Chapter 23: Chapter 23

TW for attempt rape and violence

Chapter Text

6 months later.

After Hope's birthday party and the conversation she'd had with Gold that day, Regina couldn't help but think about the possibility every time she was around Emma and Hope. What if. It was crazy, but maybe it wasn't impossible.

And Regina being Regina, she hadn't talked to anyone about it, not even Emma. She didn't want to get their hopes up in case it was unthinkable. She needed answers first.

Of course, the fact that Regina didn't have any pictures of her as a baby made any comparisons a bit difficult, but Gold had met her when she was still a baby so maybe...

She and Henry had taken Hope for a walk after the young boy had called Regina that morning saying it would be nice to get his little sister out of the house for a bit. 'Hook is in a bad mood today and I don't want him near her.' Henry had barely finished talking and the brunette had shown up to get them.

She sighed and stood up, picking up Hope's toys from the grass and handing them to Henry for him to put in her bag. "Come on, my princess." Regina stretched out her hands toward Hope. "Let's get you home. Your mother must be missing you."

"Mama." Hope reached out with her little hands, opening and closing her fingers, beaming at the brunette.

Regina stopped in her tracks at that, her heart thundering in her chest. She swallowed back the tears that tried to pool in her eyes and leaned forward to take the girl in her arms. They walked to the car in silence and Regina was trying hard not to look at Henry's curious face. She strapped Hope into the baby seat and waited for Henry to settle into the passenger seat before starting the engine.

Regina opened the door to Emma's house and immediately felt that something was wrong. The dining room chair was on the floor, there were broken dishes on the floor and noises coming from the living room.

Regina took a step towards the sound and felt her blood run cold at what she saw; Emma was lying on the living room floor, her T-shirt ripped and there was blood on her face and arm. "Henry, take your sister out. Wait for me in the car. No matter what happens, don't come in here." She waved her hand, poofing the two out of the house, with another wave of her hand she locked the front door. "Hook!" She barked. "Get off her now or I'm not responsible for what's going to happen to you."

"Get out of my house, witch." He lifted his face to look at the brunette, his eyes glittering dangerously and a manic smile painting his lips. "Swan here needs to understand that she married a pirate and we don't usually give up our treasures." He slapped her across the face and a moment later felt his back slamming into the fireplace.

"I knew you were a dirty pirate who got women drunk to fuck them, but I didn't think you liked hitting them either." Regina growled, her hand raised holding the man against the wall with magic.

"Admit it, Your Majesty, you will never be a match for me, for without your magic you are nothing."

"I guarantee you I don't need magic to beat the shit out of you."

Regina released Hook and he dropped to his knees, but before he could do anything, the brunette was before him with a wicked smile and a look he hadn't seen in a long time.

"Regina?" The blonde opened her eyes and tried to support herself on her elbows, but an excruciating pain went through her body making her cry out in pain.

The brunette turned to look at Emma and in that second of distraction Hook hit her. She arched from the impact of the blow and turned to him again and he landed a punch to her jaw. He grinned wickedly as blood trickled from the corner of her mouth and prepared to give another blow when the brunette's swift, closed left fist hit his jaw making him stagger backwards. "It doesn't matter who your opponent is, you don't attack a person from behind." Regina growled.

"I am a pirate, Your Majesty, these rules do not apply." He chuckled, using the back of his hand to wipe the blood from his lips.

"Okay then." Regina smiled and launched herself at him, landing three punches in a row and sending him to the ground. She lifted her leg and then came down hard, hitting his rib and smiling when he doubled over in pain. She kicked him again and then felt his hook in her heel, but before he could pierce her flesh she jumped back out of his reach.

Hook staggered to his feet and grunted in pain, but he did not back down. Instead he lunged at Regina and smiled as his hook scraped her skin, opening a shallow cut at the spot. "I'll cut you to pieces and throw you overboard to feed the fish." He growled and lunged again.

Regina made a noise between what sounded like a growl and a laugh and lunged at the pirate, landing a hard punch in the pit of his stomach. When he doubled over in pain, she kneed him in the chin and Hook howled in pain. "I promise, when I'm done with you, you'll never touch a woman again in your life." Regina grabbed him by the hair with one hand and threw punch after punch with the other. She dodged when he tried to fight back and pushed him away. Killian staggered and Regina took the opportunity, kicking him hard in the middle of his chest, sending him flying against the wall.

