Notes:

Yo! New fic!
I'm rlly excited about this fic and I hope y'all like it too.
This fic will contain some slight angst in further chapters, but not too much.
Also, most of this will be written from Jungkook's side, just so u know.

- If ur uncomfortable with non-sexual Little Space, then pls leave. Being Little is Jungkook's coping mechanism and it'll come up quite a bit in this story-

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: First meetings

Chapter Text

It’s just like any day for Jungkook. After classes he rushes to his on-campus dorm to change into more work-appropriate clothes (light-wash jeans with pink hearts painted on and his work shirt), he eats a quick snack and makes his way to the nearby cafe. The cafe’s name is ‘Thanks A Latte’ which quite frankly fits with its eccentric feel. Overall the cafe has a very 60's style, with pastel-coloured booths against every wall, and some little round tables in the middle of the floorplan. The walls are painted that cadillac-mint colour, and the left-side wall is adorned with those metal signs (coca-cola, 7-up, etc.), Jungkook really loves the place, and it makes him feel right at home.

Jungkook gets off the bus, walks into the cafe, puts on his apron and prepares himself for another monotonous day. And yeah, it’s quite the average day. Customers walk in, Jungkook takes their order and then he serves them their drinks. It's really not that stimulating, but still, Jungkook likes it. It's routine.

But then his routine gets broken by two customers walking in, they’re clearly a couple; holding hands, laughing. Jungkook smiles at them as they walk up to the counter. He must say, the men are quite attractive. The one on the left, the taller one, has blue hair and strikingly intense eyes. The other guy has full cheeks, plump lips and brown hair. Jungkook’s breath gets taken away as the smaller man speaks up. His voice is slightly high-pitched and has this familiar lilt to it; he has a busan accent. The guy orders for himself and blue-haired guy and Jungkook has some trouble pulling himself together. His cheeks are flushed and he’s stuttering and he /knows/ the two can tell, as they share a look and then the blue-haired guy leans his elbow on the counter and opens his mouth.

And oh god, his voice is deep and sultry and it makes Jungkook’s knees weak. He says something, but Jungkook can’t hear it over the sound of his own heartbeat in his ears.

“S-sorry w-what did-did you s-say?” Jungkook stutters out and right now he’d rather shrivel up from embarrassment than have to speak another word.

The shorter man is laughing as the other guy repeats himself. “I said, wanna grab a coffee, because I like you a latte. Get it? Get it?” he lets out a short bout of laughter and Jungkook rubs his temples. “Oh my god..” he mutters. Is he getting hit on right now?

“Tae, don’t harass the pretty barista!” brown-haired guy says after slapping so-called Tae’s shoulder. Jungkook feels the blush on his cheeks spread down to his neck as brown-haired hottie turns to him. “I’m sorry for my boyfriend,” He says in a overly-sweet tone and Jungkook can feel himself starting to slip already, this is bad. “But he does have good taste. So, is your number on the menu?” he continues, lifting one eyebrow and smirking.

Jungkook trips over his words “I- uh- w-w- uh-” he takes a breath to steady himself and coughs softly into his fist. “I-I’m very s-sorry but there a l-line forming s-so i m-must ask you to- uh- wrap up your order p-please.” He stutters out. And it's true, there is a line forming, but honestly he just wants out of this situation because he does not know how to handle this like a big boi.

"Okay, okay" the brown-haired guy says as he hands Jungkook some money "keep the change" he smiles. "O-okay- uh- you-your order w-will b-be right up" Jungkook mutters as he puts the money in the till.

After the two men sit down in a booth, Jungkook finds himself unable to focus, constantly glancing over to them, but looking away quickly before they could catch his gaze. But, he still has the rest of the line to go through, so he tries his best not to be distracted while taking customers orders. As the last customer in the line finally paid for their order, so-called Tae and his boyfriend's drinks are done. "W-wait" Jungkook tells his co-worker, an idea forming in his head. "Let-let me t-take those."

His co-worker shrugs and hands Jungkook the drinks. Jungkook takes them and places them on the counter. He fishes a pen out of his pocket and writes his number, along with a little heart on one of the cups. His cheeks heat up as he thinks about what he's done. Is he really about to give his number to a couple? Well, it's too late now, he's already written it down. He can't remake the drink. He takes a breath and grabs the drinks again, heading out into the cafe and towards the booth said couple is sitting in. He puts the drinks down "h-here you go" he mumbles, head turned downwards towards the floor, and quickly walks away, blush spreading down to his neck.

He takes deep breaths to calm down his raging heart as he walks back to the counter. He really, really hopes he didn't just make a big mistake. For the rest of his shift he wills himself to not look over at the pair anymore, and to just focus on the work at hand. He doesn't even look up as they come over to the counter again to order some pastries. He just wants to go home and regress. At the end of his shift he spends an embarrassing long time wiping down the counter, counting down the seconds before he can go home. And then it's 5pm and he finally, finally gets to go home.

He goes to the back, takes off his apron, gathers his things and clocks out. He says goodbye to his coworkers and quickly walks out of the store. Tae and his boyfriend are still sitting at the booth, but he doesn't look up, even though he can feel them staring at him.

As soon as he gets home he plops down on his bed and gather his favourite stuffie into his arms. He checks his phone, no new messages. He lets out a soft sigh and puts his phone away. He does not want to think about the two guys from the cafe anymore. Tonight is all about him, and about being Little.
