Chapter Text
The two people walking down the street froze in shock when they saw what was happening. Then, realizing the situation, they hurried closer.
"H-Hero Shoto? D-do you need help?" the girl asked, panic clear in her voice.
Shoto pulled back "Yes! Please call an ambulance!" then he turned back immediately, pressing down on Katsuki’s chest again.
One, two, three.
He pinched Katsuki’s nose shut again, took a quick breath, and sealed his mouth over Katsuki’s.
"Wake up." Shoto said through gritted teeth.
The girl fumbled for her phone, already dialing. Her friend stood nearby, frozen and staring at the scene like he could hardly believe it was real.
One, two, three.
"Katsuki, wake the hell up." He pinched Katsuki’s nose shut again, took a quick breath, and sealed his mouth over-
And then Katsuki gasped.
A broken inhale tore through him, followed by a violent cough. His body jerked under Shoto’s hands, fingers twitching weakly against the ground.
Shoto froze for half a second. Then immediately pulled back.
The girl spoke up, voice trembling, "The ambulance is coming! They said just a few minutes—"
"and that is what happened." Shoto said, still looking at Katsuki with a serious expression.
Katsuki blinked at him, then let out a small laugh when he saw how seriously Shoto was telling the story of how he ended up in the hospital.
"I didn’t know you wanted to save me." he said jokingly, though his voice was still hoarse from everything that had happened.
Shoto stiffened immediately.
Katsuki noticed. "Calm down, icy-hot." he muttered. "I was joking."
Shoto looked away for a second, before answering in a low voice." It wasn’t funny."
Katsuki’s teasing faded a little. He studied him for a moment, Then, a little softer, he said. "Yeah. I know."
Shoto didn’t speak for a moment. Katsuki coughed lightly, trying to lessen the awkwardness.
"Thank you." Shoto’s eyes widened, and his lips quivered slightly when he heard Katsuki thank him.
"I owe you this time" Katsuki whispered, his voice barely heard.
Shoto gave a small smile. "You don’t need to."
Katsuki huffed, then frowned. "Wait a minute…"
Shoto blinked at him.
"How the hell did you know I was there?"
Shoto hesitated for a moment before answering. "My instinct, I guess. I just felt like something was off from the start."
Katsuki stayed quiet, watching him.
"You seemed lost in thought" Shoto continued. "You kept looking at Midoriya, too. And your body was tense you looked uncomfortable, like you didn’t really want to be at the party."
"When you said you were going to the bathroom, something in my head kept telling me to check on you." Shoto said. "But you looked like you needed space, so I let you go. Then a minute passed, and you still hadn’t come back. I figured you probably left."
"But then you came back." Shoto continued. "You looked frustrated, like you were trying to find someone. Then I saw your eyes land on Midoriya."
His voice softened." You looked… hurt. And when you suddenly ran off, I knew something was wrong. So I followed you."
Katsuki’s face stayed neutral, but his shoulders tensed slightly which Shoto noticed.
"I don’t know what’s going on between you and Midoriya." Shoto said gently. "but if you need someone to talk to, I’m here."
Katsuki glanced at him, then sighed and looked out the window. "I’m in love with Izuku."
Shoto gave a small hum. "I know. So what’s the problem?"
Katsuki snapped his head toward him. "Wait—what? You knew?"
Shoto nodded calmly. "Yeah. It’s pretty obvious."
Katsuki stayed quiet for a moment, studying Shoto’s face, trying to read his expression but got nothing in return.
"You know." Shoto said calmly. "I’m not going to force you to tell me anything, Bakugou."
"I know."Katsuki replied."But I think you want to know."
Shoto gave a small shrug. "Maybe I do—but it’s still your choice."
"If I tell you… are you going to tell anyone?" Katsuki asked.
Shoto walked over and pulled a small chair beside Katsuki’s hospital bed before sitting down. "Is it something serious?"
Katsuki’s ears turned red in embarrassment. "Yeah… kind of."
Shoto tilted his head slightly. "Do you feel comfortable enough to tell me?"
"Yeah."
------
"Hey bro!" Kaminari greet him with sero beside him. Katsuki rolled his eyes to both of them before greeting back.
Its been a week after he got discharge, no one knows he got cardiac arrest other than shoto, the doctor and the two girls. Katsuki refuse to tell anyone and shoto respect that.
"What are you both doing at my office." Katsuki saw kaminari sit to his office couch same goes to sero.
"Hey! We just wanted to check if you’re doing okay. We barely talk to you these days, man" Kaminari said with a yawn.
"Yeah" Sero added. "Did you change your patrol schedule? We only see you for like four hours a day. Are you okay?"
