Sugar, we're fine

Summary:

Jimin gets heated, Tae is missing, Yoongi is a flustered force of justice and Namjoon and Jin own a bookstore.
And Jungkook has really had enough.
Hoseok just wanted a cookie.

Notes:

This isn't really edited, I might update it later if I end up cleaning it up a bit, but for now it's this little sugary mess.
English isn't my first language and I'd like to get better, so if you find something wrong or weird do tell me!
Hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

Jimin was humming as he swept the sidewalk in front of the bakery. The breakfast rush had just ended, the customer influx finally letting up enough that he could leave Jungkook alone to fend for himself.
The pink haired baker sighed, it was Tae’s first day of leave and he was already missing him. Not that seeing the flustered youngest trying to keep up with customers wasn’t entertaining enough. The poor guy was used to just baking in the back, safe from people and their flirting, and let’s face it, probably spending most of his time playing on his phone instead of working.
But he had really gotten used to working alongside his best friend, they had opened the bakery together, it was just them at first. Even now, after a couple of years and the addition of Jungkook, the brunette was still always there with Jimin, full of energy, but also very good at reading the atmosphere. Somehow Tae always knew when to be straightforward and hardworking and when to lighten up the mood. Jimin was simply not yet at the same level of seamless work with the youngest.
Not wanting to stall thinking about how usually Tae followed him out to sweep and joke around, Jimin settled on sending him a string of interestingly placed emojis and hope he wasn’t already too dirty from gardening with his grandma to reply.
He heard movement from the shop next door, and saw Namjoon taking out the used books bins, he smiled at the older guy, receiving a quick flash of dimples in reply, before the bleached blonde guy had to rush to catch a book that was falling from a precariously balanced pile.
The baker giggled as the older grumbled and started rearranging the bins so that all the spines were visible.
Jimin closed his eyes and basked a bit in the still cool sunshine, he would have started chatting with the other like they usually did, their friendship had easily came from late nights of bonding over being young business owners. Today though Namjoon could clearly see he wasn’t really in the mood. He hadn’t really slept, too stressed thinking about how it was the first time since the opening that he was completely entrusted with the shop.
And with keeping their youngest in line, which was admittedly harder, since he was apparently respectful only to people taller than him.
So he was tired, missing his best friend and he had messed up two orders already. The week was going to be long.
A loud engine sound roused him from his thoughts, he snapped his eyes open and came face to face with a sleek black car parking right in front of his shop.
He blinked rapidly as a tall imposing man in a fitted suit exited the car.
“Sorry sir...”
The man was now looking straight at him, Jimin’s hand twitched around the broom, “Well, they always fine cars here, you might want to move a bit up…” he explained in his best Customer-Service-Tone and an easy smile.
The man, apparently, wasn’t having any of it.
In a second a storm passed over his face and he all but yelled in Jimin’s face.
“What do you think you know idiot. I don’t have time for this bullshit, you fucking midget!”
And in a flurry of insults and gesturing limbs he was gone.
Jimin blinked once, twice.
He heard Namjoon murmur a small “Wow, man” and turned to look at the other’s equally confused face.
“I’m now very happy that Jin didn’t want to come prep the bins today, he’d have surely punched the guy.”
Jimin scoffed “He probably deserved it, what an asshole.”
“Still that’s not good for business, Minnie” he could hear the smile in the older’s tone, he just sighed shaking his head.
“I’m not that short…”
That’s your takeaway?”

“Do you feel me Hobi? I was just trying to be nice! He was such an ass!”
“An ass with a nice car tho.”
Jimin swatted the dancer, making him almost drop the sugar cookie he was holding, raising a distressed whine from the dancer.
Jungkook huffed behind the counter, he was playing some rhythm game, not even bothering to turn down the volume since it was just them in the shop.
Jimin flopped, laying half on top of the table huffing, forcing Hoseok to retreat to eat his cookie in peace.
“They always give fines to the cars parked in front of the shops, and people always come in to complain. But do they accept a warning? Noo, they just yell. Asshole.”
The pink haired baker muttered as the older one patted his head and hummed both in acknowledgment of his frustration and in appreciation of the cookie. Which, really, made him look not really sympathetic to Jimin’s struggles.
The younger straightened up to pout offended at the dancer, trying to muster all of his indignation as he whined.
"He even called me a midget! The nerve!"
Hoseok couldn't help but laugh as the short baker huffed and shook his tiny fists, rambling about the weird encounter, when he suddenly stopped still.
In a second Jimin was out of his chair, running out of the door, but the dancer really didn't care to stop and wonder why, since in his hurry the pink haired male had knocked the cookie out of his hands.
He whined loudly looking at the small bite left laying on the ground, before directing a watery look to Jungkook.
"There there, hyung. I'll get you another."