He hit with a loud thud and slid to the floor, blood trickling from his mouth, nose, and eyebrow. Regina took quick steps towards him and cupped his chin, tightening his jaw until the skin under her fingers turned white. "Don't ever go near Emma or anyone in my family again." Regina hissed. She reached up to rip his heart out, but was stopped by someone's hand on her wrist. She turned to look and saw it was Emma.

END OF TW.

The blonde's face was contorted in pain, her arm was around her waist, clutching her right side. "No." She choked out. "No, please."

Regina felt her heart break. After everything Killian had done Emma was taking his side.

Even with the excruciating pain running through her entire body, Emma managed to read the brunette's gaze before her and quickly said, "It's not that. Part of me wants you to do this, but I can't let you surrender to the darkness for my fault."

"He deserves it."

"Believe me, there's nothing more I want to do right now than set him on fire, but he's not worth it." A second voice echoed in the destroyed living room and they both turned to see Maleficent there.

"He deserves it." Regina said it again, her other hand still holding Hook’s jaw tight.

"Yes, he deserves it, but that doesn't mean it's worth it." Maleficent waved her hand and in the next moment the pirate was unconscious. "We've come a long way to put everything down for someone like him." She said firmly. "Besides, Emma needs you."

"How did you get here?"

Emma swayed in relief and released Regina's wrist, her eyes closing as she fell backwards.

Before the blonde could hit the ground, Maleficent was beside her. "Henry called me." Maleficent sighed and carefully scooped the other blonde into her arms. "I would leave it to you, but you also need care."

"I’m fine."

"I know you are, but still." She arched an eyebrow. "I'll take us to your place if you don't mind. I don't want Emma to be here when she wakes up."

Before they could disappear into Maleficent's purple smoke, the front door flew open revealing David and Lilith.

"Emma!" David ran over to them, his gaze shifting between his daughter, the sorceress, and Regina. "What happens here?" He looked around in shock.

"I think it's pretty clear what happened here." Lilith growled. "Where is he?"

"He won't hurt anyone else." Maleficent said with a pointed look at her daughter. "David, I believe you are second in charge in Emma's absence."

"Y-yes." He said without taking his eyes off his daughter in the witch's arms. He was stroking her hair gently and fighting the urge to take her in his own arms.

"Make yourself useful and pick up that pile of rubbish." Regina said, her expression an unreadable mask. "I don't care what you guys do to him, but if he dares go near Emma or anyone else in this family again, I won't have mercy on him. No matter who asks me to stop."

David knew that Regina had snapped at him because she was worried about Emma and not because she was actually mad at him. If he knew her well enough, she was probably blaming herself for not getting there sooner. "Don't worry, I'll take him to the police station and then we'll figure out together what we'll do." He shook his head and turned to Lilith. "Can you get it, please?"

"With pleasure." The brunette smiled wickedly.

"Lilith, you better not try anything funny." Maleficent's voice was firm, a warning with no room for discussion.

"Fine." Lilith rolled her eyes and marched to where Hook was still unconscious. She turned his face away with the sole of her boot and laughed. "You got what you deserved, asshole." She grabbed him by the shirt and lifted him carelessly, throwing him against the wall and turning him so she could put the cuffs on.

"David, we're going to take Emma to my house. I'd like you to take Henry and Hope to your house and then we'll talk to him. I don't want him to see Emma like that." Regina said wearily.

"Of course." He sighed, running a hand over his face. "You know Snow is going to freak out and run in there the moment I tell her what happened, right?"

"I know." Regina sighed. "After we take care of Emma I'll call you so you can meet us there."

"Thank you, Regina. For everything." David smiled gently at her and then walked away from the trio, letting Maleficent engulf them in his purple smoke and get them out.

(...)

As soon as they appeared in Regina's living room, Zelena ran up to them and grabbed her sister, who swayed gracefully. "What the hell happened?" She helped Regina walk to the couch and was relieved when the brunette didn't push her away.

"Hook happened." Regina sighed heavily. She watched intently as Maleficent placed Emma on the living room sofa. "Where's Robyn?"

"At school."

"Good, I don't want her to see this."

"Where are Henry and Hope?"

"I asked David to take them to the farmhouse and after we take care of Emma they can come." Regina shook her head, tears finally running down her face. "That bastard, he was-" She choked on a sob and then felt the redhead envelop her in a tight hug.

"The important thing is that you made it on time, Regina. Don't forget that." Zelena whispered as she stroked her sister's hair. "I'm going to get the first aid kit to clean those bruises of yours while Maleficent takes care of Emma. Wait here."

"You know I have magic and I can resolve it with a wave of my hand right?" Regina snorted, but let the redhead go get the kit. As Zelena disappeared down the hallway that led to the bathroom, Regina got up and went to the sofa where Emma lay unconscious. "She'll be fine, right?"

