- Raised by Draxum AU [not War Bride au]
Donnie and his brothers are raised by Draxum, Lou Jistu imprisoned in the basement. Donnie and his brothers make a frenemy out of April on their many sneak outs to the human world. Donnie isn’t serious about Draxum’s plan because he and his brothers think it’s stupid, but they’re going along with it because it’s all they know and they legit don’t know any better. April tries to teach them better by freeing her all time hero Lou Jistu, Donnie resents her for stealing his father away, and for his father for leaving them behind.
- Mind Control Helmet [inspired by art]
Donnie's building a VR set for gaming/training purposes. He's experimenting with how his mystic powers interact with tech, and finding interesting results. The goal of the helmet is simple: interface with it like any other VR set, only there's no controller but your mind and there's no screen projecting the game. By "mind melding" with another "player" one can play multiplayer and share a mindscape of sorts. To placate his dad, he wants to add fighting simulations and have it work by meditating and focusing your ninpo to activate the system. He hasn't quite figured out how to do that yet. Magic is fickle and difficult to replicate the results to his liking.
Kendra over hears Donnie talking about his VR helmet to April in the public library, she tries to snoop some more but they're suddenly gone??? [they went to the mystic library] But, through her brief snooping, she learns he's forced to use a Nakamura chip bc he ran out of his own and "it's only a prototype anyway, don't worry about it" but Kendra smiles wickedly bc she managed to salvage enough of the Master Code from her laptop ages ago and never had an excuse to use it... until now.
She gains control of Donnie while he's testing the helmet and makes him a meat puppet for a bit
THAT'S KENDRA'S END GAME take out the other turtles and he's her little cyborg pet, she wants to destroy him by making him build all her tech and stuff, but first. his brothers have to go
He's not entirely conscious - he's sorta in a dream state. He can't really hear, and sight is like looking through frosted glass. Touch is hypersensitive and he can't interpret smell. Basically his 5 senses are WACK rn. He genuinely has no idea what's going on - kinda akin to being hypnotized by Hypno. Aware, but Not. Donnie gets a command "Attack" he attacks. Kendra doesn't control him like a puppet, but more like a Sims. She'll give him a task and Donnie does it... eventually.
This is the reason he figures out he's being controlled with his own tech and after that it's a domino effect of finding Kendra for his own revenge [by this time, his body is catatonic, machines keep his bros away, so when he disconnects, he collapses in a heap] Kendra has no "absolute" control.
He does regain control through his MP, but it takes a while to sift through the code. He destroys Kendra’s lab totally through VR/digital world
“You have no idea what I’m of capable Kendra. I’m so far beyond your human capabilities.”
He ends up a little afraid to make/use tech again bc every time he does someone tries and uses it to harm him/his brothers/others.
Jace: Was Donnie really going to kill her?
Raph (or Leo): Listen kid. We were raised to survive – no matter what. And family means everything to us. And. Now don’t laugh, we’re ninjas. In our world – killing isn’t such a huge step to take when family is on the line.

Yokai have been pushed to the edges of civilization, Draxum makes a desperate plea to his rulers to push for fairer treatment of his kind. When negotiations fail, he begs the council for war but the Heads cant risk humans knowing yokai are just mutated animals and humans - they can’t risk the knowledge of Empyrean leaking out - who knows what the humans will do with it?
Things fester, the king and queen have a daughter they say will one day resolve the "demon issue" everyone believes she's being trained to one day wipe them out - the princess misunderstands that and thinks she's being trained to broker peace.
The prophecy from long ago is remembered, so Draxum kidnaps one of the few humans known for his fighting skills and love for yokai and creates.... the turtles. Splinter runs away and with the help of the Council imprisons Draxum. Due to his mutated state, he can't go back to the human world, so he stays on the outskirts raising his four sons.
As they grow in love and kindness, the boys join the resistance to better the lives of themselves and their kind - only wanting peace and equality - they meet the princess in one of her many "disguised spying sessions". To April, she is only spying to figure out a way to make friends with yokai, to the boys, she trying to find ways to destroy them.
After some misadventures, she actually does become their friend and slowly Donnie falls for her and she falls for him.... they keep it a secret, only Donnie's family knows.....
uhhhh something something Draxum escapes jail and tries to convince the turtles to join him in annihilating the humans, he eventually gets Mikey sicked on him and he changes his perspective and reluctantly joins the resistance in favor of equality.