Yoongi had always thought he was quite mindful, especially while on the job. But he might want to reconsider that idea, since he had just pretty much ran into a door.
It seemed like the bakery's door had opened in a split second, a cute flushed pink-haired guy suddenly tumbling out.
In his defence Yoongi thinks his extensive training worked, since he was more startled by how pretty the other was than by the sudden flurry of movement.
"Officer!"
Yoongi just blinked, raising a silent eyebrow, not that an answer would have been appreciated since the guy just went straight on with his ramble.
"I know this probably isn't your field, but this car is illegally parked!"
The guy was angrily pointing to a nice-looking car right in front of them, and really, Yoongi stood no chance against that cute crumpled face and honey-like voice, even if the guy was clearly upset.
So he did the only obvious thing to do, he fished out a small ticket book he carried just in case he run into some really glaring infractions, a relic from his rookie days, and he quickly wrote off a fine.
The pleased expression on the shorter's face was sure worth it.
"Can I ask what brought this on?" he asked, an amused tilt in both his voice and his small smile.
After all they were in a zone where the parking was quite well regulated, you usually didn't have to go look for parking tickets.
He could clearly see his voice had startled the guy out of his thoughts, and he couldn't help but preen a bit as the short male glanced at him, then immediately did a double take, checking him out quite obviously.
"The guy who parked here was an ass. I tried to warn him about fines and he yelled at me..."
That was, actually quite cute. Petty, but cute nonetheless.
Probably the fact that guy's embarrassed face was really cute helped quite a bit.
"Well then, Officer Min Yoongi here to right your wrongs."
He did a lazy salute accompanied by a cocky smirk, trying to find some non-horrible pick-up line to at least get the name of the cute guy.
It really was hard when you were friends with Jin, and therefore subjected with cheesy lines at any given time.
"Really?" the guy huffed and pouted a bit, plump lips jutting out, and wow. Who cares about parking, that should have been illegal.
"You're not even going to try and say that I'm the one who's fine? That was a perfect set-up, Officer Min."
Yoongi choked.
The pink haired guy went from tutting amused to full out giggling, a hand raised to cover his mouth, it was really, truly too cute to handle.
"Well cutie, maybe first give me your name?" it was lame, but the cop counted it as a win, since he managed not to stutter.

The other got a wicked glint in his eyes that promised nothing good, Yoongi's heart skipped a beat. He really hoped he wasn't blushing, or that would really ruin his already shaky tough cop appeal.
"Park Jimin," the guy offered with an amused tone "and I can offer you something much better than a name. I can offer you..." he leaned in towards the officer, a conspiratory smile on his lips and whispered
"a cookie!" before breaking out in a blinding eye-crescent smile.
And really, Yoongi was a weak man, but it had been a while since his mom last warned him about strangers and sweets, so what else could he do but follow the guy, Jimin, in the bakery.

When he grabbed the officer’s hand to drag him inside Jimin noticed Jin looking smugly at them through the book store’s glass door. He couldn't even bring himself to care about how he was pretty sure the display he was busying himself with had just been set up the day before.

Tae had surprised them coming back one day early. He wanted to see the little Jenkookie faring with customers, he said.
So there he was, sitting at the counter giggling over a small streak of flour on the youngest cheek, as a flustered Jungkook tried to clean himself. As the baker mumbled rubbing fiercely at his face, the door opened letting in Yoongi.
The officer went straight to the counter, where Jimin was perched, leaning over with a small smile on his face and a soft “Hi" directed to the newcomer.
Ta raised a confused brow while Jungkook scoffed and went to prepare Yoongi's coffee, he had soon learned that the cop wouldn't leave without it, but Jimin would just stand to exchange quiet words and look flustered at the older guy instead of actually preparing it.
"Who's the addiction?" he asked, voice too low to be heard from the two, but eyes still fixed on their smiling faces.
"That's Yoongi-hyung, he comes around so often you'd think he needs to collect a toll or something." he snorted.
That earned him a quick half amused half annoyed glance from the cop, who quickly went back to his hushed conversation with Jimin.
"But he really only comes to flirt with Jimin, they've been skirting around each other all week."
He said slamming the coffee in front of the incriminate couple, and suddenly two pair of embarrassed and panicked eyes were on him, he just shrugged and looked at Tae.
"I'm just happy that you finally came back, I've gotten tired of making coffee while they look at each other all starry-eyed."
The two sputtered, faces flushed, while Tae just laughed.
"Ahh, JIminnie, do you need me to give you a boost and make you ask him out?" he asked pointing his thumb at Yoongi.
Jimin pouted and the officer’s tension visibly melted, gaze softening. Tae really couldn't stop smiling.
"NO... It's just..." the baker averted his eyes "I didn't want to be distracted when you trusted me with the bakery..."
Tae's eyes softened, his best friend really was too nice sometimes, he was about to reply when Yoongi beat him to it.
"Then come to dinner with me tonight!" he almost yelled, probably because of the effort it took to actually get it out, his face tight but hopeful. When Jimin, caught aback, didn't immediately reply the cop grimaced in panic and started blabbering
"You know, since he's back and all.. You can take it a bit more calmly an-"
He was cut off by Jimin's melodic laugh, as the baker took the older's hand into his.
"Of course hyung, I was waiting just for that."