When Maleficent opened his eyes and looked at the brunette sitting on the edge of the sofa, she felt like she'd been taken back to the past. Before her was that Regina she had known many, many years ago. Looking uncertain and vulnerable, with barely contained hatred for not having done what he could to protect those she loves, but most of all, afraid. Fear of losing another great love. "She will be fine, yes." Maleficent said gently. "We can heal all wounds with magic, they are not very deep, however, the emotional, psychological part…" She shook her head sadly. "This is a lot more complicated. She's going to need all of you, and it's up to you to put certain limits on the Charmings. We know they mean good, but we also know that Snow White can be a little too much at times."

"I know." Regina felt new tears running down her face and before she could say anything else her front door flew open and Snow ran inside.

"Regina!" The short-haired brunette screamed in horror at seeing her ex-enemy. "What happened to you? Where's Emma? Are you guys okay?"

"That's what I was talking about." Maleficent rolled her eyes affectionately and turned her attention to the other blonde again. She never imagined that one day she would call friends the people she had once hated the most. What Aurora's parents had done to her in the past was nothing compared to what Snow and Charming had done, and yet she managed to rise above and forgive them.

"We'll be fine, Snow." Regina took the woman's hands and led her to the armchair. "Why don't you have a seat?"

"I want to see my daughter."

"She's right there." Regina pointed to the sofa where Maleficent was standing. "She's unconscious but she'll be fine."

"Unconscious? What happened, Regina? David didn't give me details."

"It's because he doesn't know the details either."

"Here, Regina, let's take care of these bruises." Zelena said, coming from the hallway with a first aid bag. "Oh hello Snow."

"Hi Zelena."

Amazingly, Regina let Zelena take care of her bruises without complaint. Not even when Snow grabbed a gauze and began to tend to the cut on her arm, Regina didn't say a word.

"I healed her bruises." Maleficent said when he finally finished his work with Emma. "But she's still going to need to rest. A lot."

"Regina, what happened there?" Snow asked again.

“I don't know what led to that, but when I went to knock Hope out of the park, as soon as I walked through the front door I saw Hook on top of her. Her shirt was torn and there was blood, a lot of blood. I lost my mind and attacked him."

"I'm going to kill Killian."

"If I couldn't, you can't either." Regina said through gritted teeth.

(...)

A few days had passed since what happened at Emma's house and since then she had been staying at Regina's house. Although she was sharing a suite with the brunette, nothing sexual had happened between them. Both needed time to deal with what had happened.

They had told Henry about what had happened, but had kept some details out.

The Charmings visited them every day, but only for a few hours as they both needed to rest.

Regina had taken a few days off from City Hall so she could take care of Emma, but she still tried to give the blonde the space she needed, easily recognizing the signs of trauma.

Surprisingly, Zelena had suggested that both Emma and Regina get back to seeing Archie to deal not just with what had happened in the past few days, but with everything else. And even more surprisingly, they both accepted without arguing.

Whenever Emma woke up in the middle of the night with nightmares, Regina would put her in her arms and stroke her hair until the blonde calmed down and they ended up talking for hours until they fell asleep again.

Gradually Emma was sharing with Regina everything she had been through with Hook, and the brunette regretted not having killed him.

"I honestly don't know how you can still want to be with me after all." Emma said one night. She was curled up against the brunette, her head resting on Regina's chest. "After everything I've put you through in the last year and a half-"

"If my love for you was thin I would have gotten out of this situation, but what have we, Emma." Regina kissed the blonde's temple. "My life was never easy, it was never made of easy choices. What you went through with him, I went through years ago." She sighed. "But unlike you, I wasn't strong. And I didn't have anyone on my side."

"You are the strongest woman I know, Regina." Emma lifted her head to look at the brunette. "Everything you've been through…and yet you have so much love inside you, ready to direct it to our child, Hope and me." She gave the brunette a tentative kiss on the shoulder. "Not to mention my parents, your sister Robyn. I've never met anyone I love as intensely as you do." Emma kissed the brunette's shoulder again. "Once, as soon as I returned from the Enchanted Forest with my mother, Gold said to my father ‘Cora was dangerous because she didn't have a heart. Regina is even more dangerous because she does.’ "And even in Gold's twisted way, I understood what he meant; that you love more intensely than anyone else. And I never thought I could know what it was like to be loved by you." Emma propped herself up on one elbow and looked at the brunette. "For a long time I thought you would never love someone like me and I believed Hook words every time he said that." Emma leaned into Regina's gentle touch as the brunette wiped the tears that ran silently down her cheeks.

