And run your hands from my neck to my chest

Summary:

It was the low rumble and clicking of their radiator that woke Jotaro.

He reached his arm out from the covers to hit the light on top of the alarm, immediately pulling it back in again. The clicking noise was obviously the heater trying to work but not quite managing it. Jotaro remembered him and Kakyoin talking a few weeks before about getting someone out to look at the boiler before winter properly hit but deadlines and assignments had happened and they didn’t get around to it.

Notes:

Title from "Crack the shutters" by Snow Patrol

Set in the same universe as "The blood in our veins are just chemicals" and "'Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins" but they can be read separately.

Jotakak Week, day 3 - Cold Winter Day

Work Text:

It was the low rumble and clicking of their radiator that woke Jotaro.

He reached his arm out from the covers to hit the light on top of the alarm, immediately pulling it back in again. The clicking noise was obviously the heater trying to work but not quite managing it. Jotaro remembered him and Kakyoin talking a few weeks before about getting someone out to look at the boiler before winter properly hit but deadlines and assignments had happened and they didn’t get around to it.

Sitting up slightly Jotaro shivered and exhaled, noticing his breath coming out in white puffs.

Fuck.

Beside him Kakyoin grumbled and pulled the blanket closer around him. Jotaro ran a hand over his sleep-mussed hair and pushed himself off the low bed to quickly grab the dressing gown throw over the back of a chair, pulling it on as he walked into the living room.

Peering through the curtain he was met with pale skies and what looked like under a foot of snow.

Good grief, he sighed. Luckily neither him nor Kakyoin had classes or seminars today, but they weren’t going to be going out for a while. While the weather report has predicted snow, it wasn’t supposed to be heavy or even supposed to lie. Guess they got that wrong…

Jotaro padded softly into the kitchen, hissing at the cold tiles against his feet, and flicked the coffee maker on. Breakfast could wait he figured, Kakyoin probably wasn’t waking up for another few hours and it wasn’t like they’d be able to get out and go anywhere. Campus was probably empty.

The hissing and rattle of the coffee maker snapped him out of his day dream and he grabbed a mug before dropping onto the sofa and picking up a text book.

After an hour, he went into the kitchen to grab a refill of coffee to try and warm up his chilly hand, and when he went back to the living room his previous seat was now occupied by Kakyoin who had dragged himself out bed and brought the duvet out with him.

“Morning,” came a mumble from under the duvet. Jotaro set down his mug on the table and wrapped his arms around the duvet’d bundle that contained his boyfriend and manoeuvred him around to he could sit back down, back against the armrest and long legs spread out, and Kakyoin onto him.

“Your cold.” Was muttered into his chest and only when Jotaro felt the heat of Kakyoin did he realise how cold he was from sitting in the heatless room for an hour.

Kakyoin rearranged himself on top of his freezing boyfriend and spread his long legs out, flinching when his feet bumped into what felt like ice cubes on Jotaros feet.

“You should have put socks on,” he said wrapping his arms around his boyfriend’s neck, “or just stayed in bed with me.”

Jotaro hummed in agreement and pulled Kakyoin closer him, before chuckling and sliding his fingers down the back of Kakyoin’s boxers, grinning and pulling him in tighter as the redhead flinched and tried to escape.

“I would have but I had work to do,” he said kissing Kakyoin’s forehead, ignoring the frown and the glare from the warmer man on top of him, “and you know you’d do the exact same to me.”

Kakyoin laughed and kissed Jotaros cold nose, cheeks and forehead before settling back down on his chest.

Yeah, Jotaro thought. He could definitely get used to this…

Notes:

Turns out writing fanfiction on a night shift is a terrible idea and I spent most of the following day trying to fix all the mistakes I made.