Katsuki shrugged. "I’m fine. I just need to slow things down a bit."
Kaminari and Sero exchanged a glance before Sero spoke again. "You never slow down… unless your heart’s acting up again."
Katsuki tensed. Damn, he forgot they all knew about his heart condition. Back then, everyone kept checking on him, terrified he might die again. When things finally stabilized, they eased up but they still made sure he was okay.
And if they found out he could have a cardiac arrest at any moment due to his Lack of self-care for past months they’d start visiting him all the time. He didn’t want that. He didn’t want to hold anyone back.
Shoto already knew he was the first to find out. It was a pain, honestly. Ever since then, Shoto had been checking on him every day, stopping by his office in the morning, at lunch, and even at night in his apartment making sure he is eating well and doing fine!
It was frustrating… but he was also grateful.
But damn, what was he supposed to say?
That it was nothing? That he just wanted a break?
"Is Sero right? If he is… why are you keeping this from us, bro? We could help you."
Katsuki didn’t know how to respond. How was he supposed to explain it without coming off harsh? Damn it, he had no idea.
"You’re scaring us, man. Say something." Sero urged. Before Katsuki could answer, the door suddenly burst open without a knock, making all three of them flinch.
"Oh…" Shoto blinked, holding a paper bag. "Did I interrupt something?"
Katsuki relaxed a little when he saw Shoto. Shoto walked over to him, set the paper bag down, and took out the food.
"It’s already lunchtime. You need to eat, Katsuki. I bought something healthy, so just eat it. Don’t argue with me. " Shoto said, completely ignoring the other two.
"Tch. Like I can argue with you right now." Katsuki muttered, pouting as he opened the container.
Kaminari and Sero watched the two of them. Honestly, this kind of interaction was new and it definitely caught their interest.
Kaminari rested his cheek on his hand. "Since when did you two get so close? Weren’t you always trying to rip each other’s heads off?"
Katsuki’s ears turned red. "Shut the hell up, dunce face."
Sero perked up at his reaction and leaned in, whispering teasingly, "Oh? Why are your ears red? Are you embarrassed… or is there something going on between you and Shoto?"
Katsuki took a deep breath, trying to keep his temper in check. "Keep talking and I’ll kick you out of my office"
Kaminari whistled. "Shoto-kun~ care to spill the tea?"
Shoto blinked, confused, and pointed at himself. "Me?"
The three of them suddenly went quiet—then burst out laughing.
"Huh?? Wha—"
Katsuki elbowed him. "What kind of reaction was that? I’ve never seen you like that before."
"man! I never saw shoto look more confused before! That is so funny" sero wipe his tears.
Katsuki look at his both friends laughing at their as off, before looking at shoto. He was glad this man went to his office, he just doesn't wanted his friends to know that his conditions right now is not fine.
He wants to keep it to himself for now (even though shoto knows).
----
A week later, Kirishima, Sero, Denki, Iida, and Uraraka were patrolling together in Kobe City after multiple reports of villains robbing banks, killing civilians, and kidnapping people in the area.
As they walked down the street, Denki suddenly spoke up. "Hey… do you think something’s going on between Shoto and Bakubro?"
Kirishima looked at him curiously. "Really? Like what?"
Sero scratched the back of his head. "They’ve been really close lately. We keep seeing Shoto drop by Bakugo’s office every morning—and even during lunch."
"Hey, let’s not jump to conclusions like that" Iida said, chopping his hand up and down. "They’re probably just friends."
Kaminari shook his head. "No way, man! We both saw Shoto bring Bakubro lunch that one time. And guess what? Bakugo actually pouted when Shoto told him he had to eat it! Isn’t that way beyond friendship?!"
Kirishima gasped. "If you’re saying Katsuki pouted, then yeah—something’s definitely going on!"
"Hey, hey! Let’s not jump to conclusions like Iida said!" Uraraka cut in. "Maybe they’re just closer than usual!"
Kirishima turned to her. "No, this is different. If my bro’s trying to act cute, that’s definitely beyond normal!"
Uraraka blinked. "…Okay, yeah, that’s true."
"See?!" Kaminari exclaimed, covering his face and spinning a little. "Oh my god, I think they’re actually dating!"
"But! We still shouldn’t jump to conclusions" Iida added, adjusting his glasses. "Perhaps we can ask Midoriya. They’re both close to him."
The others perked up—even Uraraka.
"That’s a great idea!" Kaminari said. "But we’re not seeing Midoriya today… except for you, Uraraka."
Uraraka puffed out her chest. "I’ll do it, guys. I’ll be your detective!"
"Heck yeah!"
