Work Text:
Jungkook is innocently scanning the cereal aisle, trying to choose between fruit loops and Cheerios, when he hears the PA system blare: “Jeon Jungkook, please come to the checkout counter, your parent is here.”
Jungkook freezes. Thinks, that can’t possibly be him-
“If anyone has seen,” the system continues. “A ‘beautiful boy in a blue button up shirt and a bunny smile with galaxy eyes’, please escort him to the checkout counter.”
“Oh my god,” Jungkook says faintly.
He’d only gotten separated from Taehyung for fifteen minutes.
“Again,” the PA system repeats the message, and by the end of it, Jungkook is flushed scarlet and hoping the ground can swallow him up.
When he does make it over to the checkout counter, he sees Taehyung, frantically scanning the distance until he spots him.
“Jungkook!” He cries, running up to him and throwing his arms around him. One would think Jungkook had been declared lost at war.
Jungkook sees the incredulous realization dawn in the store employee’s eyes that no, ‘Jeon Jungkook’ had not been, as they’d believed, Taehyung’s missing child, but a full grown man.
“Taehyung,” Jungkook hisses, hurriedly dragging him away. They need to leave the store, and never, ever come back. “Why would you use the PA system- they clearly thought I was your missing kid, or something!”
Taehyung huffs. “What else was I supposed to do, I lost you and you didn’t have your phone-“
Jungkook gives him a wild look. “Anything but a solution that makes it seem like they should be issuing an amber alert for me!”
Taehyung rolls his eyes. “You’re being dramatic-“
Jungkook scowls at him. Taehyung stops to give him an apologetic and unabashedly sweet smile, and Jungkook hates the way he can’t stay annoyed for long at this idiot. “You’re an idiot,” he still grumbles.
Taehyung kisses him. “Your idiot, though.”
With a smile he has to try very hard to suppress, Jungkook rolls his eyes. “How did you even get them to repeat that ridiculous description of yours-“
“Hey!” Taehyung protests. “It was the most accurate description of you I could think of; when they asked!”
“Galaxy eyes?” Jungkook says, incredulous. “Bunny smile?”
“Yes,” Taehyung says, entirely too seriously.
“You do realize, if you ever do lose a kid somewhere and you give that description, no one’s ever gonna be able to help you-“
Taehyung leans in then, cheesy grin and suggestive eyes, the ones that make Jungkook’s heart flutter stupidly, and says: “Better make sure I don’t lose our future kid when we have one then, won’t you?”
He walks away towards their parked car, leaving Jungkook red faced and stuttering by himself for a few seconds, before:
“Taehyung!” Jungkook shrieks. “What does that mean-“
Taehyung hides a smile as he unlocks their car, and shakes his head. If Jungkook hasn’t realized by now that he’s stuck with Taehyung forever - the whole nine yards, the marriage and house with a picket fence and kids and PTA meetings and minivans - then Jungkook’s the idiot, here, Taehyung thinks fondly.