"Emma, it's impossible not to love you." Regina smiled softly. “You're this smart, funny, beautiful, loyal woman. You care about people and take care of them even when they don't deserve it. When you showed up at my door that night I knew you would be my downfall. it was on my curse, not at first anyway, but after the curse broke and everyone in this town, including our son, hated me, you stayed by my side." Regina caressed her face gently. "When Mother set me up to frame me, you took my side. Against your parents." She licked her lips nervously. "There I started to see you differently, but our story was very complicated and everything happened without giving us a chance to breathe, one thing after another and when I realized I was completely in love with you and I had to let you go, so that you and our son could escape Pan's curse."

"Our lives have always been a mess, haven't they?" Emma chuckled. "But I'm glad we found each other."

"Oh, you didn't use your parents' motto on us." Regina's eyes widened in mock horror.

"Sush." Emma giggled and leaned forward, tentatively kissing the brunette's lips. "You love Me."

"You're lucky I do." Regina chuckled against Emma's lips and pulled back just enough to look her in the eye. "We don't need to do anything."

"I know," Emma smiled softly. "But I want you. I want to start a new life by your side, with our kids-" The blonde bit her lip nervously as she realized what she had just said. "Sorry, I didn't mean-"

"About this." Regina dropped her hand from Emma's face and straightened on the bed. "We really need to talk. I didn't know how to bring it up with you and everything that happened-"

"No, it's okay. I understand if you don't want to raise Hope as your own. I know how much you hate Killian and-"

"Emma, listen to me please." Regina put a finger over the blonde's lips to shut her up. "At Hope's 1st birthday party, Gold came up to me and started talking about things that made me think and research a lot."

Emma felt her heart race and her head began to come up with a thousand theories before Regina had even finished speaking. "You mean?"

"Apparently there's a chance Hope is mine. Be ours."

"Like?" Emma swallowed hard.

"Apparently when crossing the town line with a magic penis it stops being magic and becomes just an ordinary penis." Regina bit her lip. "It works entirely like a-"

"And how can we be sure?" Emma asked urgently.

"Gold seems right about that, but he said if we want to use science to be sure, we need to take a paternity test."

"Then we'll do it tomorrow." Emma leaned forward and kissed the brunette intensely. "Ever since I found out I was pregnant with Hope, I've wished, I've been hoping that somehow she was yours and now, now she really can be." Emma captured the brunette's lips once more. "Make love to me, Regina."

"Are you sure, Emma?"

"Yes." The blonde took Regina's hand and placed it on her breast, squeezing gently.

"Fuck, Emma. I missed you." Regina murmured against the blonde's lips, her hand gently cupping the blonde's breast.

"I missed you too, Regina."

The brunette deepened the kiss and pulled Emma on top of her, sliding her hands to the hem of the tank top the blonde was wearing and lifting the fabric.

Emma lifted her arms and let Regina remove her tank top, her eyes locked on the brunette below her. "I love you." Emma whispered and leaned forward, capturing the brunette's lips in a slow, sensual kiss.

Regina moaned against the blonde's lips and slid her hands gently up her torso until she reached her breasts, cupping and squeezing gently, brushing her thumbs against her hardening nipples.

"I love how responsive you are to me." Regina growled against the thin lips and her hips rocked as Emma began rocking her hips above her.

Emma took one of the brunette's hands and led it to the hem of her sweatpants. "I need you here."

"So impatient." Regina chuckled against the blonde's lips. "What's the rush for? We have all night, Em-ma."

"Fuck." The blonde threw her head back and grounded her hips against the brunette tightly. In a quick movement of her hand Emma freed both of their clothes.

"Oh fuck." Regina moaned as she felt Emma's wet pussy on her abdomen. "You got better at it." She said after a moment.

"I have a great teacher."

Regina laughed, loud and free. "Show me. Put a silencing spell in the room."

Emma licked her lips and concentrated, thinking about what she wanted with that spell and then the room glowed a faint yellow, indicating that the spell had worked.

"Good girl." Regina smiled mischievously, knowing what compliments did to the blonde. In one quick movement she laid Emma down beside her on the bed and moaned when her bodies fit perfectly, one of the brunette's legs fit between Emma's strong legs and they moaned at the contact.

They continued kissing and caressing for some time until the desire got too much. Emma slipped a hand between their bodies and cupped Regina's pussy, playing with her wet, hard clit, sliding her finger up her entrance and back again.