---
"Midoriya sensei? Here is the assignment you asked for" Koto went inside of his office and give it to him.
Izuku smiled at him "thank you kota-kun, is your internship doing well?"
Kota nodded "yeah, I'm glad you help me sensei pick up agency that suits for me"
Izuku pat his head "your welcome Kota-kun"
Izuku went back checking the paper But Kota hasn't left yet which Izuku noticed, so he stopped checking the paper. "is there's something you need kota-kun?"
Kota nodded his ears getting red "uh... Is Dynamight-san okay?"
Izuku was surprised by Kota's question. "yeah kota-kun he is alright, why are you asking?"
"I noticed that Dynamight-san doesn't come to our classroom anymore."
Izuku laughed a little "he probably busy this days"
Izuku swallowed, he was the only reason why katsuki wouldn't come to their class and teach them Hero tactics anymore.
When katsuki said he doesn't want to see him anymore angrily, he knows he is serious.
Kota shake his head "That's not it, he's not very active in the news either, I barely see him on TV sensei, are you sure he is doing well?"
When Izuku heard that Katsuki hadn’t been very active these past few days, it felt unusual—and it worried him. He frowned, glancing at his phone on the desk, tempted to pick it up and call just to check if Katsuki was okay.
But he stopped himself.
Katsuki didn’t want to talk to him anymore, and Izuku respected that. So instead, he held himself back.
"I'll message him okay? I'll tell you when he reply" izuku smiled a little.
Of course its a lie that he will message katsuki. Even he do, he knows katsuki will not message him back.
Izuku sigh when kota nodded before leaving.
He probably just asked their friends.
----
"Is it true that shoto-kun and Bakugo-kun is dating?"
Izuku spits out the milkshake he was drinking when uraraka asked him a sudden question.
"Izuku?! What the hell why did you spit on me?! Ugh!" Uraraka whined, quickly grabbing tissues to wipe her face.
"Oh my god, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to!" Izuku panicked. "Why would you even ask me that?! What kind of question is that?!"
Uraraka tossed the used tissue onto the table and pulled out wipes from her bag. "Because you’re close to both of them. And lately, they’ve suddenly gotten really close."
"Huh?"
"Yeah" she said, opening the wipes and cleaning her face. "I even saw them walking home together. It was kind of awkward Shoto waved at me, and Katsuki looked like he wanted to rip my head off."
She sighed, tossing the used wipe onto the table before taking out her makeup. "Honestly, Bakugo-kun looked like a possessive boyfriend."
Izuku stared blankly at his half-finished milkshake, his fingers tightening slightly around the glass.
"I don’t think they’re dating" he said quietly, still looking down.
Uraraka hummed as she fixed her makeup, glancing at him through the mirror. "You don’t think? So you’re saying you don’t know what’s going on between them?"
Izuku sighed and shrugged. "We… haven’t really been talking these days."
Uraraka paused and looked at him. "I didn’t know that. What happened?"
Izuku looked away. "Nothing really. We’ve just been busy, I guess. We don’t have time like we used to."
The truth was, Izuku didn’t want to explain. It was embarrassing—he had been the one who started that kind of relationship.
“You’ve been quiet, Izuku-kun."Uraraka said gently.
Izuku blinked."Huh? Ah—sorry. I was just thinking."
"Are you sure?"
"yep!" He nodded, rubbing the back of his neck before standing up. "Sorry! I should get going. Lunch is over, and I still have class."
Uraraka watched him stand, her brows knitting slightly. "Izuku… wait."
"Sorry, Uraraka-san! See you next time!"
She watched as he hurried out the door, then let out a small sigh.
"gay love."
-----
"Sorry I’m late. I needed to make sure Katsuki got home safely" Shoto said loudly as he stepped into the genkan, taking off his shoes. He didn’t seem to notice Uraraka and Iida staring at him, while Izuku sat nearby eating chips and focused on playing Mario Kart, trying to ignore Shoto’s words.
"It’s okay, Shoto-kun. It’s your duty to make sure Bakugo-kun gets home safely" Uraraka said with a small giggle.
Iida coughed lightly, clearly trying to hold something back.
"Yeah… it’s getting colder these days. I ordered ramen for everyone. I’ll go put it in the kitchen" Shoto added.
Uraraka and Iida watched as he walked off. The moment he disappeared, Uraraka grabbed her head dramatically.
"Oh my god… that means they’re basically together! My baby Shoto is growing up!"
"uraraka—quiet down" Iida whispered, adjusting his glasses. "He might hear you."
Izuku paused his game after getting knocked out and looked at them with a grumpy expression, clearly annoyed by the conversation.
