Baran cocked her head marginally. Her gaze bounced across Santos’ face, the shadow of a smile playing at her lips, trying to read what she saw on there. She could never quite understand which side of the line between sincerity and sarcasm Santos was on at any given time, and had made a small game of trying to work out which. For example here, the slightly raised left eyebrow along with the dry tone was enough to lead to the conclusion that this interaction was not entirely free of scorn.
