Four Days In Lanling

Summary:

Nie Huaisang looks at him. ‘You are confusing me, Clan Leader Jiang, perhaps I misunderstand, but…’

‘You didn’t misunderstand. You don’t misunderstand. You understand all of it.’ For six months Jiang Cheng has been mulling this over, and now with Nie Huaisang in front of him he can’t figure out if he most wants to knock him down or kneel at his feet. What he does is try and breathe. Clench his hands at his sides. ‘And now I am going to ask you to do something for me. You have to do something for me. You have to help Jin Ling.’

Notes:

I must apologise for (1) my extremely erratic Mandarin pronunciation and (2) the fact that this is just straight-up raw and unedited performance, complete with occasional background noises like purring or scampering cats and devices going ping.

I’m afraid that my ADHD brain is just not smiling upon the editing process, so I have reconciled myself to simple rough-and-ready recording up to my own lax standards of listenability, but I quite understand if you’d rather wait for a more polished production! I simply decided that it’s better to produce SOMETHING in these strange quarantine days than to be a perfectionist, and perhaps you might feel the same.

I absolutely adore this story beyond the telling of it, with its perfect characterisation and profoundly satisfying vision of this corner of canon and post-canon, and I hope perhaps you’ll enjoy the reading despite its flaws.
