Chapter Text
Congratulations! You have, if not saved, then by your own standards improved the material situation of Asriel Dreemurr! The physical damage of being an unwitting science experiment has been mitigated, and he now has a support network to help recover his emotional pain!
Where does he go from here?
Well that's the beauty of fiction, isn't it? You can take him anywhere, with anyone. And for the thousands of words I've used to describe and example different explanations for his return, some of the best stories involving him don't bother having a concrete explanation, or have even defied offering one. Because while helping him overcome the single biggest hurdle you see in his life can be fun and exciting, true recovery is more a marathon than a sprint. How to write that? Well while I think I've focused reasonably well on the moment of saving the Prince, I think the possible paths he will follow from that point onward are possibly even more diverse than how we got here. Even with my own career I've struggled with snippets here and there, but haven't really handled a single arc of recovery for him. And that's fine. I know my limitations and when I'm ready to try and break them, I'll try then.
Don't be afraid to put your own spin on any approach to saving him. Don't be afraid to skip the nuts and bolts and focus on the emotional developments of his return. Don't be afraid to write it for yourself first of all. If you can look back on it in a few years and feel satisfied, maybe you can wonder how to address other post-Undertale threads. Or maybe even think of something truly of your own to write. Enjoy thinking about it. Enjoy writing it. And never feel like you can't contribute.
Stay determined!