"Ugh… if you guys aren’t going to play, I’m going home."
Uraraka blinked. "Eh? Okay! Sorry, sorry—we’ll play!"
She quickly sat up and picked up the controller, with Iida doing the same.
Shoto returned with his cold soba and sat beside Izuku. "I’m just going to watch."
Izuku rolled his eyes and restarted the game without saying anything.
An hour later, Uraraka flopped onto the carpet with a whine. "I always lose! Can you two stop beating me up in this game?!"
Shoto smiled slightly as he sipped his apple juice. "It’s okay, Uraraka. Izuku will let you win this time since Iida isn’t playing anymore."
Iida rubbed his forehead. "Yes, I need to eat. I’m hungry."
"Okay, fine! Let’s go, Izuku-kun! I’ll beat you this time!" Uraraka sat up again with renewed energy.
Izuku finally glanced up from the screen. "You say that every time… and still lose by a freezing " he muttered, thumbs still moving quickly.
"HEY!" Uraraka pointed at him. "That was just one time of bad luck!"
Shoto took another sip of his drink. "It was actually three times."
"Huh?! No, it wasn’t!"
"Yeah, it was"
Uraraka pouted and pressed the buttons aggressively. "I hate you both."
For a moment, the room quieted down, filled only with the soft tapping of controllers and in-game sounds.
Then Uraraka suddenly spoke again. "Shoto-kun, how is Bakugou-kun?"
Izuku tensed slightly, his finger twitching on the controller.
Shoto tilted his head. "He’s doing fine."
"HA! YES, TAKE THAT!" Uraraka suddenly shouted after winning a round.
"Lower your voice, Uraraka. The neighbors are sleeping" Iida reminded her.
"Oh—right, sorry" she said, setting the controller down. Then she leaned forward "Shoto-kun… I heard Bakugou-kun pouted at you."
Shoto thought for a moment "yeah i think that is when I always get him the same dishes every lunch"
Uraraka wiggle her eyebrows "really? That is cute is not it?"
Shoto shrug before sipping his drink "i think so-"
Uraraka giggled, which made Shoto raise a brow. "You sound suspicious. What about you and Midoriya?"
Uraraka immediately stopped laughing, and Izuku frowned while still holding the controller.
"What about me and Izuku-kun?"
Shoto blinked at her. "Aren’t you two in a relationship?"
"EH?!?!" Uraraka and Izuku reacted at the same time.
Uraraka’s mouth dropped open in shock, while Izuku looked completely disgusted.
"…Oh, it’s not?" Shoto asked, scratching the side of his head.
"Of course not?! Ew?!" Uraraka quickly waved her hands in front of him. "I’m lesbian!"
"I’m gay!" Izuku groaned, burying his face in his hands. "Why would you even think we’re together?!"
Shoto hummed and took another sip of his drink. "That makes sense."
Izuku lowered his hands from his face and looked at him. "You’re not answering my question."
Shoto tilted his head slightly. "Everyone include our friends thinks you two are together. You work closely, there are magazine photos of you that look more than just friendly, you’re always clinging to each other whenever there’s a party and you both never said anything about being gay."
He explained it calmly, completely unfazed by their reactions.
Iida nodded in agreement." Yes, that is correct. Shoto is right. Not all friendships are as close as ours so maybe that is why they don't know our sexuality."
Well fuck. It's true that Izuku doesn't talk about his true sexuality, because to him it just doesn't matter. He doesn't care what other people or his friends think of him. But this is what he didn't expect, most of his friends think he's straight and that is alarming.
Shoto voice echoed to his head "all of our friends"
Because that only means one thing, katsuki also thinks he's straight and he likes uraraka. That's make sense, the way katsuki would react and push him away as if nothing happened to them in bed or as if they never had anything together.
Just like what Katsuki screaming to his face before about being a toy while he was out there doing things and he only comebacks when he needed to fuck.
Izuku gradually realized the reasons why Katsuki was so aggressively to push him away that he almost couldn't bear to let Izuku touch him again.
They don't have label. The only have label they had is being friends with benefits.
If he were in Katsuki's position, he would probably be jealous and hurt.
Shit How dumb he was.
"Izuku-kun?"
He needs to leave, he needs to talk to Katsuki even if he doesn't want to talk to him or if he hurts him repeatedly. The important thing is that he can talk to him again and tell him that there is nothing between him and Uraraka.
"Midoriya?" Shoto waved a hand in front of Izuku’s face.
Izuku blinked, snapping out of his thoughts, and looked at them.
"…I need to talk to Kacchan" he said so suddenly making his friends look at him in confusion.
