

Dream’s body started to relax, but he felt like he couldn’t relax. He had something he needed to do. But what was it?

Everything was hot and heavy. He couldn’t move even if he wanted to.

But that's okay! He just wanted to sleep.

No wait. He had something he needed to do.

He had people waiting for him… right?

Inside his mind, it felt like walking through sludge. He was trudging through, trying to make sense of this jumbled mess, but nothing made sense. He just wanted to sleep.

He saw a fate glimpse of people. He didn’t know who they were. He didn’t remember.

The world melted and faded into black and Dream allowed it. He allowed the faint quick sand underneath his feet to swallow him up whole. He allowed the serum to change his mind and take away his memories, stashing them away, somewhere hidden where he may never find them again.

That was okay.

He just wanted to rest.

Dream let out a low growl as his body went lax and he was pulled into sleep. His tail curling up around him and his wings coming closer to his sides to keep him warm.

He was fine. This was fine. Everything was fine.

A door opened and a scientist, paired up with the man in charge, walked up to the cage where they placed the beast. Inside, there was the human they all saw earlier, only now he wasn’t fully human. Now, he had a tail wrapped around his legs, with two giant wings that sprouted out from his shoulders, with two twisted horns that penetrated the light with their shadowy colours, with claws and scales on his hands that replaced that human fingers he once had, with claws instead of toes with scales lining his feet as well, he also had little scales lining the bridge of his nose, and finally, his memory, which was replaced by natural instinct. The choices a dragon would make if they were out in the wild.

“Oh my gosh.” the scientist said, flabbergasted, holding a hand up to cover her mouth. “It worked.”

“It’s beautiful.” the man said, taking in his glorious creation.

Somewhere else, somewhere deep within the city, two friends sit on a couch. One staring out the window, waiting for any sign of his friend he invited and the other staring at the door, hoping that his tall, blonde friend would barge in soon.
