Summary
They argue over little things just like they did when they were kids. Over whether Brightmoon food really lives up to all its hype. Over whether Adora’s jacket is out of style and whether its tired reds need a revamping. Over whether Glimmer and Bow really need to be there for every quiet night in and solemn night out. Trivial, inconsequential scrabbles that they work through with a few shoves and a good number of lopsided grins.

Summary
Some called the wastes lawless. An endless stretch of nothing but dry wind that robs the breath and sands the skin bare, broken up by scrounging rogues and outlanders who owed no honor to anyone. A place where order went to die.
At one time, Dysir thought it was true but learned quickly it was merely a dramatic over-telling of one basic truth: when there is not enough to spare, those with less struggle the most. There were laws of sorts, if one cared to learn them. To be willing and able to do what was needed without hesitation.
With no skin to sand or breath to lose, Dysir found it quite bearable to live outside the laws made by humans who feared the elements and animals skulking the borders of wild land because it could not be tamed. A machine made to survive and endure taking to a vagabond's life seemed poetic. Destined. What he was made for...
... but now, he wasn't so sure. Nothing about the wastes was so terrible it couldn't be managed and yet every obstacle he once faced with ease became a new challenge. The kind he couldn't face alone. All of which begged the question:
Why was there even a baby out there to begin with?
