One week later
“Eddie?”
Silence. Steve knocks lightly on the door a few more times.
And then. The bathroom door opens.
Steve needs a minute to recover from the vision that follows. Eddie Munson, shirtless, with slightly wet hair and those eyes… so…
“"Need help?" Eddie takes a deep breath, who is he to say no to Steve Harrington?
It's been a week since those things happened. They were alive, but at what cost would Eddie have to live in hiding? The city seemed the same. Still wanting revenge for deaths caused by a being from another dimension. How to explain it to them? No one would believe him. Since then, Eddie has been living with Steve, Steve's parents are always traveling anyway, the huge Harrington house is almost always empty. Eddie needs to hide until he recovers and goes to another city far away from here. No one would look for Eddie here. What would someone like him do in the Harrington house? Exactly. No one would suspect anything. So it was the most obvious decision to make.
Now Steve had a roommate.
An odd roommate who made Steve feel things he'd never felt for another boy before.
Steve goes into the bathroom and helps him bandage his wounds properly. Through their time together, Steve has discovered that Eddie is a bit clumsy with certain things. But that's okay, Steve doesn't mind helping him.
"Ready."
“Thanks, handsome.” Steve shouldn’t feel his heart racing because of that, Steve shouldn’t blush, but he does, he knows it because his face heats up. Suddenly he realizes how close he is to Eddie, less than a step away. Up close you can tell they’re almost the same height, but somehow Steve feels smaller, as if Eddie Munson’s presence is greater, an intense presence in his own way.
Thinking about these things, noticing the details, drives Steve crazy.
His gaze lingers on Eddie's dark, bright eyes, the small freckles on his face, his nose, his lips…
Damn.
“Steve.”
Their eyes meet and that's it. Fuck it. Fuck everything. Fuck what Steve should or shouldn't feel for boys, for one boy in particular, a weirdo who plays D&D. Fuck it.
Eddie can't stand looking at Steve anymore and meeting that gaze directed at him, as if… as if Steve wanted him. It doesn't make sense, definitely, Steve Harrington is the straightest guy in Hawkins so why? Why look at Eddie like that? You know what? Fuck it. Eddie closes the distance between them and kisses Steve's lips, a quick little touch, and then pulls away, analyzing Steve's reaction. He seems shocked, but there's also something more, and it doesn't take long for Eddie to discover that something more because Steve holds his face and kisses him for real this time.
And if after that they spent the rest of the day kissing as if the rest of the world didn't exist anymore, nobody needs to know.
THE END?!
