Summary
Izzy dumps the gathered blankets into John's arms, fixing him with a serious look. This is the first of John’s omega lessons, and he wants to make sure the younger man is paying attention.
“You start with a solid base,” Izzy explains. “That means blankets. As many as you can get your hands on. You want it to be as comfortable as possible because during a real heat you’ll be there for some time. Days, could be. So you want the base comfortable and sturdy.”
The battle with the Naval ship is a fortnight behind them, the Walrus finally in working order again. They had stopped to repair the ship on a beach, and had gotten the roster back in its usual rhythm after the triggered rut and heat between the four of them. As Izzy had suspected, it had taken a lot of work to regain the day lost. And, as Flint had predicted, no one on the crew or in the pack had resented the absence.
“Go on, treasure,” Izzy says with a grin at the younger omega. “Start your base.”