"Emma, don't tease me. I need you." Emma smiled and even in the room lit only by moonlight and streetlamps, Regina could see her eyes shining, filled with love and desire.

Emma placed one of Regina's legs on her hip, opening it for her and slowly sliding a finger inside her wet, hot, tight pussy.

"Fuck, my darling." The brunette's hips moved of their own accord against the blonde's hand. "Feels so good."

"Yes?" Emma swallowed hard. That position was a little awkward, but at the same time so intimate that the blonde felt she could come without even Regina touching her. There was something different about that night. Maybe it was the fact that there wasn't the burden of guilt that she was cheating on someone she didn't even love but was trapped in a relationship, or maybe it was the fact that now she could love Regina freely and the possibility that Hope was theirs. Maybe it was all of these together.

Regina seemed to feel the same thing as she took Emma's face between her hands and kissed her intensely and that kiss was unlike any they had exchanged so far. "Emma, add one more, my darling."

The blonde happily complied and slid one more finger inside her cunt, her thumb rubbing in precise circles against the brunette's clit.

"Oh fuck." The kiss broke when Regina felt Emma hit her g-spot. "Emma, my love, I won't last long."

"It's alright, my Queen. Let go." The blonde gasped, and this time there was no malice when she called Regina by her title. Just love and devotion.

And then Regina was coming, a moan left Regina's lips as she came, hard, spurting and shuddering against Emma, she could feel her inner muscles clenching and unclenching around the blonde's fingers.

(...)

Emma was sitting in the backyard of Regina's house, watching Henry, Hope, Robyn, and Neal play as she absently twirled an envelope in her fingers.

A week had passed since Regina had brought that possibility to her. A week since they first made love. A week since Emma had gone to the hospital for her paternity test. Not that she or Regina minded, because Hope would be raised by them with a lot of love and dedication, but Emma wanted the reassurance so that she could free herself from Hook’s shadow in her life once and for all.

Her sessions with Archie were helping a lot and for the first time she was really opening up to the Psychiatrist and leaving her fears and traumas behind little by little. She knew that both she and Regina had a long way to go before they could take another step in their relationship, and for Emma, part of that path would start from the moment she opened that envelope.

"Hello, my darling." Regina leaned forward and placed a kiss on top of the blonde's head. "It's all right?" She arched an eyebrow and sat down next to Emma on the sofa in the backyard.

"Yes." The blonde beamed. "How was today?"

"Intense."

"Intense good or-?"

"Good."

"Good, because I have something for us." Emma lifted the envelope between her fingers, shaking it slightly.

"It's the-?"

"Yes."

"And what does it say?" Regina bit her lip nervously.

"I still don't know. I was waiting for you to arrive so we can open it together."

"So do it." Regina squeezed the blonde's hand encouragingly. "Whatever the outcome, it won't change how I feel about you or our children." She said when the blonde didn't move. "I know this is important to you and I will be on your side regardless of this test result."

With trembling hands Emma opened the envelope and took a deep breath before reading. As soon as her eyes focused on the result, Emma felt tears run down her face and a feeling of relief and happiness fill her chest. Hope was Regina's. Hope was theirs.

Without saying anything, she handed the paper to the brunette and waited with bated breath for Regina to see it with her own eyes.

"Emma, this is- Hope is-"

"Yes, my Queen. She is ours." Emma took the brunette's face between her hands and kissed her deeply. "This is the beginning of our life together." Emma said tentatively when she broke the kiss. "I mean, I don't want to assume or rush anything. I know we have a long way to go before we get over our traumas and everything-"

"Emma Swan, I don't ever want to imagine a life without you or our children again. We don't need to rush anything, we don't need to do anything we don't want to. We don't need to say anything to anyone." Regina kissed her intensely. "We don't need to give in to any pressure. We're going to do it all in our own time, with our children. I love you and I love our kids unconditionally."

"I love you." Emma breathed and pulled the brunette into another intense kiss, but this time slower and more sensual.

"Hey, there are kids here!" Henry yelled from the middle of the backyard as he covered Hope's eyes.

Emma and Regina smiled against each other's lips and the blonde enveloped them in her white smoke.

"Put a silence spell on the room. I don't want to be traumatized again." Henry yelled, but his smile was wide and he felt like he might burst with happiness. "See Hope those two are our moms and they're finally happy and together and now no one is going to tear our family apart ever again." He pressed a kiss to her cheek and gently pushed her onto the swing.

As Emma and Regina undressed and kissed, they could hear Henry and Hope's distinct laughter as they played with Neal and Robyn and they were never happier.
