Work Text:

Lisa woke up relatively late. Or what she expected to be late. Orange light tried it's best to stream in through the blinds of the low lit apartment. She felt movement by her feet and she bolted upright to see Twelve, sitting, opening a bottle of beer.

“ Ah, good morning Lisa!” Twelve greeted with his bright smile. “Or should I say good evening?”

“O-oh... yes, uh, good evening.” Her voice was groggy and her eyes still clouded over with sleep. Lisa got up, grabbed her toothbrush from her suitcase and headed to the bathroom.

“Heads up, Arata won't be back until late.” Twelve said as Lisa shuffled to the bathroom.

He took a swing of beer as she closed the door.

~~

Lisa sat on the seat of the toilet, head in her hands, as she replayed last night in her head. The airport, the bomb, the fall. It was all so fast paced and yet each memory felt agonizingly slow. She had lost her student ID card. No, someone took it from her. She knew it. It was so stupid of her to bring it to something like that. They could find her mother, or go to the school and see what kids were missing; the two boys including herself. The dots would be so easy for them to connect. They would be caught and it would be all her fault.

~~

Moments passed, and couple beers digested, Twelve was getting worried. It must have been at an hour. Lisa usually didn't spend that long in the bathroom. Maybe she fainted? Twelve knocked on the bathroom door louder than intended. “Lisa, you okay?” Twelve was a tad surprised by the slur in his voice.

“Hm? Y-yeah, I'm fine.” Lisa opened the door. “Sorry it took so long. I w-was thinking.” Her eyes fixated on the ground

Twelve swayed back to the couch, “Tell me about it.”

“Huh?”

“Tell me. About it. What you were thinking about? It must have been something pretty big for you to spend that much time in there.” His voice was upbeat as usual, if not a tad strung together. He guestured for Lisa to come sit on the couch. She sat on the other end of the couch, hands folded neatly on her lap.

“I lost it.” She paused, “My ID-”

“We know.” Twelve stated. “We looked through your stuff.”

“Oh... okay. So, you're going to kill me?” She started to fumble with her fingers.

“Why would I do that?” He took another sip from the bottle.

“B-because I made a mistake, a huge one. You could be caught and-”

“You have the prettiest voice, y'know that?”

Lisa looked at Twelve with a puzzled expression. “It's the palest yellow I've ever seen. Like, when you try to look at the sun but it's too bright. It appears white but you know it's yellow. That's your voice.”

“Hisami, I think you're drunk.”

“See there it is. A voice like the sun! Sunny voice, Lisa.”

Lisa sighed. She took the half filled bottle and chugged it down. It burned her throat as she did so.

“Now-” she coughed, “-you can't drink anymore.” Her nausea was suddenly replaced with the feeling of the room tilting. She had to hold on to the arm of the chair to keep her balance. “Oh dear.”

“Y'know,” Twelve slurred, “I like it when you call me Hisami. Do it more often. And laugh. You don't laugh much but when you do it's like, wow! So beautiful.”

Lisa couldn't help but laugh though she didn't know why. There was nothing funny.

“Ah there it is! The prettiest laugh I've ever heard!” Lisa could feel the blood rushing to her cheeks as she giggled. “And it seems that the prettiest laugh is drunk! You sure are a lightweight, Lisa.”

“What no I'm not! Does it even matter?”

“Well you're swaying like loose pole, I think you're a little tipsy.” Twelve chuckled. “Laugh more.”

“You can't force laughter. I-it won't be genuine.” Lisa smiled.

“So what would happen if I made you laugh?” He asked coyly. Before she could question what he meant he was already tickling her sides. Lisa squirmed and laughed, “There it is again! The sunny laugh!”

“Hi- Hisami! Stop! Aha, It tickles!” She squealed. She tried to cover her sides but the young terrorist would find a way through her hands. Lisa grabbed his arms and pulled him towards her. She kissed him. Both Twelve and Lisa froze. “Sorry.” Lisa said. “I- im so sorry. I-” Twelve covered her mouth with his.

“It's fine, Lisa. Everything will be fine. With the card, and you, and everything will be fine.” Twelve was a good liar. He enjoyed weaving stories and tales but as the words left his mouth, he could feel the alcohol burning his stomach.

“But I made a mistake a-and you said you would kill me.”

“I've thought about it. Ways of killing you.” Hisa leaned back and looked at the ceiling. “I'm so sorry, Lisa. I got too attached.”

“W-what? But you-”

“I know what I said. And I will kill you.” Twelve closed his eyes. “Just not now. I don't think Five wants to involve you. It's between us and her.”

There was a long pause. “Okay.” Lisa said as she touched her lips.

“Lisa?” Twelve faced her.

“Yes?”

“Can I kiss you again?”

Notes:

Sorry if both of them are out of character. I wrote half of this at 2am.
